Reinstall Windows 7 Pro upgrade, no product key, just PIN # for original download. HD crashed.

Bought the computer, HP dv7 64 bit and at the same time I bought the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro. A online and use the PIN number provided and downloaded the upgrade. HD crashed a few days ago and would be * to reinstall Windows 7 Pro.

You need to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium.

Turn it back on, then repeat the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional.

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

  • Wiping Hard Drive, Reinstalled with Windows 7 with upgrade disk product key error

My computer has been acting upward, so I back up hard drive and erased the hard drive with the BACK CLEAN ALL command. I then reinstalled windows 7 from my Windows 7 Upgrade disk and restore my files on hard disk. The computer works fantastic and returned half of the memory of the hard drive. A few days later, I get a message on the screen that I have 30 days left until I can produce a product key from the original Windows installation, does not accept the upgrade product key.

I tried the product key located on the bottom of my laptop for Windows Vista comes with the HP computer. It does not work and it gave me no disk backup for Windows Vista from HP.

I called Microsoft and they told me to contact HP for the product key. I see on this forum that someone else has written a similar plea, because it is a plea, and HP said to contact Microsoft. In other words, Microsoft says to contact HP and HP says to contact Microsoft.

I use Microsoft since Windows 3.2 operating systems and have bought a lot of products of them. It's my 3rd HP laptop, my wife is on her 2nd HP laptop. Well you know what? If I don't get this resolved quickly by one of your companies, and I'm not remember Microsoft, I'm through the two of you.

I don't see where Microsoft is not being fooled off but when it's to the detriment of a loyal customer, so don't worry. HP is also responsible for this. An upgraded version of Windows 7 (to upgrade from Vista or XP) should be smart enough (and I thought it was) to remember that I had the original version and its product key should be enough. Also I don't never told me that I had to keep the old product keys, and it doesn't matter anyway because the product key is always available in my laptop HP, but it does not work.

I'm not buying another HP without your help and actually buying an Apple Mac for my wife and my next computer if it is not resolved. I think that HP is probably as bad as Microsoft so that it will not be solved and I'm not shelling out more money for something I already own.

There is not a way to see or get your product from a computer key. There are 3rd party applications available that would allow an end user to do. We do recommend none of them because it would be contrary to our policy. A well-formulated search in your favorite search engine to provide you with the appropriate means.

  • Can I download and install Windows 7 pro with a product key and the USB (No .iso or CD/DVD)

So my hard drive failed, Dell can replace it but none of the software.  I have OEM Windows 7 pro and Office 2010 versions, which means that I (somewhere) product keys but not record.  Maybe Dell recover disk will work, but it's 7000 mile more away.  I've seen links to download install. • Reinstall Windows 7 using the same product key on another computer.

I bought a product key on the Microsoft site, and a few days later I received the disks by mail (a year ago). I now use it on this computer, I plan on building a new computer soon. I'll be able to disable this old computer product key and activate it on the new?

Just remove it from the computer, on which it is currently installed and proceed to install on the new and reactivated by phone.

    Please note:

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

  • I can validate a sticker/Windows 7 Pro OA installation product key FRONT of the BONE?

    Hi all

I bought a 2nd hand PC that has windows XP on, but I want now to remove it and install Windows 7.

Curiously, the PC had original Windows 7 Pro OA sticker with the product key (my guess is that windows XP has been installed then it was a PC ex).

My question is: is there a way to check if the product key is valid before installing Windows 7 Pro, because I don't want to install Windows 7 Professional, only to find out that for some reason any key is invalid and I have to re - install Windows XP.

A big thank you to all for reading (and I hope to answer to) this question.

No, you can not determine if it is valid or not, but just the fact that it is a Windows 7 Pro COA attached to the machine he could prove the validity.

  • My Pc crashed and I need to reinstall windows, but it indicates the product key is already in use

It gives me the msg of error that my product key is already used, but I do not use the old hard disk which is crushed for anything other than back up now, so it doesn't matter if I can't start Windows on this drive.  I bought a new drive and want to install windows on it.  My question is: How do I disable my last windows installation so that I can activate it on the new?  I am running windows 32-bit Home Premium.
    Thanks for any help.

You can reactivate your Windows Vista installation by doing the following:

    1. click on the Start button and in the box, type search: slui.exe 4

    2. press the Enter key on your keyboard.

    3 select your country.

4 follow the instructions for the activation of the telephone (toll-free).

  • Windows Vista says that my product key is invalid for activation.

I bought a dell Inspiron on 2007. He died this year and I bought a used machine, using the memory of the dead dell printer. I installed Vista on my disk and now recieveda message on my screen saying my code is invalid for activation! It's probably my drive. What they are up to?

    original title: not valid?

Dell you provided with what we call an OEM of Windows version. OEM versions are related to the computer first it is installed on and can not be moved / installed on another computer.

You need to buy a 'Full' version retail of windows (if the computer that you want to use never had an earlier version of Windows AND valid a certificate of authenticity).

You can use an 'Upgrade' of Windows Vista (or Windows 7) retail version if Windows XP or Vista has been installed and you have always a product key and the COA.
