Search in the win7 backup files

I see that Win7 Backup allows the search for file and folder names, but says nothing about the search in the saved files.

Is this possible?

It is a crucial issue for users of MS Win7 Backup. Please provide a response.

I used Agent Ransack with great success (except in the trash) to find the files affected by the search for key words. AR leans folder, file name and the text inside.

I'm afraid I won't be able to successfully locate a missing file/file containing the info I'm looking, in the backup files.

Go to the backup program, tell it to restore a file, and then you get a search function.

You can not search the actual compressed backup files with another utility like Ransack.  Files are grouped, compressed and indexed for efficient backup storage.  If you want to search, use search integrated in the backup program.

  • Disk - dv6 win7 backup file recovery

    Hello

We have a HP Pavilion dv6-3016ax running win7 64 bit.

A few months ago, it crashed, and we saved all our files using the f11 Recovery Manager.

The BONE has been restored and I am recovering important files from disks that were created during the back upward.

In the Recovery Manager it gives only options to restore the hardware and software drivers or the operating system - no files.

I tried to restart with the dvd in the drive, but nothing happens.

I talked on the phone and online at the HP support but they tell me that I need to contact a company to restore local backup files. I have about 120gig I need to recover.

Please can someone tell me what I'm missing. Surely, there must be an option somewhere to recover these files without having to spend a lot of money for someone to retrieve them.

Why have a backup program that will let you recover the files again?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

    Bensaid

Browse the DVD, look for RecoveryMgr.exe or restore.exe, run it and it should restore the data to the appropriate places or empty all files stored in a folder named "system recovery" on your hard drive.

    Karthikeyan devalla.

    Karthikeyan Devalla,
Here are the instructions to remove some of the restore points using disk cleanup.  Your system is configured to record everything automatically on your computer at periodic points so if you need to restore your system files will be there.  But sometimes, you get more restore points that you want or need and he can eat a lot of disk space.  Here's how to control this.

You can use Disk Cleanup to remove points of restoration and the free space on the hard disk on your computer.

Disk removes the cleanup all but the last restore point on your computer. In some editions of Windows Vista, restore points can include previous versions of files. Previous versions are also deleted.

    1. open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button, tap all programs, accessories, click System Tools, and then click Disk Cleanup.

    2. in the Disk Cleanup Options dialog box, click files from all users on this computer.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. If prompted, select the drive you want to clean, and then click OK.

    4. click the other Options tab.

    5. under System Restore and shadow copies, click Clean up, and then, in the confirmation dialog box, click on delete.

    6. If you want to continue using disk cleanup for other drives on your computer, click the Disk Cleanup tab. To quit Disk Cleanup, click Cancel.

  • If I saved photo on an external hard drive, now remove the laptop backup files to free up space?

If I saved photo on an external hard drive, I can now delete backup files from the laptop for free space - my 'E' drive is full and cannot run backups more.  Also other documents that have now been removed still have backups that I need?  How will I know what backup should I keep not individually through hundreds of files?  Thank you in advance.

Original title: can anyone help please?

    Hello

You can take a safe backup.

After you create your first backup, Windows backup will add new information or changed to your subsequent backups. If you save your backups on a hard drive or network, Windows backup will create a new backup, full for you automatically if necessary. If you save your backups on CDs or DVDs and could not find an existing backup disk, or if you want to create a new backup of all the files on your computer, you can create a full backup. Here's how to create a full backup:

    1. Open backup and restore by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking the backup and restore.

    2. In the left pane, click on create new, full backup.

  • You want to search ONLY the names of files in the Explorer of Windows 7?

I want to usually just looking for a word "in a file name& record' - and can often give a date of the range. In the Explorer of Windows 7, as soon as I type the word, I get all the files that contain the word in the content, as well.  How can I have search only the file or folder name?

I also don't use 'my documents' or 'libraries '... I create my own subfolders - and usually on a stick... disc so I don't really understand "crawler" or if it is relevant to how I organize my files.

I miss the Windows XP search feature in the Explorer of Windows 7!

No need for anything that it is complicated.  Simply type what you are looking for.  If it's in the name of the file, these results will be returned first, above all results corresponding to your searchinside of the file term.  Easy.

Without indexing places such as stick readers can always be sought, but take a little more time looking for (like XP).

  • Where is the money backup files?

I use Microsoft Money Deluxe 2006 in Windows 7. The record money in Program files does not list the latest files from backup.
    Where Windows 7 is hidden?

They are stored there where money is set to store.

If the location is everywhere in the Program Files area, that they will not be saved. Program files in Windows 7 (and Vista) are a protected area.

Your Money data and the backup files should be stored in My Documents or another area that is not protected.

    Hello

The most common place where you can find hidden files is in the folder System Volume Information . This is where all the files in System Restore are stored. These should be removed, occasionally.

    1. click on Start, type Cleanmgr.exe in the area ofResearch . In the results, click on Cleanmgr.exe right-click and select run as administrator option.

    2. in the Disk Cleanup Options dialog box, select the drive where Windows 7 is installed, and then click OK (usuallyC:).

    3. click OK to analyze the C: drive.

    4. Click to select one or all the files you want to delete.

    5. click the other Options tab. In the section System Restore and shadow copies , click the Clean Up button. In the confirmation window, click Remove. This will delete all but the most recent restore Point.

    6. click on OK.

    Let us know the results.

  • The SX20 backup files and custom wallpaper

    Hello

I took a backup of one of our SX20 file and created a 'master' backup that can be used to quickly set up new systems. However, the backup files maintain no custom screen. We have a specific background we upload to all of our systems in place and I was wondering if there is a way to somehow add this in the backup file. It would be great if we could combine these two steps into one. Someone at - it experience with this?

The wallpaper must be downloaded onto the SX20, depending on the version of software, it can be done in different ways.

If running TC6.x or earlier, you can download the wallpaper with WinSCP directly to the codec using the root account or via the web interface. Take a look at ex90-custom-paper painted-pushand take note that once the wallpaper is downloaded, you will need to deselect, and then select new wallpaper to make it visible.

If running TC7.x or later, root access is deleted so WinSCP won't work, therefore, the only method is via the web interface.

  • questions of text search with the encoding of file whlang.js

I was wondering if anyone else runs into a problem where a javascript error prevents the search function in the work webhelp output. The production and research was working fine a few weeks, but has recently stopped working.

I get the following error of each browser that I can try help:
    Online: 265
    Char: 18
    Error: Constant not terminated string
    Code: 0
    URL: < path > \WebHelp\whfbody.htm

There is nothing wrong with this file, but looking into the .js files, he calls, I discovered that the whlang.js file contains a few errors. The first is that the termination (I think?) characters '; are on a separate line as the string constant:

    gaFtsStop [60] = 'over '.
    ";

The second error is point 63 article has an unknown character in it instead of an 'o', as the browser is read as gaFts Stp instead of gaFts stop.

When I corrected these errors, the search function works fine. The problem is, I don't know why RoboHelp is the production of this file with all these mistakes, and why it does now when it used to work perfectly. I can't find anything on the web or in the RoboHelp help on this, so I wonder if anyone has one) come on b) fixed and c) obtained RoboHelp to stop writing a file broken.

    Help, anyone?

    YBacon,

    Welcome to the forum.

I saw the phenomenon of online split before, and Yes, it confuses the js code that uses it.

    The original whlang.js file is
    C:\Program Adobe RoboHelp 7\RoboHTML\Help\en_US

    or, if you do FlashHelp,
    Adobe RoboHelp 7\FlashHelp SDK\Help C:\Program

First check in these files. My guess is that you will find nothing wrong.

It is the default value for 'Stop' and 'Ignore' lists in .stp and .ign updated project files when you add words or phrases under the project settings > advanced.

If the models are good, rename or delete the projectname.stp file in the project directory. HR must re-create a default version. Even if your examples are in the stop-list, maybe the projectname.ign file is involved.

  • How can I get emails from the Eudora backup files?

In preparation for a full charge of Windows, I stored all the Eudora data files (e-mails, etc.) on a removable drive. The new version (v7), Eudora does not accept them. I would switch to Thunderbird. There is no version of Eudora running on my computer now if (probably) Thunderbird can't find them. Is it possible to load the emails stored in Thunderbird?

The latest version of Eudora (Open Source Edition) was really Thunderbird with some variations and extensions. If that could not access your Eudora files, it is possible that Thunderbird is. It is possible to consider that the older versions of Eudora (who are 'real' or 'original' Eudora code) can be downloaded if you can use one of these old emails and/or perhaps export e-mails in a format as Thunderbird here. A lot of people still use these older versions of Eudora for daily email, but I would not recommend that as they are really old.
