Do I have to renew my Windows Live OneCare?

I want to confirm the window Live OneCare will work with Windos 7, as it is still valid for 6 months.

As far as I know, Windows OneCare is not compatible with Windows 7.

It seems that since I refused the offer of renewal of Windows Live OneCare security - which costs $50.00 per year - but is FREE via my ISP no longer, I can access Internet Explorer or is applications such as my printer, sounds etc... I called the mfg and they want $100.00! Seems that the warranty is sold out, as well!  Is there someone who can help free of charge until I get MORE money for MS?  I contacted my ISP & everything works well on their end, it's a problem of network management - they showed me how to run in safe mode to fix this problem.  Hope it works & thank you for the help!

  • Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner says I don't have Windows Vista and cannot run scan which in fact, I installed Vista.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium installed on my laptop and Internet Explorer stops constantly.  I went to Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner to perform a scan of my system, and it tells me that the scan does not work because I don't have Windows Vista or Windows 7.  I'm confused.

  • Try to defragment (Vista/Windows Live OneCare)... No way to track progress?

Please forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong place...

I get messages in Windows Live OneCare, which is supposed to manage my 'tune up' monthly including defragment my hard drive, saying that "Defrag has only partially completed due to high levels of fragmentation."  My computer is really slow and so I try to do a full defrag - but the window Disk Defragmenter has just said that there "defragmentation, which can last a few minutes or a few hours.  Is it possible to track its progress?  It is the first version of windows I've used that did not have a kind of screen with boxes inside as well as the Defragmenter, indicating what has been done.  For more than a few hours Defragmenter that happened and always says the same thing.  I've done a few times, and I can't tell if it's just hang up or if it's even the defragmentation.  usually after that about 8 to 12 hours, I start to swear, abandon and simply cancel it.

Please help - I'm about to hire a ninja out of my computer...  Thank you!!!

    Little.

I can't understand why people want an old defrag process. I want to use my computers, not watch the blocks move around the screen. With XP and earlier versions, defragmentation was not a dynamic process which took place without user intervention. You need to stop using the machine or program it so that it occurs in the middle of the night, because any interruption, even something as simple as a kick, screen saver required process to start over. Some machines would never get defragmented due to other processes constantly interfere.

Subsequently, the machine will start to become more and more fragmented, until the user remembers to start the process.

With Vista, it's a continuous process of low priority that does not interfere with your use of the machine. Simply, it is done without having to do a thing. And it is ongoing, the machine must never get heavily fragmented.

As I mentioned earlier, if you - or anyone - really wants to watch the blocks to move, there are a lot of software vendors that will allow you to give them your money if you can. • Black screen after account open a session and problems in Windows Live OneCare

    Hello

I've read other similar questions but I am writing a separate thread because my situation is slightly different. My apologies for the long post, but I'm desperate.

Computer information: Dell inspiron 1525 laptop. 32-bit Windows Vista Help

My current problem is the following:

I have three user accounts. When I start the computer using the Normal two of them, including the administrator, can connect to but a black screen with only the cursor appears just after. The third account, a "guest" account is not affected and works perfectly.

When I start the computer in Mode without failure or Safe Mode with networking, both messed up accounts can connect to and no black screen, Windows works apparently fine. However, this third guest account cannot connect. This error message: "Windows cannot connect to the service of the sense. Please contact your system administrator. »

I ran MalwareBytes all three user accounts. The Admin account has 2 infected files.

    Infected registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\ {1d4db7d2-6ec9-47a3-bd87-1e41684e07bb} (Adware.MyWebSearch)-> quarantined and deleted successfully.

    Infected registry data items:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\regfile\shell\open\command\ (Default) (Broken.OpenCommand)-> Bad: ("regedit.exe" "%1") good: (regedit.exe "%1")-> quarantined and deleted successfully.

^ This is the current problem that began Monday night. Here is what happened this afternoon before the problem.

    1. Tried to use iTunes but it suddenly refused to open. I read that iTunes does not open if my firewall is not up-to-date or there are security problems.
    2. I tried to look at Windows Live OneCare, but which does not either. Said that there is a problem. I can't scan anything.
    3. Windows Defender does not light and I can't update the definitions.
    4. I rebooted the laptop several times, did not help.
    5. The hub for OneCare computer works fine.
    6. I did a system restore to a date a week or two before.
    7. Downloaded MalwareBytes and ran scan.
    8. Forums suggested the fix Prevx. I followed these instructions, but as I tried to run with the black screen up on my Admin account, it would freeze just so that the computer checked.
    9. Repair the system says it's clean.
    10. I changed my settings so that Windows does not updated Automatic due to problems of the past. I currently can't update anything because the laptop freezes after clicking on the icon.

    Thanks for any help.

I have 2 PC which have made in the last 7 days, last update Microsoft OneCare was killied accounts Admin,.

To fix, you need to uninstall Onecare through the tool of uninstalling the program.

    Heres how

    (1) start the computer Safe Mode (press f8 just before the first window of the screen with the time bar) and log on to the Admin account

    (2) execute MSCONFIG as editable (type search box of the start menu, right click and run as administrator)

    (3) select Diagnostic startup and click ok, then restart

    (4) log on as administrator, and then start /panneau Panel programs and features select Windows Live OneCare in the list and uninstall. This may fail with an error (it did on both the PC I corrected.)

    (5) run MSCONFIG as administrator again select normal startup, OK and restart and it solved the problem

    (6) install the new Microsoft Security Essentials that OneCare will anyway

  • Time protection real HELP in MSE stopped working after running the utility in Windows Live OneCare cleanup tool?

Protection in real time in MSE stopped working after running the utility in Windows Live OneCare cleanup tool? Error Code: 0x800705b4

    Hello Wally,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

The question error codes and the description that you get suggests that you are facing problem when using MSE. This problem may occur if other security software, such as antivirus, antispyware and antimalware programs, are totally or partially installed on the computer.

I suggest to change firewall security settings or disable temporary security on the system software and try using MSE and see if it makes a difference. How to temporarily disable security software, you can view the article mentioned below.

    Disable the antivirus

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attack.

For more details, please see the article mentioned below and see that it helps you to fix the problem.

Yes. And it's also an older program that Microsoft has dropped,
So it is not a good idea to run it. Not at all.

New Microsoft security product is called Microsoft Security
Essentials. If you want a Microsoft security product, run that. Do not
run another anti-virus program if you run that. You ask about others
Internet security software programs, but please specify exactly what that
    you ask about the programs.

  • Uninstall Windows Live OneCare

I installed Security Essentials and when I try to uninstall Windows Live OneCare by using the cleaning program, I get the message that this can only be done by the administrator.  I am logged in as administrator.

I am also unable to uninstall McAfee SecurityCenter.

    Hello

Follow the steps provided by Waseemulla Shariff in http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/how-do-i-uninstall-windows-live-onecare/bf78dae1-037e-4426-83e8-fcef4ca8b115 to uninstall Live OneCare on your computer.

To uninstall Mcafee Security Center, use the http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe Mcafee product removal tool and complete uninstallation.

For reference: go through http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101331 to learn how to use the Mcafee product removal tool on the computer.

Important note: do not use more than one program antivirus on your computer, as they may conflict with each other and cause no start situation.
