No option to save the file, type of content/file missing in the list of Applications
I want to be able to click on a link to a file and have the option to open the file with a specified application.
When you click on the file I want to open with a specified application, I get a save or cancel the option.
When I look in Preferences > Applications, the file type is missing from the list.It worked. It no longer works. It is not a problem with the Web site. I need to know where in FF settings I can change that.

What types of files you want to download?
Have you checked how servers send the files? You can rename (or delete) the file mimeTypes.rdf in the profile folder of Firefox to reset all the actions file.

Word and Excel are installed and are working on the new computer from my parents. They have the word 'old' and the files whose file extensions are not associated with Word or Excel is excellent. If they open Word (or Excel), they can then open these old files successfully. On the other hand, if they double-click on the file, the popup shows the type of file is not associated with an application. When asked to choose an application to associate, the list does not include Word or Excel.
The same is true when you use the programs Start/Default/associate a file type or Protocol with a program. Word and Excel are not shown as applications installed on this computer.
I did an uninstall and reinstall, and the old word files and excellent files are still not associated. I was then able to associate using the types of programs/associate of start/default etc.. So I think I'm good to go. This occurs naturally, and it was a big pain. Not what you want to experience, unfortunately, visitors.

Some file types are not not in the settings of Applications
OS: Windows XP SP3
Firefox 4.0 & Pale Moon 4.0.5I have a problem when I download files from the executable (.exe) type. Previously, I checked the sign while Firefox will automatically download the file via the Download Manager. Unfortunately, some sites do not allow download with it. But when I want to change the setting, I can't find the type of executable files in the application settings. So, how I normally redownload? Help, please!
I think that you need should be in settings of the add-on - we.
Firefox tools > Options > Applications is for downloads that are in need of an application to open. The executables are designed to run directly on the operating system rather than be opened by another application. In addition, executable files are generally sent from the server with a generic binary file header, so Firefox will not be able to match up to the top with a particular file type.

Title: download original ROM files on Vista
Try to download an update of the firmware with a file extension ROM Vista says it's an unrecognized file type. Patches?
You must get the update of the firmware that can handle the type of file the same place ROMA, you got the firmware file. From what I see, they seem specific to the product updated. http://www.FileInfo.com/extension/ROM if they don't have it, talk to their technical support staff and ask them what type of program is required to install the firmware provided in ROM format and where you can get it. Vista doesn't have the ability to read a file ROM type Some software must be added to give this capability.
Here is an article I read: "various hardware upgrades and emulators use the ROM file extension." A user needs a flash program usually available on the website of the manufacturer of the motherboard. The user must not flashing BIOS unless the user knows that he has the image of his mother. An error or the computer may be turned off when the wrong BIOS image is flashed. "So be very careful here, or you can completely disable your system.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

How can I change the file type extension?
Help please!
I was working in Paint.net and thought that my changes have been saved but I incorrectly saved in Paint.net it as 'nom.1' and making it inaccessible to paint.net or any program being the type of file 'file '. I then changed the name of "long.bmp", and who seemed like he did to be accessible but Paint.net is still not open it. On another file that I made the same mistake on, I changed the name to "name2.pdn" that worked and I am able to open it properly. I tried to change the name on the premiere of "name.pdn" in Windows Explorer, but for this file, it only changes the name "name.pdn" and not the extension. It's always a ".bmp" file How can I change to a file real '.pdn '?
Thanks for the help

I changed a file type to Notepad Windows Shell common Dll, how do I get it back?
I was downloading XVM mod for world of tanks, I changed accadentaly file wot - xvm - proxy.exe.config to Notepad Windows Shell common Dll, I think he also changed "shell32.dll" because when I was troubleshooting for this problem, there are available in Notepad. Any help would be apreachiated.
If there is a way that I could find the Windows Shell common Dll in the list of programs that would make it easy since I could just click with the right button on properties and select the Windows Shell common Dll.
See the following tutorial.

"Adobe Acrobat Reader DC cannot open 'amy application' because it's a non supported file type or because the file is damaged."
I received this message during indexing on my computer. I could not get the message, so I
uninstalled Adobe.
After you have uninstalled Abobe, I was able to get all my jobs and applications (with the exception of adobe files).
Then I tried to re - install Adobe, but who has turned to a complicated procedure.
There are so many choices, and there are a number of downloadable updates. What was I guess what to do? But I have chosen one of the Adobes and tried to install it.
After that I don't know what happened. All my desktop icons are now Adobe icons in place. that is The Firefox icon is now replaced by an icon of Adobe. It is the same for several other desktop program icons. (QuickTime, chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.)
When I try to open the program by clicking on it, I get the above message.
I went to the site of help from Adobe and read a complex string of instructions, including
words like '% pdf', "DWROD" and, for me, other nonsensical words and phrases.
Needless to say that the instructions were no help.
I said all that to say this. I want that my computer back. What should I do to do?
Sincerely,
Ralph Thompson

According to my question in the title above... Tab file types... Why is it (NO) next to audio CD, disc, DVD, and a little more such elements as the folder of file, folder and to allocate to the Protocol.
Reason why I ask this is I just do a fresh install of Windows XP with SP2 and I installed SP3 after that on an old computer that was in need of a new facility. I continued to get the AutoPlay window I went to the CD and DVD players and set everything to TAKE NO ACTION. I wonder if I made a mistake by doing this. I was half way tempted to do the same for drive C, but I did not. Is there something I can do to correct what I do that I should not have?
Also, I noticed that my computer is really slow now and it was not before.
How can I find other positions that have posted here on Microsoft Answers?
Thank you
Gary
The [NONE] you're referring to means that there are has file extensions associated with things such as Audio CDs, disks and DVDs.
A "file extension" is the 3-(4-parfois) part of a file name that comes after the period character. For example, in "Document.doc" file extension is doc.
Made settings were - as you noted correctly - in the AutoPlay dialog box. These settings determine what Windows does when a removable storage device is connected. Depending on the type of multimedia content detected on the device, you can choose from a variety of "Manipulative Autoplay" to deal with this content.
"Take no action" is not a bad default.
If you want to change your mind, open my computer and right-click on the icon for a CD/DVD/USB device and select the tab "Autoplay". You can choose from a variety of types of "content" and then choose which application should open. For more flexibility, TweakUI--> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/windows-xp or see
http://WindowsXP.MVPs.org/AutoPlay.htm
http://WindowsXP.MVPs.org/addautoplay.htm
http://WindowsXP.MVPs.org/autoplayhandlers.htm-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, I noticed that my computer is really slow now and it was not before.
A number of things could happen here.
Have you installed all necessary drivers after you reinstalled Windows?
Have you installed an antivirus application before connecting to the Internet?
Have you applied all post-sp3 Windows critical updates before you begin to surf the Internet?
Did you uninstall the trial versions of software antivirus which have been replaced (unless your new Windows installation was a "clean install")?

How to identify the real dll and exe files on my computer
How does determine a real/registered dll and exe on my windows xp files from those that should not be on my computer. I used the norton power Eraser and it identified suspicious files but I don't know which of them is genuine and should not be deleted? !!
Hi rookley,.
You have everything installed security software on your computer?
You can check the location of the file from Dll files. Files that are saved in the System 32 files system and focus on the programs installed on your computer.
For the file types that end with .exe extension are executable files.
If you have the threat from the virus on the computer, you can run virus scan and check online if no malware or viruses detected on the computer activity. You can run the scan for viruses online from the link below: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm
With norton power Eraser, Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.
