Display failure DVI to HDMI

Recently, I bought a DVI to HDMI connector for use of my graphics card than Geforce 550 TI in my twenty six inch brand TV Toshiba (not aware of the name of the template). I also met dvi to dvi my monitor, which works very well. For a while, I was able to use both at the same time or separately. Quite recently, however, during the execution of the two, I accidentally put my TV as my main instead of my sixteen inches HP w1907 screen, causing some kind of accident. Now whenever I plug the second TV, both black and my audio temporarily stops then continues. It still seems to take at least my microphone input, judging by the fact that Skype call, in that I was still worked and still make sound, but two monitors just turn completely black and will not display anything. Help, please.

In addition, the TV still works all by using a VGA to TV with a VGA to DVI, simultaneously and individually, and he works as my main monitor without crashing.

Hello

When your computer does not display anything on the screen, you have a problem no display or blank display. This may be caused by one of the following reasons:

· Monitor or system has no power

· The monitor is defective

· Connecting the cable loose VGA(Video Graphics Adalptor) /DVI(Digital Visual Interface)

· Video card problem

· Problem connector AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) /PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) EI / motherboard

· Problem of RAM (Random Access Memory)

    Hello

On my XPS8500, I can't the DVI or HDMI output ports correctly although VGA works OK:

I use a LG 22 '' monitor with my Dell Vostro 200 with a card that had output DVI and it works well, but on the XPS8500 it gives no signal, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Dell driver and removed hardware from the Device Manager, when I do that I find to restart the GT620 outputs the res 1650 x 1050 native until Win7 completely installs the driver and requires a reboot , upon restart, no signal is output. This happens on DVI and HDMI.

While in this without signal condition VGA does not export until I have remove the HDMI or DVI monitor cable if something is turn off VGA at this time.

Cranking up connected via a cable DVI or HDMI, there is no the Dell BIOS screen or the start of Win7 is... new VGA screen is fine.

Is just crappy GT620 or am I missing the point!

Well, I have an update for everyone with this kind of problem - my monitor is a LG 22LS4R, which is a monitor with TV tuner built in and after some research, it appears that some monitors (especially the monitor with TV tuner) report the correct EDID information (the info that the PC Gets the monitor to the determin the correct resolution is used etc.)

I tried my XPS8500 / GT620 on my Sony 2008 32 '' LCD TV with HDMI and TV perfectly displayed at 1980x1080P, so I know that my graphics card is ok, it seems that my LG 22 '' monitor is not so happy with my new PC!

Further reading shows tweaks people came up with to work around the problems of this kind, I tried, but couldn't make it work so I can either replace my new Board GT620 to my old ATI 2600XT (which does not work on my monitor) or to use VGA cable which works ok'ish or get a new monitor (hmm wife my not be too happy with the freshest!)

So, I think that this problem is toward the low for older monitors with eccentric HDMI and my nVidia GT620 capabilities do not cooperate with it.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium does not start and an external monitor connected via DVI to HDMI Cable

I have a Dell Inspiron 531 desktop computer with a NVIDEA GeForce 8400 GS video card.  This video card has the following outputs: DVI, VGA and S-video.  When I connect it to my computer via the VGA port to PC to my Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR4 monitor port, the machine starts perfectly.  If I connect via a HDMI cable to one of the HDMI monitor DVI ports, the screen displays the video BIOS, but turns black when the operating system begins to load.  If I connect another monitor to the VGA port, yet once the machine boots fine, but if I connect the monitor to the computer and the Sony Bravia, once again the machine does not start.  The strange thing is that if I boot with only the connected computer screen and then plug the DVI to HDMI cable, then Windows 7 sees the Sony Bravia monitor very well, and I can extend the desktop.  If the machine mode 'sleep', both monitors work very well to wake up the PC.  So, if the Sony Bravia is connected alone or with the computer screen, the machine does not start (the screen will display 'go black' when the OS starts to load.)  I tried to run Windows in Mode safe, but he won't either.  I have all the updates of Windows applied and have installed the latest drivers from nVidea so.

    Hey Chris,

First of all, about climbing, is not a technical support; This is a community forum where MS moderator and contributors are involved.  Now to your question ~

It's very strange that the PC does not start when this unit is connected, but works fine when connected after the fact.  I've seen several cases where a hardware configuration of uinsusal will prevent a PC to boot.  I think that the culprit may be DVI to HDMI Cable that you are using.  If I were you, I try to connect the PC to a DVI monitor and see if it boots normally.  Also, see if the monitor can prevent another PC to start when it is connected directly via the HDMI.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

  • U2412M connections PC - DVI and hdmi-TV signal?

    Hello!

I connect the hdmi-TV signal to my Dell U2412M monitor. This monitor I've used with Desktop PC (DVI cable). I want to have both, PC and TV signal on the same monitor. Is this possible? How to do this? Display port? Cable HDMI to DisplayPort? What sound? (My graphics card has DVI and HDMI output). Here are the specs of the Dell U2412M:

NOTE from the ADMIN: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell >

    This is the situation:

    ----------Tv-signal (hdmi)-------------------->--------------------| DisplayPort?

    fenekus

The monitor has no audio output capabilities. He can only power the Dell Soundbar attached. But the Dell Soundbar connects to peripheral output TV audio port to get a sound.

In theory, you would connect the HDMI cable unit TV HDMI port to the DP U2412M DP in the output port. Turn on both devices, press the Menu button, choose the input Source, choose Display Port.

  • best way-p7 - 1380t dvi to hdmi to a HP w2207h monitor connections

Have 2 computer - current connecting using DVI/VGA DVI outputs. You want to connect DVI to HDMI. Are there advantages? and, the best way to do it?

    GDicker, welcome to the forum.

Here is an explanation of these two connection types:

    DVI to HDMI

DVI is a digital signal in the same format as the video portion of HDMI. The difference is that DVI does not carry the audio signal like HDMI. This means that if you use only the video signal, you can use a simple adapter DVI to HDMI plug that changes the physical connections. If you want to switch from a DVI with audio source, you will need a converter active to combine the video of the DVI source signal and audio in the HDMI signal.

As you can see, DVI is a digital video signal and HDMII is a video and audio connection digital.  Simply using an adapter DVI to HDMI will only give you the digital video.  Therefore, the advantage of the DVI to HDMI will give you a digital signal.  VGA is an analog connection.

Thanks for asking this question to Microsoft Community.

I will definitely help you to set up the projector, but before starting, I would ask you some troubleshooting questions.

What version of the Windows operating system is installed on the computer? Do you get any error messages? Have you done a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?

  • B276HUL supports full-resolution Windows 7 on DVI or HDMI?

B276HUL supports full resolution (2560 x 1440) of Windows 7 on DVI or HDMI?

I tried to connect it to my laptop on Windows 7 (video: Nvidia GeForce GT 540 M, all drivers have been updated) but without success (I just DVI 1920 x 1600)

Can you tell us what I have to do to get this working on Windows 7 and full resolution?

    Thank you

    Hi Rob

The B276HUL indeed stand up to 2560 x 1440 resolution. Maybe it's that your laptop only supports up to 1920 x 1600.

    Hello

Your machine has 2 DVD-D a port and a VGA port:

    • (Provided by the processor) AMD Radeon HD 7310 integrated graphics card
  • Vs vs DVI VGA HDMI

I have a new computer and monitor and eventually hopes to use the monitor for television, but not now.

Currently, the computer is used for editing photography mainly.  Is it better Setup for the vs of monitor VGA vs DVI HDMI for image quality?

Thank you very much, Paul Herd

    Hi paulherd,

The answer is simple: it depends

DVI and HDMI are similar image wise, but HDMI carries audio also with her and DVI is not working. VGA is generally lower image quality than DVI and HDMI, but it can still be pretty good according to the graphics card to your PC. If your graphics card is capable of serving high-definition resolution, then VGA is superb. All really, it depends on what you want to do with it and what your PC can do.

Here is an interesting article that talk about some of the differences that can be useful too, I found:

I hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

  • U2415 Display Port DVI adapter - no Signal

Hi - I have a new U2415 that I'm not getting a signal on when I plug it into my office with a Display Port to DVI.  This is an active adapter that I bought on Amazon.  I have the adapter plugged into the port Display Port, then the cable DVI to my PC.  When I try to "detect" to the monitor displays under Windows 7 64 bit I don't see it in there.  I have 3 other monitors connected to my PC using a videocard ATI Port Quad (ALL DVI) and I know that all ports operate as I went around.

When I plug the monitor in my book of Mack using the Display port cable accompanying the monitor works fine.  I also know the works of DVI cable very well as I tried it on another monitor.

I also tried a CDM/DVI with another card and it does not work.

I also downloaded the software Dell Display Manager but it gives an error saying: he needs a Dell monitor supported.

Any ideas on why the Display port/DVI does not work?  Can someone suggest any other ideas.  I like to keep my current quad DVI video card port as they are costly to change.

    Thank you very much

  • Problems of range with DVI to HDMI Windows 7 64 bit

I have a problem that becomes really annoying due to the fact after searching the Internet for two days, I found many people with the problem, but no solution.

    Here's what I have:
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    NVIDIA 450 graphics card
    Westinghouse 26 "L2610NW
I used this system for about 6 months with a dvi connector vga for monitor without any problem whatsoever. A month ago I bought a blueray player so I could watch DVD blueray on my HDTV. Finally got the software that I needed to show the blueray discs and when I loaded one up the program told me I need pass port dvi or hdmi to my graphics card I monitor to view these movies protected against copying.
I got out my dvi to hdmi cord supplied with the monitor and who has worked on an old system of Vista of mine and plugged. When I rebooted my system the only thing I get on my monitor is an error output. I know what means an error output, and I don't understand why windows trying to push my monitor beyond what it is set to go.
I have my video card and windows set to operate at 60 Hz, which is pretty much my only option other than 59 hz. I tried both and always out of the error no matter what.
I have the latest Nvidia drivers for my video card and called Westinghouse and they claim that it is a problem with Windows.
What gives? I spent a lot of money to watch the bluerays on my PC, and while my system seems to work great, I really need to solve this problem. At this point, I'm willing to sell the thing whole dang and start over with pieces of work verified even if they are smaller than what I'm running now.

I ended up buying a new monitor and now everything is working properly, and so I have to assume that the problem was in the monitor and probably not windows itself.

The monitor I bought had no cable so I use cables I used on the old monitor and everything works fine. I can even watch commercial blurays on this system now.
  • P2415Q - no display on DVI, HDMI. No menu. Worked perfectly for a month on the display port

Line of reason: Dell P2415Q. After a month, works perfectly on the display port, no display on screen Display Port or HDMI, no response to the menu buttons, backlight and power ON but no picture on the screen.

    Description of the problem

The monitor worked out of the box for a month using the mini display port display port cable supplied with the monitor, which was plugged into my XFX 7970 and 7950 graphics cards. It supports 4K at 60 Hz and has been exceptional for photos, videos and games. Wednesday, the monitor no longer works, no picture or menu is displayed on the monitor. I plugged my old monitor to help diagnose via DVI graphics card even. When I press the power button on the Dell P2415Q monitor, the power LED lights up and the computer detects the monitor (as shown in the menu of the windows screen resolution). He defines as a secondary display but the screen remains black, I see the light power and backlight is turned on. No power save mode popup doesn't appear on the monitor, when I press the buttons of the menu there is no response from the screen, it stays black. I repeated with an HDMI cable, the same problem occurs without intervention or image. I repeated and disabled crossfire (which allows graphics cards to run independently) and tried the second graphics card without response. I tried the HDMI cable I used on my old LG monitor, it works well. I tried to connect a laptop on HDMI to the monitor too, no response from the monitor. I've exhausted all the tests I can think, I guess I'll have to return to the screen for repair or replacement under warranty. A question to the community - and dell rep is there anything else I can try / to make this work?

    Monitoring of service tag:
Computer: Non-Dell, build self about 2 years ago. Ivy Bridge i5, motherboard Gigabyte Sniper, 16 GB RAM, XFX 7970 GPU and XFGX 7950 GPU crossfire, 256 GB SSD, Corsair AX 860W (860W on independent 12V rails) supply power. Windows 7, 64-bit. (D2342 LG secondary monitor).
Operating system: Windows 7, 64 bit.
Graphics card: XFX 7950 XFX in Crossfire and 7970 (tested separately, product monitor fault at a time).
Video card driver: 14.12 AMD driver Catalyst (restored to the old driver, always due to lack of product monitor).
Video card output ports: tested with miniDP and HDMI on both cards, with crossfire enabled and disabled. Monitor product always loopholes.
Cable video card: miniDP to DP cable supplied with the monitor. HDMI, tested with spare monitor to confirm it works correctly.
Monitor Menu button: Inadmissible, what power is enabled on the computer detects the Dell P2415Q monitor, the backlight lights up but no image appears on the screen. By pressing the menu buttons produces no result - menu does not appear on the screen. Power LED is lit.
Monitor purchase: purchased from Overclockers.co.uk March 2015.

    * Turn off the monitor
    * Disconnect all cables from the screen, including the power cable
    * Press the power monitor in pendant button 15 seconds
    * Reconnect monitor cables, then repeat the test. If still no go, your only option is to get exchanged by buying warranty

  • Dell Nvidia Quadro 600 reference - adapter provided by Dell dongle (display port > DVI) is missing entries

A puzzle - DP > DVI adapter dongle supplied with my refurb Precision T3500 is absent from the entries on the side of DVI. [Both the bag of dongle and the dongle have labels with "DP/N 023NVR" and "CN-023NVR-48570-22M-039X-A00"]

The card is Nvidia Quadro 600 Dell w / 1 DVI port and 1 DP.

I want to go to DP to VGA *... so I need a second adapter grafted on the dongle from Dell.

Missing entries are above and below the long horizontal (spade) of entry. All my DVI > VGA adapters have 2 tiny over the shovel and 2 pins below.

The DVI port on the card fits those 4 pins.

    The dongle does not work.

Can I just use the hot pin (heat a PIN and create holes) approach... or DVI use these 4 connections?

If the latter, why NOT the adapter address these connections?

    __________

    * Yes, I keep autour monitors until they die - a strategy to continue to pay the mortgage

If you have Display Port, then you can get a Display port to VGA.

But they tend to be expensive sometimes more expensive than another monitor that is DVI or VGA vs HDMI
