Direct Selection tool removes the complete path

Need to delete part of a path, but when I select the points I want to delete (or a line between two points) with the direct selection (not path selection) and click on 'remove' the full path of the deletions!

This seems to be a new default value of CS5 on my copy.

Any thoughts?

Try it with a selected layer, otherwise it will remove the entire path

  • Removal of anchor point, removes the complete path

Need a solution... when I create a path with the pen tool I'm unable to delete anchor points without deleting the full path. The tool using pen + option shows the white arrow (direct selection tool) - I click on and drag than a box around the desired anchor point - selected point is so black - all other points along the track are not filled with black - so they are not selected - I hit the delete button - instead of the single point selected being deleted the path is removed. In the past, I have to exit and restart PS to erase the problem - this patch no longer works.

All of the suggestions. Thank you.

It is something that happens when you have no selected layers or over a selected layer. Make sure you have exactly a layer selected while trying to remove a single path point.

Is there a way to disable this "novelty"? If I wanted to direct selection of something, I would use the tool for that.

If it's not broken why "fix."

  • Why can I not select an object using the direct Selection tool?

PHOTOSHOP: I have an ellipse I have rasterized. Why can I not use the direct selection on it?

The direct Selection tool is designed for use of vector path.

If you want to use the tool, you can get your selection by going to the Panel traced and clicking the work path make the symbol at the bottom of the Panel, a path

Then, if you choose, you can click the load path as a selection symbol to return to the moving dotted line (rasterized).

  • Cannot see the whole picture when you move into a smaller template with the direct Selection tool

    Hello!

I recently got my laptop cleaned in preparation for examinations and such (I'm in high school). As I belong to art class, when Basic programs have been re-installed we also got the Adobe programs, but we got the CC 2015 version instead of the version CS5, we had earlier. After a stressful week, I finally had time to sit and work on my projects aside, but I quickly found a big problem which stops at my work. After re size the image at the size I want, I don't see the whole picture when I move in the smallest area with the direct Selection tool more. Photos I use are generally quite large, that I've tried to work with now are 451mmx338mm after the scaling down and I have a 'framework of standard departure' to 60mmx15mm (I make the bosses), so now I have basically has to guess my way toward a good composition...

Can I make it work again?

Click on the image and hold the pointer of the mouse for a while. And then drag.

    Ally,

I fear she is only in the later version.

You can update. The latest version is 19.2 (who has some problems (GPU), so you can consider 19.1.1 also.

CS5, don't know how that Word...

In the previous version of ID, if I had a graph in a framework, I could drag the image around inside this image with the direct Selection tool.  I can always do with CS5, but he seems to want to show the entire image in a manner of ghosts that is outside of the framework.  Is there a way to disable this type of song look as if it was in previous versions?  I want sound slow down my computer to the low bigtime because I am facing a large image.  Whenever I click to drag, everything slows to a crawl and unusable.

  • Selection tool automatically switching to the direct Selection tool, grabbing a picture box

Seems that when I'm grabbing an image placed in Indesign CS5, it automatically switches to the direct Selection tool and grabbing the image instead of its container. I'm doing something wrong? I have to do it several times before I can enter the container and the image, instead of just the image.

Any tips? I've only noticed this in CS5.

It seems the content grabber, see you a "donut" are also?  If yes go to view > Extras and click on hide content Grabber or go here and learn how to use it, apparently, some find it useful, personally I don't.

  • Selection tool it's the direct Selection tool...

OK, I've been through all the preferences and have no idea of what I changed. My selection tool is no longer shows bounding boxes and acts as the direct Selection tool by only "emphasizing" the realization of selection almost impossible resizing. I need to restore it. Please HELP thanks.

You have turned off inadvertenty bounding boxes. Reactivate them.

  • Text and the direct Selection tool?

When I place a space for the text or graphic, the box has an external box around it. The space between the two sets of text blocks lines. I have to use the direct Selection tool to capture the corners and close the gap.

I have a set of adjustment that I can't find out. I would not have this second line in the boxes. Y at - it of some sort that I can disable that?

Attached is a snapshot of the extra green line around the image... and the small red sign that the text is covered by it.

I am very frustrated as I do several bulletins and the time is almost double.

I'd like an answer to my e-mail address, [email protected] .

    Thank you.

This is an indication of the film text limit. You have a default text wrapping. To turn on it took off for new arrivals make sure nothing is selected and open the text layout Panel and do not select the icon of film no. Do the same thing without papers open to make sure have not set it as a global default value for the application.

  • ESC of Type instead of the Selection tool, direct selection tool

After you have changed the type with the text tool, is there a way to set Illustrator for the direct instead of the selection tool Select tool when you press the Escape key?

On mac, it use to be command-tab to switch to the other tool selection and back after you access current selection tool while in one different tool other then the selection tool as the pen tool do you now turn back on first press and hold the command key down if the selection tool and you want the direct Selection tool to hold the option tab keys as well as the command key that is then to select the direct Selection tool, the direct Selection tool will be available whenever you hold down the control key if you want to come back and do the same thing.

They are a weird combination of keys, but there you go.

  • Direct Selection tool not showing ankles illustrator CS3, Mac 10.5.8, MBP 2 .6GHz

Using the direct Selection (white arrow) moving on an anchor, they appear, but even if the anchor is selected the blue anchor box disappears as soon as the mouse moves away, so its impossible to select a handle.  I can still pass an anchor, but it is difficult to select two anchors attached paths, etc., somehow as lead a blind man.  If I click on a path, and then hold down the command key, hollow anchor box appear and the cursor turns into the selection tool.  Trough areas appear on the selection using the selection tool (black arrow).  I'm pretty direct selection tool was working properly last week (am a casual user).

I know the difference between tool, direct Selection tool, and group selection tool.   I think that happened a year ago and deleting a file preferably helped.  I, quit illustrator, remove "com.adobe.illustrator.plist" in my user library and tried.  that did not help.
