Disable "Check for updates" at startup, ThinPro 5
On our t620s running ThinPro 5 (T6X50034), every time you start the user is presented with the window "Check for updates", despite having disabled me 'enable automatic update at startup of the system '. Until it is completed or clicked 'Skip' in the lower right, nothing else is responsible, so it is essentially unnecessarily interrupted startup every time. I can't find another way to disable this option. Unchecking the box I mentioned above have absolutely no effect. Thoughts?
Switch to the administrator user, open a terminal window. Regeditor TypeRegeditdans. In the registry, look at the config wiz and auto updated values. Change them if necessary.

Hi Barbara,
1 when was the last time it was working fine?
2. did you of recent changes on the computer?
It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is triggering problems and solution window to pop-up at every reboot.
I suggest that you perform a clean boot and check.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

First of all, I would like to state that I have hardly any technical knowledge. So forgive me if this seems like a silly question to professionals. Here are the details about this problem according to the best of my limited knowledge:
I am currently using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.18; previously, 3.6.13. It was upgrade 3.6.9 3.6.13 after I click on Check for Updates... and he told me that this would be done when I reboot my system. When I restarted my PC, I was surprised to find that it has been downloaded version 3.6.18. I didn't know how she had progressed in the process, so I let him finish. After that, I disabled the option that allows it to download and upgrade to date on its own and turned it off. Next time when I started, it was 3.6.18, but has not been updated on its own.
Now, I want to upgrade directly to version 5.0.1. But when I leave the option "download and install the update automatically" under Tools > Options > advanced > update, it downloads and updates the versions according to their order of liberation. So if I let it, then when I start it up the next time, he'll start download version 3.6.18 and update to it rather than to directly update 5.0.1. It will continue to do so until it reaches it. For reasons of my own, I don't like that. So I unchecked the option "Download and install the update automatically" and chose the "ask me what I want to do" option (so that it is not repeating the "download and update" process on its own whenever I start my PC). Then I went to the site of Firefox and the thought of downloading and updating to the latest version of my own. But then I was informed that if I do, I have the latest version, but I'll lose all my favorites registered unless I followed a procedure hectic in order to save and load them again after you have installed the latest version of Firefox. I won't let that happen either. So someone can get out of this situation suggests without losing my favorites?
Almost forgot. I tried several times by going to help > Check For Updates..., but each time he returned to the same result: "there is no update. Firefox periodically checks the updates. "How is it no update is available, while the version I use is 3.6.18 and the latest version is 5.0.1? In short, Check for Updates... has not helped either. (Even though I have updated the last time, shouldn't it have updated to version 3.6.13 to 5.0.1 directly?)
So, can anyone suggest a way in which I don't lose my favorites and would be able to upgrade to the latest version directly too? A response that would not involve the removal of the current version and install the most recent, but to update directly to it (it is fine if it needs to download) would be more welcome. I know that bookmarks can be saved in a file and everything, but I would like to know if it is possible, as has happened for my current version of the previous version. (He downloaded and updated itself on its own, disturb nothing, not even myself connected on some accounts where I stay connected.) The only problem there is that he wasn't directly updated to the latest version.)
I hope that the above details of sense and are pretty useful for others to help me. Thank you.
No need to transfer bookmarks and settings to the new version as a new version of Firefox will use the last profile you used unless you check otherwise. You can always save your profile in the case.
The Firefox 5.0 would be the same.

Hi, I use Win Vista Ultimate 32-bit sp1. I have KIS2009, A Squared Anti Malware, MalwareBytes Anti Malware installed. All showing my system is clean. I ran MSRT analysis to light, and he pointed out that my system is clean also.
The problem
When I connect, I get a balloon in the notification area telling me that "windows cannot check for updates. Opening of update of Windows and do it to check a windows update updates it just go and research without results. It justs keep checking, but I get no error. Lists history of update Windows Defender updates the last today, 06/09/09. All updates prior to this are Windows Defender until 28/04/09. At this time I have installed 15 updates, including some Office updates. Click on installed updates and finally I said that there is no update at all?:What I tried
I disabled my firewall and tried again. No luck :(Tried a point files, but apparently I don't have? I should have, but there is none there. Install Win7 RC on a different partition, would this have wiped my restore points? I remember Vista made this for XP, but assumed that this would have been resolved with Win7.
I tried to install Win Vista sp2 but unfortunately, I installed the Russian language (don't know why I, I was annoyed a day) but the sp2 download in five languages and Russian is not one of them :(
So I tried to do a search on it. Came across various inscription mention deletion of registry keys. Only problem is that I have not mentioned keys. Some keys were supposed to be in the components of HKLM, sorry can't remember the others.
Find this site, I tried the FIX tool, reset Windows Update. He ran not aggressive and he made the restoration, request for permission to UAC thingy, then the progress bar moves to the right and nothing else happens. Restarted exciting tried and the same thing happens. Been sitting there for more than two hours and no results.
I checked services.msc. I have BITS began, was automatic but have updated the manual according to the instructions contained in the ' automatic updates can be turned off "at the top of the forum. Update of Windows, The Windows event log and Software Licensing Service are all set to automatic, and running.

Hello1. do you have specific error codes with the message?
2. are you referring to the Windows updates?Follow the steps and check if that helps.Step 1:Troubleshooting of Windows update run and check if this is useful.Step 2:There are many reasons where the windows updates to date do not settle, most of it is caused by security software.Temporarily disable any security software and then try to install the update, follow the steps mentioned below
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-softwareNote: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Unlike before, I can't launch the Windows automatic update service now, I suspect that my computer is infected virus, I just install demo version free of McAfee internet security and run a full scan, no infection has been detected.
Description:
When I click on Windows update for all programs at startup, pop out window update, and then I click on "check update", out another part: list "" Windows Update cannot currently Check For Updates, because the Service is not running. "You may need to restart your calculater ', then I restart the computer a few times, the same problem still persists. before I was using microsoft essential secruty with no problems, but now I can't seem to complete the definition of update, so I think this problem could be related to Windows Update and decide to uninstall MSE and replace it with McAfee, but it does not work.
any help and suggestions would be very appreciated.

"Windows Update" "checking for Updates" forever
'Windows Update' 'check updates' never takes more than a few minutes, but now it is always many checking several hours later.
Problem just started.
I know there are updates available.Windows 7 Pro 32 bit
Things that did not help:
Disable my software firewall (just in case: it has never interfered with before WU anyway).Troubleshooting Windows Update to the https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058 tool
The convenience of automated update Windows to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/gp/windows-update-issues/en-us
Please try the following: set the automatic update search to "never check for updates" and then restart. Download and install KB3145739

and then check the updates again.

Acrobat 8 Pro ' Check for Updates ' does not not (Windows 7, 64-bit)
I have Acrobat 8 Pro installed on my Windows 7 (64 bit) system; specifically v8.1.3. When you try to use the feature of ' Check for Updates ' application, Adobe Updater displays the following message: "no Internet connection found. Please check your Internet settings or firewall. »
I do not encounter this error if you use the "Update" functionality with other applications such as Photoshop Adobe elements & Reader. I have an internet connection.
I installed on my laptop Vista Acrobat 8 Pro and the feature "Check for Updates" works as expected.
All the words of wisdom on why I encounter this problem on my Windows 7 system and/or how to fix it? Thanks in advance.
Problem has been resolved (the solution in a post on the forum of the Adobe Web site):
CONTROL PANEL > NETWORK CONNECTIONS >
Windows "gave me" a "Wireless Network Connection 3" that has been identified as a "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter"
I clicked it and chose to "disable."
Once the 'virtual' card has been deactivated, my Adobe Acrobat Update Manager launch worked well. I've seen this problem on Windows 7; never lived with my XP or Vista systems.

Delete "Check for Updates" Microsoft Office 2010 - GPO
I'm working on the packaging of various components of Microsoft Office 2010, such as the shared components, the Office Software Protection Platform Service, Visio (all flavors) and project (Standard and Pro). I wanted to delete "Check for Updates" in the Help menu. I installed the Office administrative templates on my machine to capture, added models to gpedit.msc and open administration-> Microsoft Office 2010 templates-> disable UI elements-> "disable the commands on the file tab | Help» I ran a prescan, then I activated the strategy, checked the box to remove the "Check for Updates" and click OK.
I open Visio and checked that the 'Check for Updates' button is greyed out. I closed my Visio and performed a scan of post and saved the project. I looked in all the files in the registry text. I pulled the text below in the file HKEY_CURRENT_USER.txt, added to the lower part of the same file in my project of exisitng Visio, run build.bat, cleared out the old sandbox, launched Visio, and the button is grayed.
My question: this application will encounter problems with Group Policy objects, or the complete isolation on these entries mode settings will be sufficient to keep the setting?
Here is the text of registry I captured and added (also included in the attached text file):

How can you cancel the download of an update that was started by after having pressed the button "Check for Updates" in the window "On Firefox", please? If possible, please cover all platforms, Mac, Windows, Linux, although the first mentioned is what currently applies to my situation.
Thank you.
Such a download is usually recorded in a updates or updates folder in the program folder or the Firefox application.
You can delete this folder to cancel the download. If the files have already been downloaded, then delete the files in the folder updates\0 and updates.

There are several Web sites and online services that become a problem or are unusable for me because I don't have the latest version of Firefox. But I tried to update and cannot. I go to the 'Help' drop, and the "Check For Updates" option is greyed out and unselectable. Help, please!
If he has problems with the update or the permissions then simpler is to download the full version and trash the version currently installed to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the file on the desktop disk image (dmg)
- Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the present application Firefox to do a clean (re-) install
- Install the new version you downloaded
Your profile data is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you will not lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

This is the link that is provided on the help page:
ATTENTION: Is maintained only Firefox 3.6 with security and updates of stability for a short period of time. Please upgrade to the latest version of Firefox.
It's page, need me to, and I can't find information about how upgrade to one later version other than "check for updates" in the menu options, which does not (I'm told that there is none and that Firefox will periodically check the updates)

The current plan is to start offering updates of Firefox 7 for current users of Firefox 3.6 within this week. For now, just 3.6 users get updates minor 3.6.x. If you want to install the latest version now, you can simply download and install from Mozilla.com.
