Distortion of the Lens Correction Documentation?

I saw in some discussions that LR corrects the distortion of the lens for a few drinks and a few cameras.  I have not been able to find documentation that indicates what cameras and lenses are taken in charge for this - for LR2.3 or 3.0beta.  This documentation is available somewhere?

Thank you!

    What software do you use?

A lot of packages, as DPP allows to correct the distortion of the lens - some have corrections for different lenses built in.

According to Ken Rockwell, your goal is the following distortion:

18 mm: Strong barrel distortion. Corrected better with + 5.0, but still a bit wavy.

24 mm: Distortion of Canon. Fix with 2.2.

28 mm: Very slight barrel distortion. Fix with + 0.5.

    35 mm: No deformation.

55 mm: Pad negligible distortion. leave him alone, or use-0.2.

As you can see, it is best to shoot on 35mm if you want without distortion.

Otherwise, a new lens is in order.

  • Ideas to explain why, when you work with raw files in LR 2015 with Edit in PS 2015 and use the Camera Raw filter, the profile in the Lens Correction Panel tab is missing

Ideas to explain why, when you work with raw files in LR 2015 with Edit in PS 2015 and use the Camera Raw filter, the profile in the Lens Correction Panel tab is missing? Mac OS X 10.10.5.  I reinstalled the OS and Lightroom and PS, nothing helps.

    Hi ParadigmRose,

This is expected as profile tab behavior does not appear under Lens Correction Panel if you go to Camera Raw Filter in Photoshop

However, profile tab would be there if you open a raw image directly in camera raw first.

You can go to the filter menu > Lens correction in Photoshop, if you want to search for profiles with edit in Photoshop.

  • I have to use the lens correction in lightroom 5 if I activated behind closed doors?

Do I have to use the lens correction in Lightroom 5 develop module there I activated behind closed doors? (Canon 5 3)

Your camera (if on) lens correction in JPEG format, will not apply for RAW files. Clearly, you don't want to apply twice.

  • Can LR5 automatically apply the lens correction profiles to import?

Rather manually using correction lenses profiles to images each time to correct an image and then synchronize with the rest, I would like LR 5 to automatically apply the correction of the objective appropriate (whether by EXIF info or "default" profile) when importer by the camera (map).  Does anyone know a way to do this?

    Hello

Simply create the adjustments you want to apply to the set of pictures / images, i.e. the lens corrections and save them as a preset in the develop module and then apply the preset upon import. The import module allows you to select a developing 'settings' preset using the Panel applies when importing.

  • How to keep the lens corrections when sending images on Photoshop?

I have a group of architectural photos taken in RAW format with a 10-20mm lens that I applied lens corrections in Lightroom 3.  When I open them in Photoshop using the bridge, lens corrections vanish.  I had the same problem using the mode of batch processing of Photomatix Pro to create HDR images.  If I select the trio of film images in Lightroom, right click on them and then export them in Photomatix, corrections of the purpose of stay, but if I close Lightroom and use the batch processing of Photomatix Pro mode to select and process the images, then corrections vanish.  Any ideas?

The lens correction is a function of acr and LR communicates these parameters with PS CS5 and above.  If you are on CS4, to keep, LR should make before you send it.

The same reason that you can't do batch processing of Photomatix, they don't understand LR treatment without current ACR, which is only compatible with LR3 and PS5 (and assumed, above).  So when you export from LR, LR is the treatment for you before you send it... so, you keep your changes.

Even if you have CS4 or lower, LR would render to you.

    Which makes sense for you?

    See you soon!

  • Feature from default, Auto & choice custom in the lens correction Panel?

Can someone explain how to use the choices in the lens correction Panel when you select the profile and then enable lens corrections?  The three choices are by default, auto & custom.  It seems that if you choose automatic, she should do something but I do not see anything else.  I created 5 profile of lenses for my Pasnasonic DMC-FZ-50 to 5 different focal and these appear in the Panel and are functional.  I looked in the help section and does not know what mean these choices, or how to use it. Thank you

Auto pick the target based on the ID of lens saved in the file when you took the shot, not the focal length, Aperture, etc.. If it cannot find a lens that fits this lens ID, it will not capture anything, even if you saved manually a default purpose. As I wrote above, you can do everything by default of the goal, but Auto use a perfect match for the lens.

  • Wrong camera in the lens correction module?

I have a stupid question (maybe).  I use a Canon 7 d, and I noticed when I 'activate the profile correction' he gets the right lens (24-105L) but in the profile box, he chooses a 1Ds Mk III & 24-105L.

Corrections auto search ok, but is it normal?  I could have sworn I had seen the 7 d in this area before, so I wonder what's happening?  Maybe I imagined that.  Don't know.  Could I have deleted by mistake?

    Any help?

Yes... the camera model is purely informational and does not impact the performance of the profile. What is important is the profile of the real purpose and ensuring that the goal is in place.

  • Is there a way to manually opening of entry and/or the focal length of the lens corrections profile?

This feature would be very useful for those moments when we shoot with manual glass or use adapters manual or really all cases where metadata is missing or damaged. It is to the correct lens distortions at a specific focal length in the case of the zooms. And manually impute the aperture value would determine how much vignetting correction and chromatic aberration correction is required.

    Thank you!

This facility is not as much as I know sorry.

  • Applied to the images corrected lens corrections

I was just looking through some images, and I realized that I managed to apply the corrections lenses for the exported jpeg and tiff files. Here are the pictures that I exported raw to TIFF to jpg in Photoshop and what I think happened is that I have not noticed lens Corrections were applied when I re-imported the tiff back in Lightroom. Of course, the correction of the lens has been applied when I developed the raw and tiff in Photoshop (or JPEG when I exported through Lightroom), so a second correction just distorts the image.

I think I can find a way to solve this problem, but y at - it a mechanism in Lightroom that you don't shoot yourself in the foot in this way?

I have dealt with, leaving the lens corrections turned off in my LR treatment ' default ' . And that won't happen (potential double-extra charge) whenever I have to chance to import a TIFF in LR / JPG that is already on the disc.

But I named develop preset that (among other things), apply lens corrections . This preset is invoked as part of the import, within a predefined named import that is always used when the original camera files in the computer.

If corrections occur automatically in all areas, but only once for each image.

I disable the corrections of the lens inside the camera body for JPG and have set up an extra adjustment of LR profile, kludged against each lens - which corrects the JPG in the same way, the standard profile to correct Raw.
