It's a hard drive 1 TB and up to present its used 350 GB even if when I open the files on the c drive and highlight everything and go into propertys the total amount that I can see in there are about 74 GB.

its an inspiron 3847 running windows 7 pro

I have no idea what's going on so any help would be appreciated! Thank you

There are many things that can be using the space including restore points, back ups, etc.  There is a good third-party tool called Treesize (by Jam software) which will tell you what is using the space

I would also run the Cleanup Wizard disc with "system files" checked

    Hello

You don't need to try the method I suggested - just create a bootable disc or flash drive as described, to download and see if you correctly install a recovery partition.

  • My hard drive is filling up all the available space on my hard drive

Original title: my drive is 'eat' himself!

Something happens in my system which occupies all the available space on my hard drive.

I deleted everything that I possible can, but as soon as I create a space that it disappears.

There is apparently a function involving my e-mail archives or my installation "restore."

Recreate the data but do not delete the file/data who is who replaces it.  What has

happened in the past, but at that time, it was the result of my control one inadvertently

email replication function... this time I got nothing done to cause this duplication of work.

When it started to affect my system this time I looked for things to remove and found

many of my emails in the "sent" folder had been duplicated.  I immediately removed all

These duplicates and has acquired an important place but in a short period of time the

    disc had been filled again.

I ran anti-virus (McAfee) and combating malicious programs (Malwarebytes) without finding

anything that can be causing my problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Rash, the problems of computer control: use of 100% of the CPU, hard drive is filled Up, & drivers Drop Off - what happens?

My computer keep meeting the same types of problems faced by systems of many other people. My CPU goes to 100% use when I'm streaming a video. No matter if I use the Flash or HTML 5 player, the problem persists, my hard drive fills up, and now my Intel (r) 82801 PCI Bridge - 2448 driver is down, what happens?  I come on this forum and find others looking for answers to problems of the same nature. I don't know any of these people, but we are the same kind of problems. The only link I know that we have is 'Internet '. I don't know if it's a virus or some other bad online. Anyone with computer knowledge can see another link that can be the cause of these problems? It would be a good start to solve these problems. • Satellite P850 - is the speed of the STRANGE Bay as soon as disk HARD drive Bay?

    I have a Toshiba Satellite P850 - 31L

I use a "shopping cart" to install a second disk storage in the Bay of my perspective. I have an SSD and a HARD drive and I wonder who I should install in which Bay.

Are the speeds of the same berries?

    There are problems of temperature?

Any suggestions which drive should go in which Bay?

    Thank you

    Scott

At first, I have to say that it will be very interesting to know where you found this caddy and what part number there. Maybe you could post the link. I assume that you have purchased a non-Toshiba part.
    Am I right about that?

In my view, this question is not whether important because SSD is much faster in general. I assume you need disc to store data, so in my opinion, you should install SSD instead of HARD drive for faster and faster start-up for laptop computer in general. S computer portable HARD drive, you must use as the second expansion pack.

  • Copy disk HARD drive in Ultrabay speed

Anyone know why the process of copying files from the primary HARD disk to HDD Ultrabay takes almost 10 (ten) times as long as the copy from the HARD primary to a HDD external USB disk.

I'm trying to copy a system image (Ghost) of 8 GB which takes only 20 minutes outside but 2 or 3 hours for ultrabay.

I'm running a R61 and you just add a HARD drive to the Ultrabay removing the DVD burner.

    Thanks for a response.

    Fred F.

I made the correction manually through the registry editor.

    Just drilling down for

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Find the subkey for the ide primary chanel (in my case it is 0003)

    and delete the MasterIdDataChecksum entry.

Reboot will restore this line correctly and all is well.

Reset in PIO Device Manager to UDMA does not correct the above and the next boot back to PIO.

  • Pravilion dv7 series replaced after the recovery disk hard drive failure

I tried to use the portion of my drive recovery hard when my laptop Pavilion dv7-4173 US could not operate.  After trying the hard drive recovery part several times I got an error message saying that the bootmgr is missing. I tried using the recovery discs I got to the store, I bought the computer before taking it home, and they failed. They replaced the hard drive, saying: that was the problem, but do not partition. • hard drive keeps running

After cleaning the virus on my desktop pc, I installed windows xp service Pack 3. During the installation process, it was a part near the end where he cleanes, it's self. It ran for more than 4 hours but no progress what so ever. I stop and restarted the pc. Now the hard drive is constantly running. Any suggestions short of 'knuking' it and start again?

    Thanks in advance.

I found the problem (s). Not enough memory to sp3 and windows issues fixed with discscan. I'll keep sp2 until I get more memory.

    Thanks for the replies.

  • Should I initialize a New (New to this computer, but it's a backup with the DATA disk) HARD drive?

I have an internal backup drive that I used for a computer that crashed.   Hard drive that had the operating system gone wrong. I'm sure that the backup drive (no operating system, only the Acronis backup data) is ok.  I took, put it in a box of hard drive and plugged on my other computer to get all the data out of it. It is recognized in but device manager not MY computer.   Information have read so far wants choose me to go to right click on my computer, Manage, and chose the disk management.  Then he wants me to initialize the disk. The information said once the disk initialized, I should be able to access all data on the disk.  I do? I don't want to erase all data on the disk. I prefer to take it to a PRO for $100 if there is even a small chance I could damage or erase the data on the disc. Please notify.

Do not initialize the disk.  That would erase all data.  It is possible that the hard disk enclosure does not work right, causing Vista to see the player correctly as not initialized.

Did you create Acronis Secure Zone on the drive for backups?  If so, you will need to use the same program from Acronis to access. It would be interesting to boot from the Acronis recovery disc and see if it can read backups. Boulder computer Maven

  • Vs C than C drive D drive keeps filling

I ran out of storage space and deleted some things to give me more space. My computer says I have 2.10 GB free of 58.5 for drive C and 376 GB free 397 GB FIR drive D. When I download stuff, how can I get downloads to go on drive D rather than simply keep cluttering up the C drive? I did not understand that the D drive is part of my internal hard drive until I talked to a technician at Staples. My computer is only 3 years old and I just thought 58.5 GB of hard drive storage doesn't seem right.

Make sure that the D drive is not the recovery partition put there by the manufacturer of the computer. If it is, use IT for something else.

Any browser that you use, go to tools/options and you can change the download location here.

  • External hard drive keeps restarting by itself!

    Hello

I have an iomega RPHD - U 250 GB hard drive plugged into my pc and I keep it this way because I need to work on organizing my files. However, it keeps restarting itself as a minute after that I opened the case, whenever I plug in my charger (has something to do with the charger?) or at random times. It's really annoying and I have no idea why this is happening. How can I solve this problem and how to avoid that this happens in the future?

Ah.  Well that seems to me something of the chain is a failure.  The drive itself, the cable, connector, it is plugged into USB port or something on the motherboard.  I start to exchange of components or entrust it to another computer and see if it happens there.

If not, try another drive on the computer of 'problem' and see if it works.

Both of these can narrow down what is causing the problem. But you can also try a clean boot of the computer too. See How to perform a boot in Windows, allowing to tell if it's a software problem on the computer that is really the cause.
