• Inaccessible VMs - Signature to keep or create new signature?

  Hi all

  After the server restarts to install some new RDIMMs, data warehouses seem to have disappeared. RAID status for 1 on hard drives has been degraded (I decided to swap out all 3 disks for another series to see if it has changed anything), all 3 drives are online and happy after a RAID rebuild.

  Once I connected the vSphere client, I noticed that the data warehouses were missing. Please see the attachment.

  Then, I came across the option to add a data store. Which brings me to ask me if I keep the VMFS signature or create a new one?

  This occurs when the host detects a new device of storage with an existing VMFS and a UUID file system already assigned to another storage device.

  Usually, SAN-snapshots, which present one copy under a different ID LUN or modify manually the LUN IDS can trigger this. Don't know how this relates to the process of reconstruction of the RAID, but I usually do not expect this behavior.

  In the case of SAN-snapshot, where you want to access the original and copy the store of data simultaneously, you will will the VMFS to be able to access both. Will treats it like a new data store, then the old VMs will keep being listed as orphans, and you need to browse the 'new' data store to add virtual machines in stock again.

  But if the 'old' storage device is "definitely lost", which means that it will not re-apper with his old ID, you can keep the signature.

  In your case, it won't matter too much, but I would opt for the preservation of the signature.

• After years of stability, FW800 drives now randomly disappear

  I have a Mac Mini to / 2009 with 6 2 TB G-drives attached via FireWire 800 and configured as RAID 6 to mirrored volume. My system has been configured in this way for about 4 years.

  About three months ago I started having problems with the volume randomly endangered (incorrect disc is ejected). It happens when the drives are inactive and when there is an intense activity of IO - makes no difference. When this problem started, the volume has been configured with the AppleRAID and disks are connected in Garland, one to the other, on the back of my Mac Mini. I have since turned off all power management features, replaced cables, left for SoftRAID(4) AppleRAID, reset the Mac Mini, reinstalled OS X, makes a partial disk swap off Spotlight, put a fan on the push to reduce their usage time and installed a powered hub of Nitro AV to remove the Garland. No substantive changes - only they don't give up much, but it happens still regularly (every 24-48 hours).

  Interestingly, not all 6 discs disappear. Sometimes when it's just one, or maybe two or three or even five of the six. I can't decipher a pattern. I find it odd that only some readers drop out and those who is different every time. Sometimes reboot will bring them back, but not always. The only sure method to get the reader to put it back online is tension on the drive.

  The one constant I've observed more recently is there is always this error FireWire a few seconds to a minute before readers abandon "Lucent ID 5901 integrated: handleUnrecoverableErrorInt.» I did some research and found not much - more info on audio problems than drives.

  Before moved me to SoftRAID(4), who owns a proprietary driver limit myself to a single PC, I moved the disk on another machine of circa-2009 (a MBP). The problem was always present, but not as bad. Maybe an obscure issue with interaction between El Capitan and my older hardware?

  This problem has led to problems of significant data corruption and too many hours of troubleshooting of headaches and so I'm done with FW and move to a Synology NAS. I thought I would check here if to see if there is new way of thinking about this old topic or something obvious that I may have missed my troubleshooting.

• Disappears from the main window of the activity monitor

  I'm under El Capitan 10.11.5, 15F34 build on an iMac (retina, 5K, 27 inch, mid-2015). If I open the activity monitor, I get the CPU usage, but the main window will briefly appear and disappear. If I minimize and restore, I also get it for a fraction of a second and then it seems to fall back on the dock. The history of CPU option (cmd 3) is grayed out, although I can get it as the icon in the dock.

  My question, then, is what caused this problem and how to restore to normal activity monitor?

  Please read this message before doing anything.

  This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

  Step 1

  The goal of this step is to determine if the problem is localized to your user account.

  Select the feedback connections* and log in as a guest. Do not use the Safari connection only 'user comments' created by 'find my Mac '.

  While signed in as a guest, you will have access to your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you use them for the first time. Do not be alarmed by this behavior; It's normal. If you need any password or other personal information in order to complete the test, save, print, or write them before you start.

  Test while signed in as a guest. Same problem?

  After testing, log on to the guest account and in your own account, disable it if you wish. The files that you created in the guest account will be automatically deleted when you log out of it.

  * Note: If you have enabled 'find my Mac' or FileVault, then you cannot activate the guest account. The login 'User comments' created by 'Find my Mac' is not the same. Create a new account to test and delete it, including his home folder, after testing.

  Step 2

  The goal of this step is to determine if the problem is caused by changes in the system of third party that load automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.

  Please take this step regardless of the results of step 1.

  Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.

  Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.

  Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

  The login screen is displayed even if you normally connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

  Test in safe mode. Same problem?

  After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of steps 1 and 2.

  I have an old 'Tower' MacPro and I just put two internal disks in RAID 1 using the terminal in El Capitan. Whenever I put something in the trash, it gets deleted immediately (with a warning from the Finder). How can I fix?

  When I upgraded to W7 to W10, my Intel Matrix Storage Manager disappeared and I learned that it is no longer supported.

  As you know, about three days after making that the main drive of a raid1 configuration. has failed.

  The Intel Matrix Storage Manager software has been replaced by the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) software.

  If you can rebuild your RAID array using the Matrix Storage Manager software, then you should be able to do the same thing with the software of the RST.

  You want the last file on the left side of the Web page.  It should work on W10 too.

  UPDATE: I reinstalled drivers all again, with the same results as below. Crash with in the first 5 min to display of average quality settings. So I decided to try the package unistall supplied with the updated driver. I used ATI unistaller package Legacy 13-9 AMD/ATI. UNISTALL the express button. After uninstall properly finished and before I reinstalled the same driver package, I checked to see what drivers were still missing.  And that's my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370 returned on my device manager after the Unistall. I have not crushed then game drivers or lost when you restart.

  FYI back, when I did a clean install on with HP sp50599.exe driver with auto install and even when I did the installation myself, display drivers do not work properly. Not until I used the uninstall program DDU then did a clean install (which means a new driver package never run) with MS 50599.exe, reboot, I then installed the card ATI 13-9 Legacy pilot, (download the fresh). The computer crashed shortly after that, I used the unistaller inherited from 13-9. After Unistalling my drivers. THE pilots finally actually work properly... what a mouthful. Seems illogical, but it is what it is.

  AMD / ATI switchable graghics. Ati HD 6300 drivers disappear after use / restart. I have to reinstall both HP sp50599.exe / then ATI drivers inherited from 13-9. He works for a short time, then goes down the chart high-definition and which X 11. 4200 drivers are fine in Device Manager but no driver HD 6300. I think they were the 6300 series cannot be verified until I have reinstall the GPU drivers because they appear in Device Manager. Think also that the Mobility Radeon is a M880.  Checked for hardware change and found nothing.  Uninstall AMD did not have Direct X 11 work properly, that it ran slowly and hot even on smaller settings if the Direct X 11 works not at all. The DDU uninstaller it works beautifully not running hot with the default game settings are almost at the upper end. Beautiful graphics and very smooth controls. But now the fall on the problem with the display drivers. I use the xbox 360 controller pc hand instead of via USB key board. I did have a problem with any top end games (Deus Ex human Resources, Tomb Raider, Batman Arkham City.) Until I ran FFXIII-2, it is a terrible and taxed my graphic system console port and crashed it. First noticed HD Audio dropped then rendered account that this view HD controller did not work. Now when I reinstall display drivers other games live X II causes the crash.

  I created a Raid 1 with two drives of 6 TB using the disk through the Terminal commands. Everything worked well.  I've just updated to 10.11.3 and now the reader rises at all.  I looked in the disk utility, and he could not see. I ran the diskutil list command in the terminal and she also could not see the disks.

  Any idea what would cause this?

  My system disk is also a Raid created with disk... utility and it works fine. It is built with two ssds on a PCIe Sonnet Raid 0 card.

  Well, then the drive is showing now.

  I realized that a reboot was not enough to completely turn off readers and then turn again.

  When I tried to restart the other night, it still does not show upward. I tried to reboot in safe mode and it didn't work either. I turned my computer off... went to work... came home and it was fine.

  My graphics card has a reboot that requires a reboot. When it restarted the car was missing again. I stopped and started place... and the car was back.

  Weird... but solved.

AI? m not as technically of mind that I use to be then I would be really helpful if someone could me an idiots guide (a di mean infallible) how to recover this disc.

  Where is this you disable the RAID parameters? What did you do in the BIOS?

  Please note that if you change the RAID settings in the BIOS, you will lose data and the files on the HARD drive!

  To my knowledge, you will find the RAID settings on the third page of the BIOS.
  I remember the JBOD option disable the RAID and you will be able to complete the installation of the restore CD.

  In any case all these information is placed in the user's manual then take and check it ;)

• ReadyNAS Duo - RAID 0 - failed disk

  I have a ReadyNAS Duo V2 with 2 x 2 TB disks. One of the readers of course missed, because it has been reported and then stop. I removed it from its Bay.

  Now since the two drives in RAID 0, I wonder if there is a way to try to recover the data to work at least another HDD and a best screenplay - both.

  Before you say that, I know that RAID 0 is not a good idea. But this is a case I need your help with.

  RAID 0 is not a redundant RAID. If you have 2 drives in a single RAID 0, disk failure causes you have almost no chance to recover all the data that the data are not redundant and distributed on disks with no parity. If you have 2 volumes, each a RAID 0, all data on the disk that died disappeared completely.

  Depending on what happened to your old drive, you can probably consider cloning this drive. There are many resources online to help you with this. NETGEAR support can try fee non-refundable diagonstic (see their articles on data recovery).

  The file system on the Duo v2 is ext, so you might be able to get off the fragments of your data, but likely not large files.

  My suggestion is clone your bad RAID 0 disk to a good disk and try restarting your ReadyNAS in normal mode.

  Looking for entry and helps in this decision-making process.  Considering an iMac on a MacPro I for the convenience of space and portability currently and want to ask people here in the Mac publishing community for their 'opinion' and ' experience' with similar applications, work or use.  I have retired and you want to reduce the amount of work that I do more to clean up my workspace of excessive and other cables.

  Or the other system I edit with Photoshop CS5, FCPX, Lightroom and use (use) external thunderbolt matrix RAID 0 with two internal disks, mini disks external hard thunderbolt and a CD/DVD/BluRay external burner.  I will edit not 3D.  I will edit 1 4K video camera eventually, but not much.  Most of my work will be no emergency BUT that said when I'm working I don't LIKE COLOR WHEEL LOOKS or mini jams.  Finally, I get the SSD single bolt of lightning and hope that sometimes in 2016 thunderbolt RAID 0 with dual SSD.

  just an opinion, no experience in this League of the boxes, no users 'pro', just an amateur enthusiast here...:

  I'm 4-6 rivers multicam editing on my MacMini (well Yes, tupperware box) on a weekly basis, no beach balls - how is it? FCPX using ' smart function to distribute the media on several media (and mine are just usb3, no CT). Bulit (transformation, CC, Center) effects are 'live', no need renderining effects no wheels, no waiting.

  My latest toy is a cam 4 (Lumix fz1k) k - without no flaws, no lock either using proxies.

  speaking of proxies, ok, when it comes to conversions on im - and export, I must admit hours might go look at a bar, more and more warp of snail...

• Newly created files have disappeared

  Three days ago, I created a new folder with 10 files in PhotoShop CC 2015. These files were created on one of the three internal data disks only. I have a MacPro OSX 10.9.5, with 14gbs or RAM.

  Yesterday, I opened Photoshop to look at these files. They all are listed in Photoshop just opened, but when I tried to open them, it says that file not found.

  So, I opened Finder, but the directory and all the files are missing. I searched with Spotlight and EasyFind, but they don't return any results.

  I ran Disk Warrior, thinking that maybe the directory for this drive has been corrupted, but the files do not show up.

  I have two backups of this drive. A cloud on Backblaze that is updated throughout the day and on one another internal drive it is updated nightly with SuperDuper. Two of these backup drives also are these missing files. I guess that means, given that I created first of all these new files, they some kind disappeared from my source drive and then were later deleted from the back-ups when they have been synchronized. I don't have a Time Machine drive.

  I ran disk drill and Wondershare data recovery to try to locate and recover these files. The only files that they have located are the versions of these files created by Photoshop Autosave. These versions are not recoverable.

  I have not opened or deleted all the files on this disc, since I created these files. Although OSX or SuperDuper had a brain * and deleted, I think they should be not have been crushed and should be recoverable.

  I worked on Macs since 1994 and PhotoShop since 1998 and I'm not aware of the files disappear on their own, as they apparently did.

  Any advice on:

  1. what else can I try to find these files?

  2. what could have caused to disappear in the first place?

  3. how to prevent this from happening in the future?

  I'll set up a Time Machine disk which I assume would have helped in this case since it is not synchronized in the same way as SuperDuper and Blackblaze, right?

  I just bought second M5M 256Go mSATA plextor and I ve inserted in mSATA for adapter SATA (pictures below)
  And I was about to create RAID 0 but I can not...! ? Won't let me?
  System in AHCI mode sees the two discs in the sequence start, but when I change the mode RAID 0 drive disappears in the boot order... There is not even CTRL I, option to NVRAIDMAN to create RAID 0... but the RAID mode is present? ! ? !
  No idea how to create RAID 0?
