  • Question on Pavilion DV6-2140EF memory upgrade

    Hello

I tried to replace my 2 * 2GB memory modules by modules of 2 * 4 GB on my Pavilion DV6-2140EF

The maintenance manual mentioned that each module of memory should be 4096-MB, 1066 MHz DDR-3 DIMM (part number 579155-001)

It supports the total system memory of 8192 MB (4096 MB x 2, dual-channel).

I bought these two 4 GB modules:

    Corsair RAM DDR3 up to 1066 CL9 Kit2 COR

But it did not work. Windows 7 64 bit Pro could not start, even if the memory of 8 GB was visible through the BIOS and test memory BIOS was ADOPTED. I tried with a single 4GB module and I had the same problem. When I handed the older modules, it worked good gain.

Now, I am planning to buy these modules:

    Crucial 8GB Kit (4GBx2) 204-pin PC3-8500 DDR3 SODIMM, Unbuffered, CL = 7, NON ECC, DDR3-1066, 1.5V, 512Meg x 64

    Would this work better?

  • HP Pavilion dv6-2145er: SSD for HP Pavilion dv6-2145er

    Hello.
I want to spend the hard drive of your laptop. Instead of the standard hard drive Hitachi 320 GB 7200 RPM SATA 3 Gb / s, I want to put the EVO of 850 Samsung SSD 250 GB. But there, for some reason, is not determined by the system. My laptop is an SSD? I also updated the BIOS with the latest version, but it did not help.

    Hello @Elbrus,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I read your message and understand that you are trying to upgrade the drive in your computer, HP Pavilion dv6-2145er. I have searched and have met the maintenance and care guide. It will help you with that which is compatible with your laptop. If a computer supports SATA SSD should work as long as it brings together the same or more memory than the original drive.

    Hello

Yes, you can add it. A 160 GB ssd is listed as compatible, but I think that the ability is not limited.

What I did when I replaced my hard drive with an ssd has been to perform a new installation of Windows (same version) using the product number (do not register Windows online!) at the bottom of the laptop. Then I waited a message to record the OS and saved on the phone. Maybe a recovery reduced image created in the HP Recovery Manager can restore the system of origin on an SSD. These are usually smaller than the original hard drives and the recovery process ends with an error with the original image recovery disks.

Edit: you will need a support (in case you want to keep the old hdd in the secondary hard drive Bay) etc so the right part number is: 681976-001. Run the part number on google or ebay to get it.

  • Pavilion dv6-7025tx: support PAD for SSD on HP Pavilion dv6-7025tx

When you used the command fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify and a 0 response was returned, your OS said that the Trim is enabled.

Ensure that the defragmentation is disabled and the indexing of files is disabled. That's all you need to do.

Your SSD firmware has garbage collection utility that performs housekeeping tasks to optimize performance.

You can ask the manufacturer of the SSD if you want more information. You can also read the plethora of documentation available on the web of the SSD manufacturers and passionate Web sites. Do some work of leg on your own. There are many other threads where members are waiting for us to help.

  • Pavilion dv6 - problems with drivers-

    Dear HP-forum

I recently installed a beautiful new SSD in my Pavilion dv6-notebook.
Because I had to reinstall windows, I also need drivers for video cards 2.

First, I installed the driver 'Intel(r) HD Graphics 3000' for the integrated graphics card (more driver technology intel quick strorage), and the laptop start very, very smooth.

Then I downloaded (and installed) the driver for the card 'ATI AMD Radeon HD 7400 M Series' dedicated.
There seems to be a little trouble when I start my windows now, during the final stages of the boot, the screen freezes and the computer takes about 20-40 seconds to "thaw" and load the office.

I tried to remove the Chuck, and reinstall only--> no chance.

Other things also indicate that drivers are in 'conflict ':
-L' index performance windows shows the same scores for gaminggraphics and windowsgraphics. (indicating the same driver/is used, then that card before the upgrade, that was higher than the other)

    What I've done wrong?

the graphics card is the following:
    PCI\VEN_1002 & DEV_6760 & SUBSYS_1656103C & REV_00
    PCI\VEN_1002 & DEV_6760 & SUBSYS_1656103C
    PCI\VEN_1002 & DEV_6760 & CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_1002 & DEV_6760 & CC_0300

    those embedded:
    PCI\VEN_8086 & DEV_0116 & SUBSYS_1656103C & REV_09
    PCI\VEN_8086 & DEV_0116 & SUBSYS_1656103C
    PCI\VEN_8086 & DEV_0116 & CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_8086 & DEV_0116 & CC_0300

It would be nice to get the laptop work.
    Greetngs,
    Roland

    I don't think it's the right driver.

I explored all the files in the folder, and I don't see any drivers for AMD graphics card in there.

All graphics drivers again once, reboot and install it would uninstall...

  • SSD Pavilion dv6-3118sa compatibility

I have a Pavilion DV6-3118sa laptop and the hard drive died without warning. I want to know if I can take this opportunity to replace the defective drive with an SSD.

Does anyone know if the machine is compatible with the SSD. I would like to replace it with an SSD of the same size as the HARD original (500 GB) disc.

Any help would be appreciated as there is no useful information in support of HP from their site.

Yes, a SATA SSD drive can replace a mechanical drive to SATA.

You do know that a 500 gig SSD drive will be $350 and up, right?

  • Pavilion DV6 2155dx: upgrade HARD drive to SSD

I want to upgrade my laptop Hp HDD to the SSD. Very successful on the 2 HP desktops. But not a great success on the laptop. Windows does not start with the installed SSD. Black screen with how to text of amendments, but no solution. Checking the BIOS it seems too basic and has no provision to select the correct setting. How can I upgrade the laptop to recognise and start of the SSD, as desktop computers.

Problem solved. Maybe this helps someone else.

For reference, the SSD HARD drive migration has been completed with Samsung software tools.

Although a similar migration was very successful on 2 offices of HP prior as the PC starts fine, this time the laptop set to level did not boot from SSD.

Based on the reviews elsewhere on the web, with the portable operating from the original HARD disk, I adjusted the BIOS boot sequence to boot from the internal CD-ROM. I was then already migrated SSD HARD drive. Then I started from a prior agreement prepared the repair Windows 7 Bootable disc - now I know why they are so very precious! - and started to repair startup disk said. After a few additional steps miners, he says the problem fixed and carried out traditional, clean startups.

Also, I can confirm that the Pavilion DV6 works very well with a 250 GB SSD. Most good, this is a speedster. There is therefore no limitations to 160 GB the HP Document seems to suggest.

    @Leady05 ,

Hello and welcome to the HP support forums.  Sorry to hear about hard drive failure.  Now for the bad news.  There is no driver support for windows 8.1 for your laptop.

The laptop was produced with Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit edition not windows 8 or 8.1, so it's drivers did not support to your system unless you reload Windows 7.

  • HP pavilion dv6-7045ez: impossible to start SSD

Hello, I changed my old HDD to SSD (Kingston hyperX fury 240 GB, controller SandForce® SF-2281). I tried to install windows 7, windows 10 and debian, but I still have the same problem, during installation reboot to complete, it is impossible to boot from SSD. My opinion is that the controller is not compatible with my pc (HP pavilion dv6-7045ez).

I found crucial.com who all say the ssd compatible with series dv6-7XXX (http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-dv6-7xxx-series-%28intel-ddr...). Can I trust her?

I understand that you have replaced your disk by a (fury of hyperX Kingston 240 GB) SSD and are able to install Windows, but not able to boot to it later. When I checked HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service of Guide, the Kingston drive is not part of the recommended replacements. That doesn't mean it won't work, only that it is not tested and the result is unknown. It may or may not work.  You can find this informative document. HP Notebook PC - Solid State Hard Drives. Probably not with a 2d gen i5 processor, but it does not matter. It will support an SSD SATA-III, even if the SSD transfer is limited to SATA-II. It will always be very, very fast and you will never see no practical difference. Download the SSD, you will not be sorry. Let us know if you need help most.
