Disable SimplePass

I just bought a Pavilion dv7-4165dx.  It comes with SimplePass fingerprint reader.  I'm not quite ready to use this feature yet.  How can I disable it so that I do not see it until I'm ready to try.

Thank you

You can either reinstall HP Recovery Manager to "reinstall the software program"section, or you can download it here ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50001-50500/sp50048.exe

  • Policy of Google Chrome - disabled Simplepass extension

Yesterday, Google Chrome automatically disabled all extensions do not offer their online store on my PC.  This figure includes simplepass extension.  It cannot be reactivated.  It appears a new change in google's policy.

It was understood that they would block the new extensions, but they made the effective policy of extensions you installed as well.

Y at - it a known work around or is a current solution?

    Hello dvovthokie,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I apologize that your SimplePass extension no longer works with Chrome. I'll start with a few steps, first of all, as well as a theory that I have that might help:

    1. uninstall your current version of HP SimplePass and install it (even if it is the same): HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software Version 6.0.100.276

    2. If it does not help: (it is more of a workaround than anything)

    (a) go to settings in Chrome. Search for the "Extensions" menu and click on "get more extensions".

    (b) in the Chrome Web Store, search for "SimplePass" and it should appear under the Extensions. Click on '+ free' to install it, then try to use it.

    3. you can try to reset the Chrome to default settings: reset the browser settings

4 system restore, just because the time travel can be useful: System Restore

    5. try the steps in an Incognito window (Yes, I just suggested that). Incognito mode disables all extensions by default (at least it's supposed to). You can re-enable any extensions, including ones site connection.

    6. download and install an older version of Chrome, then try to get SimplePass and connection extensions Web site works: Old Version of Google Chrome

If none of this helps, then I'll propose some complex measures. This requires working in Developer Mode.

1 switch in Developer Mode via the Extensions menu.

    2. Note the ID of the extension (for example, jilhkcaiaaepfiajaebpkmhonmfgabhf)

    3. go in C: / / Users / / AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User/Data/Default/Extensions- name of the user account -/- extension ID -1.8 (or another number, you have a different number)

4 copy the path of the file.

    5. go back to the Menu Extension of Chrome and click «Load extension unpacked...» ». Paste or search the above path and press ENTER.

    6. the extension should now be re-created and active (or activate). You may have to restart the computer.

Please respond with your results of this diagnosis. I want to crack this case for you

  • Envy 17: HP SimplePass edition Windows 10

    Hello

I'll have a bit of a problem on the HP SimplePass application which is here on my PC. When I connect Windows 10 for the first time, after my computer starts up, it works very well every time. The problems start occurring when restart my PC from sleep. I slide my finger on the sensor while it is flashing and nothing happens. The sensor flashes white and nothing happens on my screen. Then, I then try to enter the password but nothing happens when I press Enter on my keyboard. Then close right, the screen starts flashing and flahing, and there is nothing I can do to stop it. It's as if the program freezes my entire system. In this case Everythime I have to hard reboot my PC, because there is nothing else I can do, making me lose all my work and always open windows on the system.

This problem only occurs when I restart my PC from sleep and done have occurred since I've upgraded to Windows 10. Should I somehow reinstall HP SimplePass? Or maybe reset it somehow? I've now disabled SimplePass on my PC, because I am worried that I have something important will have to open on my PC and cannot reconnect. Please help, I would like to get this matter resolved. I'm on Windows 10 (64-bit).

    Hey @dgeddes!

That is great news! I'm euphoric that the troubleshooting steps I had helped you fixed the issue you had with Sleep Mode and Simplepass.

When it comes to updates, I suggest that you use this link for the HP Support Assistant. If you have already, just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that must be updated frequently. This should keep you updated from that moment!

Now that we have solved the problem, please share what has worked for you with others by marking this post as an acceptable Solution.

Thank you for recognition with the congratulations!

I hope you have a great weekend!

  • How to stop SimplePass ask to remember the web site passwords

Every time I connect to a web site in Internet Explorer, SimplePass appears asking is that I want to remember the password:

I have the option to retain connections web site disabled:

I could ignore it, but SimplePass blocks IE to continue until I answer.

I am running Windows 8.1 on a new Touchsmart Envy 15 15-j151nr laptop.

I like to use the fingerprint sensor to log on windows, but I have to disable SimplePass if I can't solve this problem.

    Thank you!

I managed to find a way to disable the part of eve of SimplePass browser password but keep the possibility to connect to my computer by using the fingerprint reader.

    1. That's assuming you're on Windows 8.1
    2. Go to the desktop
    3. Move your mouse to the bottom left corner until the WIndows logo appears
    4. Right-click on the logo
    5. Select Task Manager from the list
    6. When Task Manager starts, if it's just a small window without tab at the top, click on "More details" in the lower left corner of the screen
    7. Click on the "Startup" tab
    8. You should see a line that says "HP SimplePass request (3)" and many who say "HP SimplePass BHO broker. Right-click on each one and select "disable."
    9. Exit the Task Manager and restart your system.

Once the system is restarted, you should still be able to connect swyping your finger. But SimplePass is more you will be prompted to save passwords.

An additional advantage to this, is that IE seems much more responsive.

  • How can I activate SimplePass now that Google has blocked the Chrome Extensions

Recently, Chrome has been updated to block all the extensions that are not bought from their online store. My PC (a Pavilion dv6) came with HP SimplePass installed. I use it for all my online password management, but now it is blocked by the Chrome (my preferred browser).

There are, apparently, a SimplePass extension available on the site of the shop online chrome, but he says that it will work only with SimplePass version 8. I have version6. The current owner of the SimplePass - Softexinc.com - indicates anything about getting the software updates.

The combination of player SimplePass/ingerprint was part of the reason why I bought this particular PC in the first place. I'll be very disappointed if I never use it again. Please help me to re - activate this feature.

    Edited to add:

OK, it's even worse. I found a download for SimplePass version 8. But there is no upgrade path. Features of import/export of the two versions are incompatible, there is no way to migrate all data from my login/password from the old to the new version. Please, HP, address any of these problems:

-create a SimplePass upgrade to convert data from old formats

-develop a Chrome extension that works with SimplePass v6 AND meets the requirements of Google to allow it to run

-improve SimplePass 8 to be compatible with the (older) versions of SimplePass

    Hi all

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I'll address the Chrome and extension of fingerprint reading question. I've solved the exact problem for a single user by following the steps in this thread: Chrome - policy disabled Simplepass extension

Other suggestions include the use of SimplePass on Internet Explorer and FireFox. Although, if you want to try to get Chrome working again, you can try the steps that I have proposed.

Here are the steps from the thread:

    1. uninstall your current version of HP SimplePass and install it (even if it is the same): HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software Version 6.0.100.276

These measures should be sufficient to solve the problem, according to what experimentation I've done. For reasons of this problem, let me know what happens after trying each step.

I will continue to follow this thread, while playing with Chrome and SimplePass eventually discover more solutions. Please let me know your results. Thank you!

  • How can I disable the SimplePass fingerprint reader for now?

    DV7 6143 cl, Windows 7 64 bit.

The computer is several months old, and yesterday I finally had the time to look at everything on the machine to see what was useful.

For the first time I opened SimplePass (AuthenTec version I think) and implemented with my Windows logon.

It works and can be useful in the future, but not so much right now so I would like to disable or turn off the drive without uninstalling the software.

Also, just curious, the implementation of procedure I used was not like any tutorials on HP sites.

It is best to leave things as they are as long as the software is quiescent. It is a simple matter to restore your registration when you want to use the logins SimplePass. Merry Christmas!

    Hi, sorry for the wait...

What version of Windows are you using?

    Try this:

    1 run.
    2. type netplwiz
    3. users tab

4 uncheck users must enter a user name and password to use this computer

    5. click on apply, Ok

  • Why you continue to block HP SimplePass?

Seriously, it's ridiculous that HP SimplePass is considered to be 'dangerous '? You don't just want us to use it!

[quote] P.S. Softexinc has a system of support. I asked them if it was signed - we'll see what they come back with. /quote

Maybe I was lax in not related information. Softexinc (the provider of the software) responded to my support request and indicated that they sent a new version of Simplepass to HP, which is the owner. It's HP to find the time to check the add-on with Mozilla, they say.

As the update of January the end of Firefox did NOT prevent the effectiveness of the work around, I had not given any thought. SimplePass working on my latest and greatest Firefox (despite the threat of arrest him.)

The only thing I noticed when the last update came was that I had to disable/enable Simplepass so he could start working.

  • HP ENVY 17 G0U21AV - is there a way to disable the fingerprint reader?

    I use a HP ENVY 17 G0U21AV 8.1 Windows.

This model came with a fingerprint reader in the lower left corner of the computer. Although this seems to be a nice feature, it is not one that I plan on using (I use LastPass to my passwords). I keep my Palm on the scanner that will bring to the top of the screen for HP SimplePass accidentally part traffic. This can come from the most inopportune moments, and it can become quite annoying always trying consciously avoid the fingerprint reader.

Is it possible to disable the fingerprint reader?

    Thank you.

    @DSWJoshua,

Thanks for posting. You can disable the fingerprint reader. For completeness, I'll give you steps to disable the driver itself and the biometric support, so you should not worry about this later.

To disable the driver, go to control panel, then Device Manager. Expand biometric devices. Right-click on the sensor of validity and uninstall it.

To disable biometric support, go to the Control Panel, biometric devices then. Uncheck allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints, and then save it.

  • SimplePass update, icon now always made the pinned to the taskbar

On my laptop dv6t, I let the software auto-updated to HP install what he wanted to update. After he did, an icon associated with Simplepass is pinned to the taskbar and I can't get rid of it.  Right click and select 'Unpin this program from the taskbar' do nothing.  How can I get rid of him. I want to keep the program. But don't want the icon pinned to the taskbar.

Then, when I opened Microsoft Excel, he said that a material change has been detected and I have to re - activate. Why would this happen?  How can I keep it from happening. Is it better to just never leave HP update anything?

I tried something in the sense of what aperez1221 suggested, and it seems to be an acceptable solution. I wasn't sure what you mean by ' unchecking the pass simple site.»  So I opend SimplePass and entered parameters.  I unchecked everything under "activate features and then tried to re - check one by one.  I have determined that only LaunchSite deactivating solves the problem and seems to leave the programme of work as it did before.  So thank you aperez1221 for pointing me in the right direction.

I don't know what I'm missing out on by disabling LaunchSite.  This solution may not work for anyone who uses the features enabled by LaunchSite. I did not understand what are these features. Seems like QuickLaunch, which allows me to drag a finger to open a program or a web site (in a new browser window). And I can still connect to websites using my finger as well.  Thus, with only disabled LaunchSite, SimplePass plans what he did before and no longer repinned himself to the taskbar.

I left that open for now in case someone has a solution that requires no LaunchSite, regardless of disabling that does.

  • Pavilion dv7: SimplePass vs LastPass

I used LastPass my jump of password for a year now in Windows 7. To validate, I use the fingerprint reader. Everything worked fine; When LastPass promts for my fingerprints, I drag my finger on the reader and LastPass responds correctly.

Because I have upgraded to Windows 10 However, LastPass promts every time for validation and I slide my finger, SimplePass begins. So I close SimplePass, sliding my finger again, then on LastPass responds.

Now the fingerprint reader is tightly integrated with SimplePass. If I disable the functions as in SimplePass Launch Site, then the fingerprint reader no longer activate LastPass.

Is it possible to have the fingerprint reader directly with LastPass, as he used to work under Windows 7?
