DirectX SDK - CreateEffect E_NOTIMPL - Windows-Shell-DLL crash

Hello

I win 10 x 64 and I have installed the DirectX SDK.

I need to run the example FF Const, to test the Force Feedback on my wheel.

The following function returns "E_NOTIMPL".

If (FAILED (hr = g_pDevice-> CreateEffect (GUID_ConstantForce,
eff, & g_pEffect, NULL)))

{
Back at the time;
}

Shell-Windows-DLL crashes, if I want to read a ffb effects on control of drive of the navigation panel.

So I think there must be something wrong with the sdk!

Can someone help me?

Friendly reg.

  • Saved as files. PSD now that they are "The Windows Shell common Dll" and does not open?

I'm having a problem with some files open in Photoshop. I use Photoshop CS5.1 Extended (Version 12.1) and you have Windows 7 64 bit SP1 OS.

I'm opening a few models that I made in PhotoShop for a client and it worked fine when I used them 3 weeks ago. All were saved as .psd documents. Now when I go to open them they do have the PS icon (to show that they would be open by PhotoShop). When I try to open them I get "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." I had this problem once before, but it's confusing to me 2 other .psd similar files that I recorded in the same period (separate for the temlate elements) are perfectly fine, those I need won't open.

I checked the properties of the file, and he claims that these files are now the Windows Shell common Dll files. Any ideas?

Among the file names, it looks like windows is confused about the type of file due to the periods in file names.

If in photoshop, you go to file > open as > PSD, open files in photoshop?

I'd really aprecciate help, thank you for your time

    Hello

The basic definition of a bugcheck 0 x 116 is:

There may be a bug in the video driver or video material.

So I would now explain what means VIDEO_TDR_ERROR. Firstly, TDR is an acronym for Timeout detection and recovery. Detection time and recovery was introduced in Vista and carried over to Windows 7. Rather than exactly what detection time and recovery did exactly, I'll just quote the MSDN article!

    Timeout detection:

Planner of the GPU, which is part of the DirectX Graphics kernel subsystem (Dxgkrnl.sys), detects that the GPU takes more than the amount of time to perform a particular task. The GPU scheduler then attempts to anticipate on this particular task. Preempt is a timeout 'wait', which is the actual time of TDR. This step is the detection of delay of the process phase. The period of default timeout in Windows Vista and later versions is 2 seconds. If the GPU cannot complete or anticipate the current task period TDR, the diagnostic operating system that the GPU is frozen.
To avoid detection of timeout to occur, hardware vendors should ensure that graphics operations (i.e. buffer DMA completion) will not take more than 2 seconds in scenarios such as productivity and the game to the end user.

    Preparation for recovery:

The operating system GPU Scheduler calls the function DxgkDdiResetFromTimeout of the miniport driver of the display to inform the driver that the operating system detected a timeout. The pilot must then resets and reset the GPU. In addition, the driver must stop access to memory and go not material. The operating system and the driver collect material and other State information that might be useful for post-mortem diagnosis.

    Recovery of funds:

The operating system resets the State appropriate graphics stack. The video memory manager, which is also part of Dxgkrnl.sys, serving all allocations of video memory. The miniport display driver resets the State of the GPU hardware. The graphics stack takes the final steps and restores the receptive office. As mentioned previously, some older DirectX applications could make only in black at the end of this recovery, which requires the user to restart these applications. Well-written 9Ex, DirectX and DirectX 10 and subsequent applications which manage peripheral technology delete continue to function correctly. An application must release and then recreate the Direct3D device and all the objects in the device. For more information on how get the DirectX applications, see the Windows SDK.

    Article here.

That being said, if the detection time and recovery fails to retrieve the display driver, it will then pull the bugcheck 0 x 116. There are many different things that can cause a 0 x 116, which I'll explain below:

The following hardware problems may cause a TDR event:

1 unstable overclock (CPU, GPU, etc.). Return any overclocks to stock settings.

2 bad sector in memory, resulting in corrupted data is communicated between the GPU and system (memory video, otherwise known as VRAM or physical memory, also called RAM).

    GPU tests: Furmark

    RAM test: Memtest86 +.

3 corrupt hard drive or install Windows / OS install resulting in corruption in the registry or the page file.

    HARD drive Diagnostics: http://www.carrona.org/hddiag.html

To reset your swap file, follow these steps:

    (a) go to start... Run... and type "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes) and press ENTER.

-Then click on the Advanced tab.
    - then the Performance Settings button.
    - then on the tab advanced following.
-and then click the virtual memory button.

    (b) in this window, note the current settings of your swap file (so you can restore them later).

-Then click on the option button "No paging file", and
    - Press the Set"" button. Don't forget, if you have several hard drives, make sure that the paging file is set to 0 on all of them.
-Click OK to exit the dialog boxes.

    (c) restarted (this will remove the file from your system)

((d) then go back following the directions in step one) and re-enter the settings that you noted in step

    (b) follow the steps along the (and including) the reset.

    (e) once you have restarted this second time, go back and make sure the settings are as they are supposed to be.

    Run the System File Checker:

    SFC. EXE/SCANNOW

Click on start and type "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)

At the top of the search box, right-click on the cmd.exe and select "Run as Administrator"

In the black window that opens, type "SFC. EXE/scannow"(without the quotes) and press ENTER.

Let the program run and after return what he says when it's done.

-Overheating of the CPU or GPU and or other elements can cause 0 x 116 bugs. Monitor your temperature and ensure that the system is sufficiently cooled.

-GPU failure. Whether the heat, power (PSU) issue, lack of VRAM, etc..

The following software issues can cause a TDR event:

-Incompatible drivers of any kind (two GPU, sound, etc)

    -Messy registry / corrupted

-DirectX bad files (uninstall and reinstall DirectX)

-bad system files (System File Checker - has been run on it)

-Bad driver (some drivers will cause an event due to internal bugs, but they are not nearly as common as many think because of all the previous things, causing the same symptom) - (remove all 3rd party programs and make sure that are not load drivers. Then install only what you need 3rd party stuff and make sure it is the latest version).

    Kind regards

    Patrick

  • DLL crashes LabView 2013 Pro, but good to EXE

    Hello

I started having a problem older "degenerate." I had a previous post about a dll which plays a role of interface between a program running under Windows and LabView. The details are here:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/installed-program-no-Comm-with-driver/m-p/2659765/highlight/true#M79...

Note that this isn't a double post, I just mentioned my recent problem there, when he was not that common.

Today - unknown reason - after a win system restart I can not run my development environment LabView code. When I run the main VI, it blocks all of the LabView environment during the first call of dll. This problem we had before also, but the 2nd of the 3rd test he ran OK. Today, I tried like 30 times, too many system restart. The native software spectroscope works very well too.

Strange, if I run the exe to build, everything works fine. The problem appears only when I run LabVIEW. There is no error code, only a window appeared the first time, as I can send the error report to NOR. I can dig into some logs tomorrow at the lab, I just need to know where I can get.

It seems that someone has also experienced similar behavior with external dll call:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/problem-DLL-crashes-LabVIEW/m-p/2562667/highlight/true#M773565

"In the application resulting (Exe), it seems to work very well."

What is the difference between when the dll is built in the exe file, and when it is executed from the LabView dev environment?

Thanks for any idea and help!

(if nothing helps, I just re - build the exe after changes to the program, but it slows down some coding)

The last time, we have no comments from the company that created this dll, I'll try to contact again...)

    Hello

you said that you have read the discussion in the following link:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/problem-DLL-crashes-LabVIEW/m-p/2562667/highlight/true#M773565

Are you facing exactly the same problem?

If Yes, then there is not much we can do. LV is an access contradication with your included DLL unless you have access to its source. You do not experience these problems with the exe since that only works on the run-time engine while the LV environment executes the code in a different way (why LV reserve this special memory on which your DLL is also trying to access.

    Any help appreciated. Thank you

    You are welcome.

How about that.  Don't you love it when a plan comes together?  Windows updates only or material for pilots also and then update windows is good, but for a more broad ability of other applications Microsoft, then Microsoft Update and Office update is good for a shopping for updates of every Microsoft product you have.

You suppose wrongly, and I thought I answered this before.  Technically, you can re-enable the automatic updates but that will require you disabling updates every Monday just before black Tuesday and then manually download and install the cumulative security update newly released and restart before you activate the updates automatic (or notifications only) once more.  It is more reliable just disable automatic updates and do not have the headache.  Disable the horse of notification that is displayed in the status bar, and that you don't mind.

Please mark this thread as a response.  Thank you.

To not argue the point, but XP users required the kind of brilliant 'support' who gave XP since the time of the IE7 to IE8 'false upgrade' users XP need like a hole in the head.

right click on windows Explorer causes crash!  Sometimes when I try to empty the trash, it also blocks?  I use windows 7?

Right-click accidents are caused by third-party shell extensions. To identify the culprit, you must use a utility like ShellExView and disable context menus not Microsoft managers one by one (or disable items in a batch) and observe.
