Dimensions of the exported PDF

Thanks to anyone who can help me with this.

I designed a standard header 8.5 "x 11" (actually 10.98 "per the specifications of the printer) in InDesign.

When I export to PDF, bridge shows the dimensions of the document to be 648 x 827, which leads me to think the file exported to 72 dpi.

The printer's specifications indicate 2551 x 3295 must be file format.

I feel I'm missing something basic but have no chance of research here and not elsewhere online.

Any help/advice would be most appreciated.

Thank you!

Patrick

I solved it! I had to use the original URL shorter links to create

  • Calculation of Quickie of the export-PDF file size?

I have a document Indesign CS4 (816 pages, 3.5 GB) I want to export in PDF format in less than 200 MB pieces. Is it possible to request an approximate exported PDF, to save size guess them where do breaks and having to export several times in InDesign?

    Well, your 500 x 250mm @ 300 dpi images are about 60 MB

What I would do is export the PDF file as a whole, then I use the extract Document pages and select as simple Pages.

Then you have the PDF pages separately. You can then select and group them in your Finder or Explorer.

When you select a bunch of files, you should get a reading on what file size they are.

You can then say to tuft of 180 MB of using Acrobat files to combine into a single pdf file.

  • Lo-res images appear in the exported PDF from Indesign files - anyone else having this problem?

I used Indesign for years without this problem...

But I noticed recently that many of these images (PSD, TIFF, or JPEG) that I placed in Indesign files are exported as pixelated, versions low resolution when I export for printing (PDF/X-1).

I tried different settings, but in each case, the image (which appears thin and sharp as seen in Indesign) came out like a pixelated mess blurred.

This seems to have started happening in the past months.

    Vector graphics are fine.

    Anyone else having this problem?

Or someone at - it a solution?

Also use some PDF parameters where resolution is not sous-echantillonnees at all.

    Turn off downsampling.

And I would like to test, when you export to PDF/X-4 would make to the resolution of the images.

Just to know, if something is fundamentally wrong with your PDF export feature perhaps.

  • Best way to get InDesign files (or the exported pdf file) Acrobat DC?

    Hi all

I was taken to the top of the interactive forms in Indesign. I like the creation of form-everything is very specific and very accurate. I feel like Adobe is lacking in this regard and with regard to the toolset.

/ But /, Indesign does not support the level of script Acrobat when it comes to creation of interactive form. What I do is, I exported the PDF from Indesign, then by defining it as a background in Acrobat. That worked fine for me up until I created a multipage document.

It seems that I can not put a background in Acrobat 1:1 with the pdf I created. It still affects each page with the background, be it a page of pdf or page 2 or page 3...

Someone at - it a good workflow, a way to get the most out of Indeisgn without taking too many steps to change the pdf file in Acrobat? Perhaps with a plug-in?

Have you tried the replace command pages in Acrobat. Seems it would be exactly what need you.

  • Why a form in InDesign CC 2014 multiline text field wraps not the text in the exported PDF file?

I created a form in InDesign CC 2014. The form fields are text with a font size of 12 point and multiline text attribute. I export to PDF interactive form. Open the PDF file in Acrobat XI. When I type in the form field, the text is centered vertically in the form field and wraps around, when I type a value in addition to a line of words in the field.

I would like that text to start at the top of the field and fill down. Also, I would automatically wrap it around the input text.

    Any advice?

Delete any point in the name field.

There is a problem like that if there is a point understanding between the words or numbers in the name of the text box in the button panel.

  • CS6 IND - best way to reduce the size of the exported pdf.

Does anyone know a game existing instructions or discussion on reducing the file size of the pdf files exported from InDesign CS6? I want to keep my documents at 300 dpi for printing purposes, but do nothing else that I might be able to in order to keep the size of the file at the very least. Thank you!

    Hello

First at all you can try are:

    -export .idml .indd

    d ' open in

    -to export it to .pdf

2-digit percentage in size reduction is likely (varies according to the file history)

  • Restart the numbering of the pages for the exported PDF files

So I have a book with multiple indd file. I am wanting to export each of these co-operate towards their own PDF, but the numbering reflects the section of the book that is. Is there something I'm missing? Can I set each PDF export as page 1? We do not want to confuse our customers when they open a page 3 PDF that says they are on page 22.

When you synchronize the numbering in a book he changes number assignments in the component files. in your situation, I probably put the pages of the original of the files in new .indd docs and crops off the original page numbers, adding new numbers on the new master file pages. This allows you to make all your changes in the original file and just update the second link of file when something is changed.

  • PDF Edition: How to keep the dimensions of the page

    Hello

    I have Photoshop CS6.

I have a pdf file created elsewhere that are labels to print on labels which is 3 columns of labels.

I want to edit in Photoshop because my label stock starting to label #4 (I already used the first 3), so I'm going to empty on the first three labels.

So my pdf has my text in the upper left corner of an 8.5 x 11 pages.

But when I open the pdf file in Photoshop, the entire document is text.

How can I open the PDF in Photoshop and all retaining the white space, it contains the origin, so that the text is in the upper left corner and not all the document?

    Thank you.

I finally found the answer in another forum. On the import PDF page, modify Crop to: media box. The default value is the topping, but Media Box will keep the dimensions of the original pdf file.

  • Export PDF in different size while maintaining hyperlinks

    Hello

my client asked export document format A4 A5 size letter size (so the source A4). So I need 3 different exports of the schema source A4. It seems to me, that humans are capable of landing on the Moon, but resizing PDF seems to be much more complicated...

    1. I know that there is this option print in Id, where I can export PDFS in different size (why the hell that's not possible in the Export PDF dialog classic?). I tried, but this way of 'print' kills all my links created manually (about 800 of them in all of the document).
    2. I can change the document. But in the case of A4 > letter y at - it somehow how just increase the size of the artboard and keep the work without scales right in the Middle? (And keep hyperlinks, of course...)

So my question is: how to export in different sizes and maintain hypertext links?

    Thank you!

    You can not.

Never use print to create a PDF file, avoid postscript, which means no EPS, but also without the creation of Distiller or PDF by printing.

    It is said of Villa.

If you create a PDF file via the export only you can use the URL. (Often URLS work in all cases such as Acrobat and Reader are detecting those automatically the text, but often not correct.)

Normally, you can place an INDD or PDF/X-4 file exported in other INDD files links als, they are treated as PDF images. But images can never transfer the interactivity in InDesign when they are placed there. If you lose these Interactivities.

But why your client will have live links in all sizes? The user will not open all sizes and use it on screen. I would recommend to strengthen links in the original which must be the version that gets the user on the screen. Other sizes can be done via the placement of the INDD or PDF/X-4 files (with bleed.)

Is what you you should interest you, if you use a smaller file, your resolution should be at least the square root of 2 higher for each step you want to increase the file. Let's say the original is A4 and you want to jump up to the A3, you need 1.41 × 300 ppi or A2 will be 2 × 300pp. Conversely, when you place it in a smaller provision, you must increase the purge. If the bleeding is 3 mm in the original A4 and you want to place in an A5 available in A4 minimum purge must be 1.41 × 3 mm, with A6 2 × 3 mm. (for output you can use another bleeding in the export that you configured in the configuration of the document).

  • Export PDF - definition of "PDF producer"

    Hello

    Can someone help me...

Allow me to set up different 'producer PDF' in the exported PDF properties (other than Adobe PDF Library).

I looked at using PDFExportPreference, but I do not see this option.

It is adjustable in the form of metadata to the Document level? But the export of pdf would not crush him?

    Thank you!

    Cristian

    Hey, Cristian.

I think that it is not possible, if you stay with the script DOM of inDesign. But I already did hint at the solution to read a file (the exported PDF file), do some changes and rewrite this file on the disk. Of course, it is within the reach of the ExtendScript basic ability.

  • Fonts TrueType Adobe is missing from the created PDF

When I create a PDF just by perfectly except the text of fonts TrueType Adobe is missing (Adobe Garamond Pro). It's used to work. File looks good on screen and prints well.

If I switch to Garamond the PDF is created perfectly, now including all the missing text.

Note Garamond Pro fonts are not TrueType and Adobe fonts. They are OpenType CFF fonts.

Actually, this is perhaps the key to why they are not included in your PDF files.

First of all, unlike the response of Bill@VT, while the standard joboptions for Adobe's PDF creation tools do not incorporate all the fonts, the fonts that are not incorporated are in a list of exceptions. Using these joboptions, members of the family of fonts Adobe Garamond Pro should integrate properly in the created PDF files either by printing (a) at the instance of PostScript printer driver Adobe PDF on Windows, (b) using the export PDF from Adobe graphics applications (Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) as long as you use not the joboptions smaller , or (c) for the use of Microsoft Office applications you use the Adobe PDFMaker option for creating PDF, save them as Adobe PDF files again as long as you do not use the joboptions of smaller size .

That being said, the fact that Garamond fonts (I assume you mean the family of TrueType Garamond fonts as bundles of Microsoft with Windows and Office) incorporates and Adobe Garamond Pro police stir not leads me to believe that your real problem is that you create a PDF using the fairly defective save them in PDF format that is native to Microsoft Office on Windows. One of a number of bugs or limitations in creating PDF from Microsoft is that although it includes TrueType and OpenType TrueType fonts, it is unable to embed OpenType CFF fonts. Not only is not Microsoft include the fonts in the PDF file, but it is incorrectly referred to the fonts in the file PDF generated such that when you view or print these PDF files, even if you have Adobe Garamond Pro installed on your system, these fonts are not used for display or printing. (We have informed Microsoft of this bug, but they are apparently not interested in fixing their bug!)

If you already have Acrobat installed on your system, use the Save as Adobe PDF (from the screen of the file) or create an Adobe PDF from the Acrobat tab in the Office Ribbon. Set preferences to a minimum Standard, but preferably Hiqh quality print joboptions and you will end up with a good PDF with the Adobe Garamond Pro (or all OpenType fonts) properly integrated)!
