Disconnections and HA hosts

Dear guys,

Due to some migration clusters I had remove hosts from clusters and join.

with HA in place before disconnecting, I got messages like: host attention, withdrawal could lead to the violation of costraints HA.

Then I disabled HA I'm sure that remove hosts, VCenter which would have seen as a failure of the hosts and HA could have been activated (switch off the virtual machines and raise them on another host).

Can you give some best practice in such a case one?

I had to also disconnect/reconnnect welcomes for the resettlement of the VPA officers and I had the same warnings.

Thanks in advance.

Daniele

HA will kick if the host cannot see the other guests of the HA cluster and fail to ping their address of isolation.   Usually the address of isolation is the entry door unless you specify something different.

I have a few clusters at two knots in some of my field, and I discovered the hard way, that the best thing to do is to disable HA before performing any maintenance operation.  In clusters, we have more than two nodes, I have no issues removing, restarting, or disconnect a single host in the cluster.

  • I had a breakdown and even if my host has been turned off, he showed only disconnected and HA na not kick in.

The trouble is, my Dev Environment has worked well, showing does not and HA worked, then that my production did not.

The cause of the blackout was a power failure that the power off switch.

The production host is a 3850 M2 and development hosts are HS21 blades in a BladeChassis.

What would cause the server show disconnected?

Due to the floods here, I am unable to work and check power redundancy, or if the House of all the server went down or just simply switch.

How storage is configured on the server that is located behind the failed switch.  It is also configured the switch failed (iscsi or nfs), or is it fiber attached?

If its fiber attached and the other virtual machines were running, the other guests could not power on the virtual machine because files would still be locked.

What is the configuration of your HA settings on the cluster?  Leave power on or power off the power?

If they all leave it turned on, and then only a physical fall of the server or SAN connection would allow an HA event succeed (because file locks would be then released).  otherwise the VM running isolated, but no other host can power on the virtual machine.

It is probably a good event to happen because it caused a power failure but not a serious enough to make your life hell, it should give you more reason to push redundant switches on the side of production to ensure that a single switch failure is not bring down the environment.

  • SOLUTION for your HP printer disconnect and/or constantly disconnecting from the network

If you are having a problem printing, scanning or fax with any HP printer because of this be disconnected and constantly disconnecting from the network, here again is the fix!

I thought that this all after several failed attempts with HP Support, my Internet access provider and various troubleshooting tasks including reinstall the HP software and more and more.  Well, through self teaching on internet and exhausting search for 6 months, I FINALLY thought to it.  OMG!  I'm a paramedic (not IT) and a little computer but far not an expert.  I have all of you here!  Nobody seems to have the answer, but I'm sure that I'm doing it to 97%.  Whatever it is, if it please answer and let me know that it worked for you!  :-)

It doesn't matter if your printer is installed cable or wireless.  You don't reinstall your software, no recycling power of your printers or your router/Modem.  Your printer is unstable on the network and continues to log out or disconnect from the network it is NOT because the software is glitched, it isn't a firewall problem by saying, is not a router problem, is not a problem with your power cord, because most networks use a 'Beach' and IP addresses for security reasons This kind of "cycles" the IP addresses of the devices to reduce the risk of an attack.  A printer is not a threat, but the 'network' don't own human intelligence, so he does not know this.  Here are my step by step instructions on how to basically your printer address IP (static IP) instead of change back through a cycle so drop your printer on the network or disconnected.

Funny, if you're someone who has had the elements in your print queue, they will not print, and you turn your printer off and on again and suddenly your print... well documents, join my club.  The reason it works is that when you turn on the printer, it starts with the same IP address before cycle.  If you are someone who is sitting there for a while and all of a sudden your printed documents without changing you something... it is because through the cycle of change of IP address, it hits your printers IP address and the network would allow him to print.  Not very funny, I know.  It took me forever to figure out why my printer would print sometimes, but not always.  Since I thought at this point, I can SCAN, PRINT, and use all the features of my HP software installed like HP, Photosmart Essentials Solution Center.

On your printer, go to menu/Setup/network and press OK.  In the network menu, print a "network configuration page" so you can see the IP address and other settings of your printer.

Now, back to the main menu on the screen of your printers.  Or you can go to your web browser and type the IP address using decimal numbers too and this will take you to the web page of your printers.  Choose: setup\network, then press OK.  Look for the IP settings and press OK. Choose "manual" instead of "automatic". Manually enter the IP address it as well as the default gateway that you can see the Network Setup page you printed earlier.  Note: If you manually set the IP Address of the printer, make sure that it is outside the range of your router's DHCP. Otherwise you might encounter a problem with IP addresses on your network duplicate. (If you don't know how to do this, write back and I'll explain).  Don't forget to click "save changes".  Now, restart your computer, and print just what you want.  :-)

A trick I often use with DHCP network printers:
In printers and faxes, right-click on the printer and select "Properties".  Click Add a new port.  Choose standard TCP/IP port configured for the host name of the printer. Read the host name of the network printer configuration sheet.

Using my method means that you always connect to the printer even if its IP address changes (which can happen with the dynamic configuration). This does not jeopardize the security of your network.  It shows just your printer to stay put and stop traveling the highway of IP address.  :-)

The DHCP range is the range of IP addresses that the router distributes automatically as devices to join the network.  The DHCP range is determined by the router and each brand has a range that is set at the factory (which can be changed by you).

Default value for the DHCP of your D-link is 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199.  Thus, outside the DHCP range est.2 a.99.200 a.254.

Is a handy cheat sheet attached.

You can change this interval by entering the router settings page - type the router's IP address in a browser, enter the login information and access the DHCP parameter area (varies depending on router, hunting around).

  • Laptop goes into a spasm of disconnect and reconnect a USB 3.0 drive

Original title - USB 3.0 unplug plug back

I have 2 computers running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit. 2 computers have the same USB Microsoft drivers, the same set of Intel chips (both with the i7 processors) from the same manufacturer of motherboard. They have the same operating system, same programs, clean installs with drivers to date and windows updates, they're practically twins with the exception of a material fact; one is one laptop, the other a desktop computer.

Two computers, although very similar in there profiles of hardware (Device Manager) and in contexts there, seem to have their preferences on what USB 3.0 devices that they like or dislike.

The laptop will go into a spasm of disconnect and reconnect a USB 3.0 drive, whenever I plug. The office like this player and everything will work day and night. However, when I plug in a USB 3.0 flash drive in desktop and start transferring a file, it disconnects and reconnects the reader, which damages the transfer. The laptop like this USB 3.0 flash drive and will transfer files to and from this day and night.

Of Corse it's backup and data transfer between 2 computers, although they are very similar, very difficult. Devices USB 3.0 a computer like the other goes into a conniption fit with.

I tried everything I can think of. Updated, updates to the BIOS, software configurations, reader driver manager settings, different formats of devices, software of turbo boost, installs own, you name it. It is important to note that none of the problems happen with any of my USB 2.0 devices.

Are there not a universal standard of USB 3.0? 2 computers act as if they have 2 different USB 3.0 standards! And each device will work with a standard computers. Is there a laptop computer and a standard desktop computer? LOL, it's nuts!

    SOLVED *.

    I solved the problem.

Just ignore my other messages troubleshooting efforts earlier.

The problem is with the Microsoft Windows 8 driver for:

"Intel (R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft).

The Microsoft Driver is dysfunctional , and there is no other driver available!

I have disabled> Intel xHCI in BIOS on all my computers to get a partial solution to this problem of Microsoft .

With XHCI disabled in BIOS driver Microsoft dose does not and so I can use USB 3.0 with controller Intel devices (although they are paralyzed, at least they work now).

    As a big bonus:

My PC has 2 not intel USB 3.0 controllers!

With Intel xHCI disabled in BIOS and no Microsoft Driver to mess things up that my 2 other controllers can now go full speed USB 3.0 there little made in China drivers! Windows8 should get fixed soon!

  • Disconnecting from the host

    Hello

Couple of guests ESXi 5.0 had been disconnected and inside a few seconds showed connected in vSphere client.

During this moment, VMs on that also alerted disconnection.

I couldn't check if host could be directly connected to this moment because I wasn't on the road.

    Mihir Hello,

If the host is having more number of snapshots for virtual machines, you will be running such problems.

Please the devil on the virtual machine for large number of snapshots.

The default value of ThreadstackSizekb is 128 and can handle only a limited number of snapshots.

If you exceed this number then e will host disconnected.

Rather than increase the value of threadstack, we can delete or consolidate snapshots for virtual machines.

There is a line in the file vpxa.cfg on the host that has a entry and the value 128.  When vpxa service attempts to connect to vCenter this Thread stack is limited to not allow the virtual machines that are too many clichés.

If you do not want the pictures should be deleted, we will increase the threadstacksize so that the host can handle more number of snapshtos.

Please let me know if you still have questions.

    Thank you

  • the upgrade to esxi 4.1 to 5.1 and moving hosts to 5.1 VC

We always have a lot of guests esxi 4.1 running in VC 4.1

the plan is to move these hosts to 5.1 (already built) VC and upgrade hosts with her

    That I should

    a. take a host in vc 4.1, in maintenance mode,

    b. update, patch. etc...

out of the maintenance of the c mode.

    d. move vms back on

host e is disconnected. the cluster

    f. remove a host cluster and vc4.1

    g. connect host to new cluster in vc5.1

    thoughts?

You have a perfect plan. But you need to make changes in the order steps

    The correct order would be:

    disconnect the cluster host

remove the cluster host and vc4.1

connect the host to the new cluster in vc5.1

Take the host in vc 5.1, in maintenance mode,

    Update, patch. etc...

    exit maintenance mode

    move virtual machines on it

You can manage guests 4.1 to 5.1 VC. If all the guests move there first and then upgrade one at a time

  • Need a powercli script to create a new account a local administrator on all ESX and ESXi hosts in the vcenter

    Hi all

If someone can help me with a powercli script to create a new account a local administrator on all ESX and ESXi hosts in the vcenter, create a role called admin and give all access except the root. This shoulb be past by a virtual centre.

Very much appreciated to help him.

    Kind regards

I suspect that you posted your question to the wrong thread

This requires only a minor change to the script above actually.

    Something like that

    $groupName = "group"$accountName = "user"$accountPswd = "password"$accountDescription = "A user"

    $esxlist = Get-VMHostforeach($esx in $esxlist){ Connect-VIServer -Server $esx -User root -Password "password"

        Try {      Get-VMHostAccount -Id $groupName -Group -ErrorAction Stop | Out-Null    }    Catch {      New-VMHostAccount -Id $groupName -GroupAccount | Out-Null    }

        $rootFolder = Get-Folder -Name ha-folder-root    Try{        $account = Get-VMHostAccount -Id $accountName -ErrorAction Stop |        Set-VMHostAccount -Password $accountPswd -Description $accountDescription -AssignGroups $groupName    }    Catch{        $account = New-VMHostAccount -Id $accountName -Password $accountPswd -Description $accountDescription -UserAccount -GrantShellAccess -AssignGroups $groupName    }

        $rootFolder = Get-Folder -Name ha-folder-root New-VIPermission -Entity $rootFolder -Principal $account -Role admin

        Disconnect-VIServer -Confirm:$false}

  • 'Disconnect' a managed host to vCenter Server: practical application?

The vSphere client offers the possibility to "unplug" a managed host to vCenter Server (right-click > disconnect).

I was wondering in what situations it would be used/useful? He influence the virtual machines running on the host? Is "reconnect" everything just like linking to the departure to a new host?

    mudage

Here is what I use the button disconnect to:

I have an old vCenter 4 install with 10 ESXi 4.0 hosts, I now build a vCenter 5.5 system and need to migrate to this vCenter but I can't have all the time.

So, I hit the button disconnect and then add the ESXi 4.0 host in my new vCenter, then at my convenience I then host 4.0 on a host 5.5 vmotion.

I hope this makes sense to you.

    Simon.

  • Welcome to chance, disconnect and reconnect itself

Seems that I came across a weird problem. Randomly throughout the day our two guests are disconnect and reconnect. The period between disconnection and reconnection are about 1 to 2 seconds in length and interfere not actually with virtual machines. I can't understand why this is happening. We run ESXi 4.1.

I have attached a few screenshots. Any help would be appreciated.

Your statement in your quick editing above, I would say that your guests are not correctly configured in DNS.

If you can only ping via IP to other machines and not using their host names FULL domain name, then you need to check that your hosts have appropriate entries and return in DNS.

  • Disconnection of frequent host to vCenter

    Hi all

I vSphere vCenter and add host (all with U1) (patched with ESXi400 - 200912001.zip cause cannot connect to the host to vCenter before apply this hotfix to the host) but host disconnect frequently. I mean, I connect to the host the vCenter and all goes well, after about 1 min, disconnection of the host and don't know why. If I connect with the vClient to the host, the vClient keep the connection with the host, so the problem is the host to vCenter. I have already increase the time-out without any change, of course, if the network is 1 g and the server do nothing... yet;).

I have not yet allowed, but still have many days of evaluating, vCenter on XP SP3 and the host is not a virtual machine.

No idea how can I solve this problem?

Use the Diagnostics wireless for you help to solve the problems of Wi-Fi on your Mac - even with a new router, the firmware may need to be updated. But this article can go a long way to point out where it is.

The potential of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth interference sources - because this is not the case with all your devices, it could be other things blocking the signal. Here are a few potential sources.

Recommended settings for the WiFi routers and access points - because your router is "-ish" make sure that the settings are correct.
