And it is not clear that, even when the "new list" is over, it can be used as a "mass mailing" vehicle like the subgroup could in OE. Can someone tell me, please, if and how I can compile a subgroup within the address list of TB in the same way that I have described for OE? (And I can deal with just like a 'name' to send e-mails to all members of the subgroup, as described above?)

  As you describe with OE, use the name of the mailing list replaces the addresses it represents. You can of course just select from your address book as any regular Contact entry.

  A significant limitation of the mailing list of Thunderbird, it is that it must be created in an address book with the Contacts he made reference. In other words, if you generate a list in the PAB, it must contain only the Contacts appearing in the personal address book. If you create an entry in a mailing list that is not in his address book parent, a new minimum Contact entry will be automatically created in this address book parent.   The space is not evident.

  The most common and probable cause is you copy paste the email address.
  This can very easily copy paste an empty space and empty spaces do not appear as an easily detected error. But this is the only scenario that I found which produces the question you had - incorrect address Contact framed by double quotes around part first - pre @ but the blue link is good.

  It does not occur if you have an e-mail address is sent to you in an e-mail and you use the left click on the email address and select "add to address book".

  I just reinstalled Windows 7 Pro (I had to) and I managed to reinstall Thunderbird, then point it to my existing profile as my email now displays correctly.

  The problem is that my address book seems to be empty now. I checked and my abook.mab and history.mab files are located and have content (13.1 K and 16.8 K respectively) have been dated to shortly before the reinstall. When I bring my address book, however, it seems empty.

  Is there something more I should do to get my address book will display correctly?

  There is a possibility that you have more than one profile. Look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_how-to-find-your-profile and then look in the same directory to see if there is another * file *.default.

  If so, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles to switch to another profile, and search for your address book. If you find, export using the LDIF format and then switch your main profile and import addresses.
  NOTE: no matter what name you give the exported address file becomes the name of the address book when you import it!

  Still no joy? Watch abook.mab with Notepad; It is a text file. Browse down to see if you have your address book entries.

  I don't think that the bug is affected by the name of the address book, or whether or not it is the CAP.

  I tried to write a procedure to http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/importing-csv-files.html some time ago here. but the thing is if you change the columns in the CSV file in a spreadsheet, first match that Thunderbird expected (both in name and order), then you don't need to play with this terrible UI that aligns with the name of the field name of the field.

  It is in this dialogue if you have the family name next to the e-mail address of the family name is considered to be the email address.
