  I asked this before and got a solution but I now use another computer and I can't find the old answer. It's under tools/options/advanced. I want the entire message that I answer to included in the response and not any text that happens to be selected. (I wish it was possible to print too, but it wasn't the last time I asked).

  Tools > Options > advanced > general tab
  Click the Config Editor button
  at the top of the search page of type: response
  Look for this line:
  Mailnews.reply_quoting_selection; Value = true

  Double click on this line to turn "True" to "false".

  do the same for this line:
  Mailnews.reply_quoting_selection.multi_word; Value = true

  then close with top right X
  Click OK to save the changes to the Options

  OK this is what I came up with.
  Flash Paper stores text as static text information here:
  myFP.document_mc.pages_mc.page1_mc.rawPage_mc

  (1) obtain a TextSnapshot object.
  (2) TextSnapshot.findText method to return the starting index of the search term
  (3) TextSnapshot.getTextRunInfo on the index of the search expression to return the referance of corner points
  4) push on an array and loop until TextSnapshot.findText returns-1

  You can then use the table to draw rectangles loverly in exactly the right poitions in color what ever you want.

  Now, how can I select text, since I do not see the text Selector icon in the toolbar and I currently my cursor 'stuck' on a dynamic zoom slider I've previously selected and now can't get rid of.

  You don't need to add anything to the toolbar as it exists already. Make sure your program window is wide enough to see the tools. You have the Pan tool and the text tool on the toolbar of controls on the Page, shown here as a floating toolbar.

  

  You must move your cursor to the bottom of the document window in order to see the controls on the Page if they are floating. If you prefer, you can anchor the with the toolbars at the top of the page by clicking on the icon to the right indicating the arrow upward. The two icons on the left are the ones you describe, I believe.

• Copy the text in the pdf format gives me gobbledygook. Is there a way to OCR to correct?

  I have some documents that are complete gibberish when I select the text and copy. If I open them in Acrobat Pro, select text, copy and "Show clipboard" in the Finder, I see a lot of 'skull characters', and if I open them in the preview and do the same thing, I see strings of points. The text in the Clipboard may not intelligible stuck being in any other program, and I can't find the document.

  Some of these documents were downloaded from commercial sites. One of them is from (I think) OCR'ing has scanned the document using ClearScan. An example of such a document is at https://public.me.com/ix/alanterra/Reynoso%202006%20p%201.pdf?disposition=download+1317001 233647 (small, 55 K).

  It seems to me only one way to do this is to convert the document into a "scanned" pdf, then OCR it. But the only way I can understand how this is the image of each page separately in Photoshop and then assemble the pages into a new document.

  There must be a way to solve this problem.

  PS - If you look at the document linked to above, you will notice that the text in the footer is consistent, but not the text in the body of the document.

  You will be able to use the OCR in Acrobat after you convert the outline type. You will need to add transparency, then use the Flattener Preview to expose your type. Here are the steps (for Acrobat 9):

  1. the document > watermark > Add (add a text watermark, press the SPACEBAR once).

  2 advanced > Print Production > overview of flattening > convert all text to outlines text (box). Record.

  3. the document > OCR text recognition > recognize text using OCR. Select all text with the text tool, copy.

  This method is not perfect, you will need to check the copy to find errors.

  I have a .pdf document that is arranged in columns.  I tried export in crude as a .doc file and copy/paste-ing text highlighted text.  In each case, the text comes out tangled.  In other words, it reads a line across all three columns.  If the text among the three columns tangle together and very tedious to separate and pick up in the right order.

  I have a lot of text extracted of .pdfs but have not run into this problem before.  Is it possible to fix it?

  For the selection of text in the column, you can use the tool of selection in column selection mode. To do this, go to tools > Select & Zoom > selection tool. Afterwards, press the Alt key and drag to select the desired column. By pressing the Alt key with the active selection tool the selection Mode of the column.

  I have a custom firefox extension that captures data on the Clipboard, as well as a selected text in the document in firefox. It is, whenever I select the text, it replaces the data in the Clipboard with the data of selected text. The Clipboard is always mirroring my text selection. I need to turn it off. Alternatively, make sure that the selected text gets sent to primary Clipboard, while firefox extension accesses Clipboard. (I guess that nsIClipboard retrieves data from the Clipboard vs primary school-press-papers).

  I am convinced that selected text is poured in the Clipboard and not the primary Clipboard. Selected text always overrides everything I copied using Ctrl + C command. Central to the mouse click or Ctrl + V out same thing.

  I have changed the default setting in about:config to clipboard.autocopy value= false. I have restarted my system and selected text still saves to clipboard.  This issue does show up on this thread here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=854565. But it is checked as solved. Apologies if this question should have been posted there. I am using Linux Mint 17, Firefox 32.0.3

  I solved the problem. Firstly, I've updated all my software, which had no effect. Then I realized that another extension can add this feature. And voila! I'm sure that search the fastest was the culprit. I disabled the addon, even though this feature can probably be disabled.

  I hope this helps future users who face this same problem.

  I have a classic report with an apex_item.checkbox2 as the first column. I also had to add a "Select all" check box in the header. I did it by adding this to the column header

  However, there is a requirement where in I need to disable this "topic" check all (line remain) when a certain field is not filled.

  For example: P2_fLAG which is a page element is null, then select it title all the checkbox should be disabled.

  Is this possible?

  I think that the idea first of activation and deactivation of select box everything is the best approach. Always better to prevent the user from doing something than to allow them to do it and then tell them they can't.

• Text and the direct Selection tool?

  When I place a space for the text or graphic, the box has an external box around it. The space between the two sets of text blocks lines. I have to use the direct Selection tool to capture the corners and close the gap.

  I have a set of adjustment that I can't find out. I would not have this second line in the boxes. Y at - it of some sort that I can disable that?

  This is an indication of the film text limit. You have a default text wrapping. To turn on it took off for new arrivals make sure nothing is selected and open the text layout Panel and do not select the icon of film no. Do the same thing without papers open to make sure have not set it as a global default value for the application.
