Display a splash screen during startup of an application.

Hello

I have an application that runs in the background and is set to auto-start on this basis:

http://www.BlackBerry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800451/800660/How_To _...

My question is... is it possible to display a splash screen when the application is launched the first time at the start of Blackberry?

Sorry if this is an easy question, but I did no UI yet on the BB using Java.

I would just have some tips or examples of code to start.

Thank you!

H'm interesting...

Mark is right, that you have to extend UiApplication.  If you're stuck with having your icon in the list of task switch, and this means that someone can select it.  So you're going to need to have a screen that shows something innocuous.  I guess you may to override the onExposed() method to immediately push the application in the background, but it is not very friendly.  I would say something like an about screen.  This screen have to do anything, except to allow the user to push down (i.e. UiApplication.getUiApplication.requestBackground ()).

Before you start looking at your other questions, I think that we have to solve this problem.  I think that you need to create a screen associated with your application.  I do this, I have just the requestBackground of the screen as part of the constructor display you only if you click Task switch icon.

In fact, you might actually use in your start up.  Instead of pushing the dialog box, you could push this screen, then instead of "OK", the user could just ESC on this screen, or you might have a button above, or just made the request in the background.

"This is my first BB app, so I'm a bit confused about all these things of thread/AC of background".  This isn't the kind of app that I recommend for a first timer.  You did well to get so far!

  • Satellite P10: clouds white and purple fading across the screen during startup

    I had problems with my laptop PC-10 so I bought a new hard drive (Fujitsu 60 GB instead of 40 GB) standard and have it myself. I was working very well with it for a long time, until suddenly I have had the strangest problem that I've ever seen on a computer...

    Sometimes, when you start the laptop, instead of the screen normal red "TOSHIBA" and the message to start Windows XP, the laptop displays simply little weird white and purple clouds fading across the screen, fading finally on a screen very dark, but not quite black.

    I thought first it was a problem with the DVD player, like when he finally gave and started normally, the DVD drive has been disabled. However, I noticed in the BIOS, under "Advanced" the Infrared Port shows intermittently - it shows with the [Disabled] setting next to him, but will be then disappear from the list, then reappear again and then go again and so on.

    Sometimes my computer will function normally, then completely shut (mouse and all) and will restart with the clouds!

    I looked in the Windows Event Viewer for when the laptop has locked up and have seen anything to do with a problem with IRQS for the Infrared Port. I disabled the infrared port in Device Manager (I managed to activate in the BIOS by loading the standard BIOS settings) and rebooted, but it started upward with the clouds once again, so I have the feeling that the infrared port is the culprit - loose connection may be defective material because it is located close to the DVD player and HD player.

    I was wondering if anyone has seen something like this before on any computer, and if they knew how to solve? It seems completely illogical that a defective IR port could change what is displayed on the screen on startup, unless of course there is something wrong with my HD boot sector?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Tom

    Hello

    I've never seen like this problem before and I don't think that this issue has something to do with the HARD drive or the IrDA port.
    As much as I know the IrDA port is not available on Satellite P10 - xxx

    For me, this looks like a faulty screen or graphics card.
    Have you tried to connect the external display? If this isn't the case, then try to do and check if it also appears on the external display.

    I recommend also to recover the laptop with Toshiba Recovery CD and then check the functionality.
    But if the malfunction appears so I would recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP for control from laptop

  • What is this screen during startup?

    I bought a Mac Pro to anyone. He had top Cougar. I had these problems and then upgraded to El Capitan and still have them. The back USB ports 'freeze' sometimes. This means that the mouse is connected and you can see that light is thus then it becomes 'power' but won't move the mouse and the keyboard type. So, I have to restart hard. Also when wifi is on and I turn it off the computer freezes as well. And once again I have to hard reboot. During startup, I sometimes get this screen. The loading bar stops at halfway. I posted a picture of OSX 10.11.2; 2 x 3 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon; 16 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB - DIMM thanks for any help!

    A check of the machine as you experienced is usually due to a hardware problem.

  • Black screen during startup

    I have a HP m9520f I bought a month ago. From time to time, it gives me a black screen when booting. The computer is on, but nothing happens. When I unplug the power cord and plug usually once again, it starts fine the next time. I tried solutions suggested by pressing F8 during startup. But nothing is going on (it started normally without any problem).

    The clues and suggestions are appreciated.

    Could be an intermittent hardware failure, try to open the housing, cleaning (using canned air) all, remove and reinstall the RAM and check the connections are secure. However, first, check the screen. Is the cable correctly connected at both ends, and the power cable is safe? You could test if it's not for lack of a monitor, if you have a keyboard with a sleep button, to set market and that, if the screen goes black, wait at least 10 minutes until it would have normally received at the logon screen. Then, press the sleep button and see if she falls asleep. Also watch the disk activity; If there is a lot that the operating system is probably start normally.

  • How to display the splash screen and background

    Hello

    I have an application that gets images from a server and displays them. what I want to do is to display a loading screen while the images are download and go to another screen when the download is complete. is this possible?

    Thank you

    Dieye

    Yes, it is possible.  You can use a PopupScreen to do this.  Please take a look at the JavaDocs for dialogue, status and PopupScreen for examples of classes, that you can use to display a "please wait" type of screen.

    Once you download is finished, you can close the screen and push the other onto the stack.

    Please note the following if you try to manipulate your download lead active USER interface.

  • T450s startup takes 35 seconds before displaying the splash screen. (wake up 11sec)

    The following are my problems:

    1. when starting the machine, it takes about 35 seconds before the first activity screen (screen of Lenovo). After that, it starts normal.
    2. when waking off mode 'sleep', it takes 11 seconds before I see directed power stop to 'breathe' and wake up the screen.

    It feels like it is a hardware/bios on the issue, as (so far I know) hdd/ssd is accessible only after the bios has loaded and completed its audits of material. When you paste into a bootable usb it starts only flicker after the bios was loaded on the screen.

    Question:
    Anyone have an idea why my laptop waiting so long to start or wake? I don't mind wait a bit, but in 35 seconds + startup time normal is really boring. Especially with the fact that the laptop shows no sign of life for 35 seconds after ignition briefly the backlight on the keyboard. Alarm delay is also very annoying since even my 7 year old laptop BSOD to wake up faster, and I use a lot "sleep" mode.

    Some origins I think about:
    -Verification of the material during the initial start-up of equipment does not yet recognize a dedicated GPU card. (POST: Power On Self Test)
    -I don't think it's a problem with my software because the problems occurs before any media playback.

    I already tried things:
    -Reset the bios.
    -Start in legacy mode.
    -Update the bios
    -rebuild MBR (although I think that's the problem.)
    (- Refreshing installation of windows, even if I do not expect that's the problem.)

    This problem was already at the beginning (with origenal material):
    From the first time I started the laptop (with HARD drive), I noticed that it took a long time to start. I remember repeatedly pressing the button ON / OFF and think I did something wrong, when all of a sudden the 'Lenovo' screen appears.

    I hope someone can help me!

    My problems were solved!

    An engineer contacted me that they received a mainboard replacement and they wanted to make an appointment. I gave them the address where I worked the next day because I'm very mobile, and an engineer came by the next day. It appeared to be a qualified IBM engineer and test my machine and came to the same conclusion as me. He then did some tests to see if the problem was caused by something else, then the motherboard but eventually replace my motherboard with good care.

    After the replacement of the startup time and wake up was normal as it should be. I'm very happy with the service that Lenovo ThinkPad gave me.

    I have to add that when I called for the support that I got someone on the line who couldn't really understand me, neighter, Dutch or English. But it was also duo a bad connection, it seemed to me... But after that call I really didn't expect that it would come to a good end. I then really suppriced isn't 5 days later a Dutch engineer Chief called me for an appointment.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones obtaining personal information to display on the screen during "Standby".

    I just got a new Blackberry Curve 8900 in Exchange for one who broke up with the trackball fault mentioned here a couple of weeks.

    They couldn't fix it in the allocated time so they sent me a new.  It's very nice, but the software has changed a bit - although I have restored all my settings and data from the backup I did on the Desktop Manager.

    What I find with this new, is that when you put it to SLEEP (using the button at the top left) personal information that I programmed in the phone IE name, address and home phone number and mobile number, does not appear on the screen as it on the old phone.  All I get is a blank black screen.

    Hours of searching has doomed to failure to find any sort of swtiching 'on' and I can conclude that maybe in this newer version of the same model, they have stopped making this display.

    The Version of this new phone is.

  • C4H46AV: Error on blue screen during startup

    My laptop HP recently received an updated windows 10. After the update when the laptop went to a reboot it throwed me a blue screen. The link below:

    I restarted the laptop and you press ESC to llogin in the START MENU to the TOP and then you press F9 to go into the OPTIONS of BOOT DEVICE:

    Regardless of what I select, I am unable to pass through the screen below.

    I ran the DIAGNOSTIC Test and everything is good.

    Finally, the problem solved. That's what I did step by step.

    1. as mentioned by WAWood created a bootable USB key to win 10.

    2 tried to start the laptop via the USB port but without success. Tried several options but could never get the blue screen.

    3. finally tried Ctrl + F11 + F8 and suddenly saw a black screen with a disappeared within 2 seconds, then the laptop started to boot from USB

    4 Laura me opt and selected for reinstalling Win10 but then got the error message when trying to install Win 10 where he solicited the installation location. Was getting the error message: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is not GPT partition style.

    5. press the buttin back a couple of times and has reached the first screen where it asks if I want to reinstall Win10 or repair.

    6. then pressed Sift + F10 and got a promt back.

    7 entered the following commands:

    DiskPart
    list disk

    clean

    8. once the above commands is pressed again the Win10 install tab and finally installed Win 10.

    I would add that I lost all my data but happy that my laptop is in place and now I am free of all the software that came bundled with HP because of the clean command I executed.

    Finally a happy ending.

  • Computer does not turn on the screens during startup, they remain turned off

    When my computer starts windows 7, my 2 attached screens, which work perfectly well, not to get turned on.

    Thecomputer starts normally, only the screens remain unused.

    I can connect to my account and [alt] + [F4] to turn it off again.

    The only thing I could imagine being responsible for this is the last card grafics driver I just updated. It's a GeForce GTX670.

  • Windows hangs at the splash screen (Windows startup screen), but works after restart

    I encountered this problem recently. On my Dell XPS M1530, when I turn on the laptop after a few hours, windows gets stuck at the start-up screen. I restart it once, and once again, it gets stuck on the start screen. But when I restart twice, windows starts successfully.

    When I turned off the computer and launch until it is physically hot, then windows starts successfully. But when I start the computer after his East become physically cold to room temperature, again the problem starts. I've never seen this kind of problem never or don't want to believe that windows or equipment can be affected by temperatures. It's almost as if windows starts up when the laptop is pretty hot.

    Anyone any idea what the problem is?

    Hello

    As you experience the same in Safe Mode, it may be the case of a faulty hardware or a damaged system file. However, we can run a Microsoft Fix itfirst to troubleshoot your Windows system performance and restart your device after execution of this. If the problem persists, we can also try the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. After execution of the auditor of the files System tool you will see the result, if there is a file system damaged the cause of the problem.

    If there is no corrupted files, it is indeed a defective hardware, and we ask you to contact your manufacturer to resolve the problem suggests. Please see this link for manufacturer support website for your.

    Note: you must enter correctly on your desktop to run the Microsoft it Fix tool and auditor of the files System tool.

  • Open a Popup screen on startup of the Application

    I know this is probably an easy thing to do but I'm new on this and the command I use to open a pop-up window in the menu doesn't seem to work when I try to use it to open a when the application starts.  I put this command in several places in the screen method and the method of opening with no luck.  Is someone can you please tell me what I need to do

    UiApplication.getUiApplication () .pushScreen (new LicenseAgreementPopup());

    I finally I want to add a way to accept or reject the license agreement but will just simply get the popup to display when my application starts :-)

    Thank you

    Thanks, the key is the word "after" I put the order right after my main application screen has been pushed and it worked.  I knew it was something easy

    {
    String lv_continue;

    Public Shared Sub main (String [] args)
    {
    IdApp MapBack = new MapBack();

    }

    public MapBack()
    {
