    Hello

Please answer a few questions to refine the question.

    1. have you already try to launch the program from "Administrative Tools" in the control panel?

    2. you have any third party such as registry cleaning software, CCleaner etc. ?

    3. have you recently upgraded to Windows 8?

I suggest you to start cleaning disc by right-clicking and selecting 'Run as administrator' to see if it helps.

If the problem persists, you can start the computer in safe mode and check if it works or not.

  • Disk Cleanup will not work correctly

My "clean disk" doesn't work anymore.  It was fine until a couple of weeks, and then, for some reason, he just stop 'cleaning up' and comes back with a '0' (zero) under total cleaned files.  I could not find any solution on MS looking for possible responses, so please if someone could tell me how to get it to work properly it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I have IE6 and tried everything what MS has proposed to do to update to IE8, but my kind of "old (10 years plus) computer accepts the download but gives me constantly errors when I go to run other programs I have on my computer."  The worst being "dcmigrate" (I think that's how it's spelled wrong) is a not and I don't know what "dcmigrate" is or what its related to program.  More I got other errors as well, and I send them in MS when it allows me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you all in advance for your help.

the error that you got respect is expected.

you see on the first screen that arose after that booting with the cd had two options for you.

It is 'install' and the other is for 'R' - for repair.

selection R, would launch the repair recovery console.

However, it seems that you have made with the option 'install '.

the problem with this option is that if you are in the xs version - sp of the cd does not match the version of the os - Ms on the computer, and then you get the error.

This error happens all the time, because people have the xp sp2 cd, but the computer has been updated to sp3 of xp, so the cd and the versions of the system do not match.

the only way to get around the scenario of the updated game is (1) either uninstall sp3 update via Add / Remove programs or (2) create a sp3 bootable cd, which is free and authorized by microsoft.

in any case, I hope that aid above to clarify the unexpected situation you took place.

do not hesitate to let us deliver it with your status.

Out of the blue, suddenly I can not open my Windows Mail program.  I use Windows Vista Home Premium. I get a message that might indicate that the disk is full. I've been looking at other posts and it seems to me that maybe Vista using the recovery disk. I never touched this player that I thought it was for recovery only - so, how to, it is full?

  • OS Windows vista 32 bit home edition Options more than Disk Cleanup doesn't give me any more disk space when used, y at - it update?

I need help with disk cleanup, please.

Note: If you try to free up disk space, Disk Clean-Up is not the only way to do it. Ask if you want more ways to clean up your drive diisk.

Addressing your question, the disk cleanup cannot free a lot of space if you liked - it varies the amount of temporary files are on your PC. If it doesn't increase disk space, it is not a major problem.

  • Disk utility doesn't work anymore?

El Capitan, is it me or you?

Have had Boot Camp with Windows 10 races, and now I'm trying to delete the partition created by the Boot Camp Assistant.

No matter what I do, its only possible to me formatting of partitions and do not remove them, which makes them not partitioned so that I can extend the OS X.

The old tool was easy and simply point and click on, but it throws a bunch of different home, errors when I try to make something simple, simple.

It doesn't matter, if I click on to disklevel and use the partition button. The partition is stuck. It was even possible for me to format it and install the OS on the new partition, but it... goes... not...... delete the old.

Am I the only one to go through this? Even trying diskutil with noformat %, will not work.

All you want to do with created partitions BootcampAssistant should be done with BootcampAssistant and NOT DiskUtility.

  • Disk utility doesn't work do not at all

The problem started with my iMac (10.11.6) slows down. I rebooted, it worked fine for a while, and then the problem comes back. I tried three times to use disk utility, but every time it's the same thing: the start box appears on the screen, i. by "tap" first aid, then... nothing. Nothing at all. I then tried to force out the utility disk, but for some reason any Force Quit option suddenly didn't work. Everything I had was the ball Beach and the non-functioning du box. So what's happening? Virus (I have Trend Micro, but nothing is perfect)? The age?

Uninstall Trend Micro anti-virus software. It is not necessary on a Mac and is probably causing the problems you describe with disk utility.

Third party software anti-virus is not necessary on a Mac and cannot cause problems.

    Hello

1 were you running the scan of auditor of file system as an administrator?

    2. you have any security program installed on the computer?

3 did you a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?

    Method 1:

I suggest to perform the disk check and check.

    a. click on Start
    b. type cmd in the start search box
    c. right-click on cmd.exe in the list programs and then select run as administrator. If you are prompted to provide a
Administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click continue
    d. in the command prompt window, type the following command and press enter Chkdsk/r X:

Note: in this command, X: is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume you want to check.

    a. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.
    b. close all applications and restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, repeat steps a through d for the other volume and then check if the disk cleanup works.

Important: When running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found, all available on which data may be lost

    See also:

You can also try to run the analysis of auditor of files system in administrator mode.

    Method 2:

You can also perform a full virus scan by using the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check.

I suggest you to perform an analysis of your computer online by visiting the link below:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: there is a risk of data loss if all the files are infected and which can be removed in the cleaning process.

Hope this helps and keep us posted.

  • Disk Cleanup appears randomly * solved *.

We run Windows XP on some jobs here. Whenever I use my laptop disk cleanup appears and works on both my C (OS) and D (data) readers. He appears to be an automated process that it scans the files, then disappears very quickly. I already modified the registry to disable the disk cleanup on disks with small footprint (even though none of the drives are low on space) it. This seems to have solved the problem on my Windows 7 machines. I erased all the tasks in the Task Scheduler. It tends to get a lot worse once connected to the network and even worse when it is connected through the VPN. It happens almost to the point where the computer is unusable because it keeps flashing these messages to the top and steal the focus. I used Tweak UI if at least it does not my typing away the program I use, but it still flushing and is embarrassing. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

I read somewhere that, in some cases, disk cleanup opens and begins to act as it did for me after, installs Office 2010 which turned out to be defective. We use a system of distribution of the package called Marimba which says installation failed (although the Office worked very well). I uninstalled Office using Marimba and then forced a policy update to reinstall. No disk cleanup message more. I guess they made things worse when the network/VPN because our 'packages' resident on dedicated servers and Office attempted to repair itself in the background, or the installation and has had a problem of localization of sources.

  • Cannot delete the folder windows.old with explore or disk cleanup

    Hello

I'm trying to remove my windows.old folder in my system disk and I tried following http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/How-do-I-remove-the-Windows-old-folder but Disk Cleanup doesn't show "Previous Windows installations" as an option to remove.

Explorer doesn't let me delete the files either. It keeps prompting by saying that I must have administrative permissions, even if I am logged in as a user who is a member of the Admin group! I tried to take possession of the file with no luck either.

  • Is there a way to check if my disk cleanup is working properly?

When I do a disk cleanup, it tells me something about sending errors to Microsoft? one old man was cleaning my drive... it works correctly or?

It could be useful that you have provided the error... but if all that says is that disk cleanup have closed and an error report is sent, it's too cryptic to be of no use.

You have passed the phase of ' disk cleanup is calculating how much space you will be able to release... '. "and see the list of items to remove?

If not, it can be set to the "scanning: compress old files.» It is fairly common, but it does not usually produce in an error report unless you get impatient and try to get out.  Many people simply disables the checking of files that can be compressed.  If you want to do this, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812248
