  Thanks for the link, but it was driving me nuts and takes me too long to understand. So, I saved all my work and formatted my hard drive with a new installation of Mac OS x.

  That solved the problem.

The next idea was try another internet connection. Does not work either. Of course, all this could be avoided if there was more than one method of download available.
