Disk - dv6 win7 backup file recovery

Hello

We have a HP Pavilion dv6-3016ax running win7 64 bit.

A few months ago, it crashed, and we saved all our files using the f11 Recovery Manager.

The BONE has been restored and I am recovering important files from disks that were created during the back upward.

In the Recovery Manager it gives only options to restore the hardware and software drivers or the operating system - no files.

I tried to restart with the dvd in the drive, but nothing happens.

I talked on the phone and online at the HP support but they tell me that I need to contact a company to restore local backup files. I have about 120gig I need to recover.

Please can someone tell me what I'm missing. Surely, there must be an option somewhere to recover these files without having to spend a lot of money for someone to retrieve them.

Why have a backup program that will let you recover the files again?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Bensaid

Browse the DVD, look for RecoveryMgr.exe or restore.exe, run it and it should restore the data to the appropriate places or empty all files stored in a folder named "system recovery" on your hard drive.

  • Search in the win7 backup files

I see that Win7 Backup allows the search for file and folder names, but says nothing about the search in the saved files.

    Is this possible?

It is a crucial issue for users of MS Win7 Backup. Please provide a response.

I used Agent Ransack with great success (except in the trash) to find the files affected by the search for key words. AR leans folder, file name and the text inside.

I'm afraid I won't be able to successfully locate a missing file/file containing the info I'm looking, in the backup files.

Go to the backup program, tell it to restore a file, and then you get a search function.

You can not search the actual compressed backup files with another utility like Ransack.  Files are grouped, compressed and indexed for efficient backup storage.  If you want to search, use search integrated in the backup program.

  • Manager backup and recovery in Windows 8

I tried to create recovery disks in the Backup and Recovery Manager.  The software would only make the first disk and then hang up.  All the other empty disks inserted appear as complete. I'm trying to burn DVD + R discs.  The backup application was updated to the latest version.

Contacted Dell technical support.  Initially, the representative did not know what Backup and Recovery Manager is or did until I showed it to him on a remote connection.  He claims that it is a Microsoft problem, even if it is the Dell software.  Representative said that since Microsoft has no burning software disk in Windows 8, the Recovery Manager will be properly burn discs. (I could do the backup on a USB key).

Microsoft contacted; they began to laugh because he comes to Dell software, but helped me to look at it any way.  After 2 hours of watching the software does not work, the rep told me to call Dell again.  He said that I need to download and reinstall the software.

Of course, software release not correctly the player after that burned the first disc and shows then all the following discs as being full.  When the second disc is inserted, it is read as not having not any space and then is ejected.

I could not complete the backup process by using a recorder external panasonic. So it seems there is nothing wrong with the software and may be a hardware problem.

  • IM always get "low disk space" and the backup file always fails and recovery D

always get low D recovery and backup disk space the files always cleaning disc fails is no help either

You are NOT supposed to file backups on ypur recovery Partition D.

Your recovery partition D is implemented by the manufacturer of your computer in the event of serious problems in your system.
You use it to restore your system.

You are NOT supposed to touch it... to not add anything in it or remove anything from him.

You call the manufacturer of the computer, tell them the situation...

    1. ask for a set of recovery DVD, if you don't have a game yourself. The game is essential to restore your computer in case where it breaks down, and you screwed up the recovery partition which is unusable for recovery.
    2. ask to talk to a technician. Ask the person how to remove backup files or elements that are NOT supposed to be there.
They, the manufacturer of computer created the recovery partition, they know how to take care of it.
Let them teach how you to.

Buy an external hard drive and use it for backups of the file *.

  • Recovery disk - I restored my files, but the drive keeps telling me that it is almost full

Recently, I backed up my files on the recovery drive. I have restored my files, but the drive keeps telling me that it is almost full. I don't know how to fix this.

Restoring a backup does not remove the backup files.  You must remove them manually, unless you want to save in case another restore of that backup is necessary.

And if you did it on your manufacturer's recovery disk, it wasn't a good idea.  This disc is for recovery only and should be used for anything else.  Find another drive to use for backups.  If this is the case, it may be best to contact the manufacturer and tell them that you were doing so they can help you to correctly resolve the situation without causing problems for disk recovery and your ability to use it as it should be used the need ever.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • I receive a "Low disk space" message and to free up space (d) car which seems full of backup files dating from when I got the laptop in 2008.

I receive a "Low disk space" message and to free up space (d) car which seems full of backup files dating from when I got the laptop. Now I also have the message 'the last backup impossible' because I don't have enough space on this drive.  He had originally 110 GB Local disk (d :)) and it fell to 7.44 MB of free space.) Can I remove the back of the 'safeguards' located in the 3 files and start on the 17/04/2008 right up to 2011-01.05 and just keep the last backup or removing the back will cause problems? Can someone help thank you.

    Hi KarenRoss56,

You can try to remove the old files of backup from 2008 to 2010 and check.

Note: When you delete these files and later if you perform a restore, you will not be able to get previous data. If you need one of these files, you can transfer the files to an external drive before you delete the system files.

You can also use Disk Cleanup to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run more quickly.

    Delete files using disk cleanup

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Dell backup and recovery file storage location

I am trying to locate where a backup of files of initial data with the help of Dell Backup and Recovery on my new Windows 7 laptop (Jan 2015), stored backup files.  I failed to provide parameters to use an external hard drive for backup.  I want to clean up backup files it does I can start using an external hard drive as storage location.  I looked everywhere, both on my laptop and Google search to find the location.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know that it is a bit a necro but since it is unanswered.

You can determine where the Dell Backup and Recovery Software stored your files by default when opening the software and start to run another backup. (Note: when you run the software again you may see the option to run another backup from the home screen.) In this case click on the drop-down menu almost invisible in the title bar (blue arrow), then select "Backup" (red arrow) in the menu.)

On the screen "Data Backup", check the "local".

'Creating data backup' screen will display a box titled "Browse...". "under the title"Where. "

At the bottom of this box, you should see the path where Dell Backup and Recovery saved your backup.

For me, the default location is "C:\users\CURRENT_USER\Documents". (CURRENT_USER is your user name).

If you navigate to this location in Windows Explorer, you should see a folder named "Profile1". Here's my Dell backup files are stored by default.

If for any reason you do not see a folder named "Profile1" I open the files in the default location and search for files with the .inp file extension. What are your backup files.

BTW, for anyone reading the FAQ is NOT DELL-Jesse L linked to you to note what the FAQ for Dell backup and recovery that is currently in use. This is the FAQ for their former Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 software which they no longer use. If you read that FAQ you can noticed the question and the answer below:

How can I move backups of the system to another location for storage?

Backup system can be moved to another storage location if you wish. Simply open Dell DataSafe and edit the backup for backups of your system profile. When you select the location, select the location where you want that all backups of the system to create. The application will automatically move all backups of your system to this new location.

I just tested this in the current version of Dell backup and restore (version 1.8.1.70), and he did NOT move my old files from backup to the new location, he created a new copy from the backup, so you should delete old copies manually.

    I hope this helps someone.

  • How to restore Win7 backup on the new system and drive Action Center repair after disk crash

I have a Dell which took a 64-bit disk crash.

I created there is not long from the center of the Action, a disk repair and backup of the C: drive on a backup USB 1 TB drive.  These two events has been made by the Windows 7 Action Center.

I have a new installation disk in the system to replace the one that crashed.

Is it as simple restore system on the new drive that boot from the ERD and then recognizes the USB disk and backup file Action Center?

My hypothesis is the combination of the ERD and backup Action Center will bring my system to date content calendar when they were created?

    Problems to watch?

If your image is on a connected USB external drive, you may need to install a drive to the external hard drive in the installation process.  So you should find a driver for it and store it on a USB key so that you can install it when asked.

Starting the system on the ERD is simple and still works.  Just press F12 at first then select the DVD drive and click Yes.

  • Why is the Windows backup file larger than the original disk?

I just used the system on Windows 7 backup utility to back up to an external hard drive (USB). I'm curious to know why the backup hard disk file is 170 GB when my computer has only 103 GB used on a 150 GB C drive. Also, should it more than 8 hours to run?

When you back up your computer using backup software and that you select the default options in the backup process that you backup not only installation Windows (C:\) but also other files you can have outside of the default installation.  Also, some files may been compressed into your windows installation may have been expanded to ensure that the intergerity backup file.
