Device drivers are on CD to reinstall Windows XP Pro?

I recently got a computer that has erased hard drive and Windows XP Pro reinstalled OS. But the Device Manager indicates that these drivers are not installed: Multi Media Audio Controller, SM Bus controller, Ethernet, USB controller controller & video Controller. Are the drivers on the reinstallation CD (which I have) or they are on a separate CD?

Many computers need drivers that are not on the Windows XP reinstallation CD.  For example, Dell computers usually come with a Drivers and Utilities CD.

Using another computer, go to the web site of the manufacturer of the computer and look for the downloadable drivers on your computer.

    Hi Kat,

    1. what web browser do you use?

    2. are you unable to go online?

    3. have you made a recent software or hardware changes to the system?

This error indicates that the drivers for the device are not installed.

The ID of the seller seems to be related to the drivers of Intel.

You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in. If you are prompted for the driver and you don't have it, you can try to download the latest version of the driver from the computer or the device manufacturer's Web site.

You can also try to download the latest version of the computer manufacturer's website Chipset drivers and check if it helps.

  • I had to reinstall Windows Xp Pro, the product key will not work.

I have not changed any hardware or anything like that. I downloaded the updates of msupdates and my computer went the fritz would not do anything. I reinstalled windows xp pro from the restore disc that came with my computer. The product key is not accepted by windows to activate it. I need to know what to do. It's a Dell optiplex 2.8 gig Board and proc 2 gig of ram. Anyway when I bought.

Hi, I am assuming that you are unable to activate your XP via internet, you can try the phone holder to turn on.

You will be asked of the remote computer to give the support page for phone numbers.

You will then receive a new set of numbers to activate your XP.

If this does not work, you will be directed to a Microsoft employee. Explain your problem and if they are happy with your answer will give you an activation key.

If it came preloaded on your computer:

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".
