Sys Rec - file backup #1 corrupted disk of 4 DVDs. How to restore disks 2-4 WIM files?

Windows 7 first home

With the help of McAfee Total Protection 2012

11/22/12 Win32/Tracur.AV Trojan 834

This PC and my laptop Acer crashed at the same time

BlueScreen 1033 mini dump

PC system recovery began F11 and first

did back up files using F11, four DVD

THEN

Installed Norton 360

The previous software support

Tried to RESTORE backup files

#1 DVD does not read, the other disks show WIM files and configuration of Mgr Rec file

Best Buy said that DVD # 1 corrupted.  2 4 read files from disks.

How can I access all my backup files to their previous location.

If the first disk is corrupted, then all bets are open.  We could try to use IsoBuster: http://download.cnet.com/IsoBuster/3000-2248_4-10208087.html

to see all that is corrupt.  It could be a simple file.  Hope the DVD was not a RW, they can cause this kind of thing.

  • DVD how much we need for the files backup with backup and restore program?

    Hello how are you?
DVD how much we need for the files backup with backup and restore program? Y at - it large differences in the time and space between write backups on DVD and external hard drive?

I do not understand your question.  Asked how the space has been used on your C: drive and you answered 60 GB.  Now you say your PARTITION C: is 60 GB with only 20 GB used?  I really don't understand what you're so confused.  It's simple arithmetic grade 3rd.  What is space you USED on the C: drive, that multiply by 0.7 to obtain the amount of space will be used on your backup disk after compression.  Divide this number by 4.7 and round.  That's how many DVDs you'll need if you insist on the use of DVDs for backup.  Then

    (1) If you are using 60 GB, the answer is (60 x.7) / 4.7 = 8.936.  I rounded up to 9 and added 1 just to be sure.

    (2) If you use only 20 GB, the answer is (20 x.7) / 4.7 = 2.97 rounded up to 3.  Add 1 and get 4.

If you use only 20 GB, I am very surprised, because almost any important installation of Windows 7 is going to take more than 20 GB.

All of this assumes that you do NOT use the Windows backup and restore program, but one that I recommended.  When I used the windows one, the results were several times the space that I used on my C: partition.

    Good luck.

If the files are deleted, then you will need to use any third party recovery software to recover files.

If you do not have access to windows and you used the built in backup, you will have a problem.  There is a way pretty cludgy to get home if you know where it is.  You can download Acronis true image home and convert the backup Windows a one acronis > find the file > convert a windows backup.  Not pretty but doable

  • How to restore from a backup

I was wondering how to restore files from automatic backup provided by windows vista Home premium.

Basically, I have a computer with 2 physical hard drives running windows vista Home premium.  I had backups automatic windows implemented non-system hard disk.  The system drive got accidentally erased.  I reinstalled windows vista Home premium on a new hard drive. However, I don't know how to restore the files that I had previously saved.  Could you link me to a tutorial or process step by step on how to proceed?
    Thank you

    Salvation Church,

You can restore backed up files lost, damaged, or accidentally modified versions. You can restore files individual, groups of files, or all files that you have saved.

    1. open the Center to backup and restore by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then click Backup Center and restoration.
    2. click on restore and then follow the steps.

  • System of records of documents & settings migrated to HD external backup. Is no longer on the C: drive. How to restore to the C: drive?

PC switched on and I tried to open outlook.  Received the message:
The path specified for the file G:\Documents and Settings\Ray Bush\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst is not valid.
Known as the G: drive is a disk external hard Lacie to be used for back up, although it has been used to store data of previous Windows XP/Office 2007 extracted from the HD system crashed.
When the above message has been received, the G: drive was not connected. Once it has been connected, archive.pst became available.
It seems that the Documents & Settings folder system has migrated to the external hard drive backup and is therefore no longer on the C: drive, or at least I can see it there.  Can I just drag and drop the folder Documents and Settings of the G: drive system into the c: (about 750MB)?
How to restore to the C: drive without doing something drastic is going to lose the settings and configuration?  Why what happened?  Can I prevent that from happening in the future? Is there a conflict between Lacie 500 Gb external SSD and internal Intel 520 Series 120 GB SSD SATA3?

    Hello

Win 7 and Win 8, Documents and Settings is a folder hidden, locked, unlike XP.

Documents, videos, photos and etc are now included in the C:\Users\User name, and that's where your installed programs will send them.

You can change their default location, and your software usually sends to the new location because of the way it is redirected.

I don't think anything has moved physically now that I re-read your post.

You say the keyword but... it has been imported into the new perspective.

When a program is something important, is usually not a physical copy of the file. It basically accesses its location of origin, as if the imported file is just a shortcut to the original.

Your Outlook was simply looking for the file to its actual location through the 'shortcut '.

Most all programs have an OPTIONS, PREFERENCES, or SETTINGS button somewhere.

Search through the links at the top of File, Edit, help, etc. It should be in one of these if ut doesn't have its own icon... a gear, for example.

  • Lightroom - how to restore backed up files (not the Lightroom Catalog) from one external drive to another?

How to restore backed up files (not the lightroom catalog) from one external drive to another.

I've recently saved my photo files to one external drive to another. The backup (carbon copy clone) pointed out some files corrupt on the original drive.

I deleted these files and find good copies of Time Machine backups.

I want to get rid of the original external drive; use the recent backup as my main outside and then save it to a new disc.

I'm not sure how everything is point lightroom for backups so he knows look on the new drive instead of the old drive and all points of exclamation and question marks go away.

There are close to 60 000 images in several files with a 'parent folder."

My best guess is Lightroom Help - create and manage folders - locate missing files

Can I point to the folder of one of their parents, and all of the subfolders will return?

This is the process for recovering files in lightroom and there will be a problem with so many photos?
