Do I have to use Windows 7 Upgrade or full version upgrade from Windows XP
Original title: XP, Windows 7 Upgrade.
I am running Windows XP - Home edition - on a Dell laptop. I want to load Windows 7, because it is required for new software, I have acquired. I realize the literature that I have to do a clean install. My question is if I can use a download called "Windows 7 Professional 32/64 bit Upgade" or must use the full version of "Windows 7 Professional", at three times the price
Hello
Before purchasing Windows 7, follow these steps:
Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.
If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.
Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.

When you use the brush in the development module and I have a lot less brushes to create an image, the program hangs up to what I sometimes have to use windows to complete the task. I have ICC Intel i7 3.4 and 16 GB of RAM to operate Windows 7. Why hang up LR
Doing a lot of brushing up on an image using Lightroom is known to have this problem. The first thing to try is to turn off the graphics acceleration (go to Preferences/Performance tab and then uncheck the box here). IF this does not help, then you can consider doing your brush in Photoshop Elements or Photoshop, instead of brushing in Lightroom.

Windows Explorer stops working after that I have to use Windows Update
Currently, using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit service pack 1. After that I restarted the computer to finish the update/install Windows I can't use the functions from the Start button. Any attempt also runs programs through the Task Manager is met even uselessness. I gives me the error that Windows Explorer has stopped working and restarts. However, all program shortcuts that I have on the desktop can be used.
The only way to solve the problem for me is to use the system restore to take me to a previous time when I didn't have the problem. However if I try to update by using windows update I experience the problem again.
Im trying to download update is Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and the .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x 64
Finally, I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong forum, I don't know where to go. If posting in the wrong forum, I would appreciate a link to the right pair.

Hi Josh, I had the same problem with Windows Explorer on a HP Vista Home Edition 64-bit computer, it would keep restart loop and stops also all the programs in the taskbar.
I searched different forums and I tried different options, but nothing worked until someone said it might be a virus. I have Norton but it does not detect anything, so I tried Defender of Windows (that I had turned off because I had Norton) of Windows Defender found this startup program called mwau.exe to rest under C:\recycler\(random numbers...) but when I open the C: drive, I couldn't find anything manually, but there is no option to delete or disable it through Windows Defender.
Then I Googled that name and found a software called free Antivirus "Malwarebytes anti-malware 1.41 ' recommended by CNET download.com, it's a small program, but I downloaded and ran, it found and removed this mwau.exe, I have not had problems with Windows Explorer after that, apparently mwau.exe means (I think) auto update for Microsoft Windows.» But after its removal, I have more problems. My updates of Windows runs as usual and I get new updates as usual, but this muau.exe was probably evil viruses do.
Here is the download free link http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
In addition, when you click on download the exe file name is mbam-setupGood luck. See you soon.

ESET node 32 or windows defender or microsoft security essentials. ???
Hello
To add to the good advice of Malkeleah:
Here's what I use and recommend:
Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with everything I threw at them.
Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven very reliable and compatible.Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except away from Standard, Web and network is working.
Prevx - Home - free
Windows Firewall
Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)
Protected IE - mode
IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)
I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(Sometimes you have to temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom right of IE)Avast - stop home - free - all shields you do no need except leave Standard, Web and network running.
(Double-click the blue icon - details look OK. - upper left Shields - those that you do not cancel).
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.htmlOr use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast
Prevx - Home - small, fast, exceptional CLOUD free protection, working with other security programs. It comes
a scan only, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something to come back here or use Google to see how to remove.
http://www.prevx.com/ <-->-->
http://info.prevx.com/downloadcsi.asp <-->-->PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.aspAlso get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever suspect malware, and that would be unusual with
Avast and Prevx running except a low occasional (not much), updated cookie and then run it as
a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.I hope this helps.

I went to tools, Options, attachments and there are associated programs that should be able to open files - Windows Live Photo gallery for the Microsoft Excel for excel files and JPG files. I actually download and save the files and then open them. Is there any solution for this?
Go back and delete associations and start again by opening one of these files. Thunderbird will recreate the Scriptures based on your choices and they will then probably work.

I tried various things - the ease of importing is not perceived as being good help - I copied the folder of favorites on but he is not seen
Help appreciated.
Roger
It depends on the version of Firefox you have on Windows 98, the latest version which took place officially on Windows 98 was Firefox 2. In Firefox 2 favorites are stored in a file called bookmarks.html in the profile folder. The normal location to find the profile folder in Windows 98 is inside this folder - C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
The name of the profile folder is normally a string of random characters followed by .default, if you open this folder, you should find the file bookmarks.html. You can import this file into your current computer by following the procedure described in this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Importing+Bookmarks+from+an+HTML+File
If you had Firefox 3 on Windows 98, the Favorites are stored in a file called places.sqlite. If you have this file, you can copy it from your old profile folder and place it in your profile folder on the Windows XP computer to replace one that is already there. For more information on how to find the Windows XP profile folder, see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

Impossible to use windows anytime upgrade to windows 7 Home Basic
Hello
I bought a retail version of Windows 7 Home Basic, but when I tried to upgrade using anytime upgrade I could not. This option was not available. When I tried to update using a disc of Windows 7 Home Premium, I got a message that I have to use Windows Anytime Upgrade.
Thank youHi voodoo2010,
Temporarily disable any security software and that you try to upgrade, follow the steps mentioned belowhttp://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
Note: Allow all security software after you perform the troubleshooting steps. If you have a copy of Windows 7 Home Edition premium simply use the product as an anytime upgrade key. No disc required if you do it this way. You can use the button once for this upgrade as well.A similar issue has been discussed here. Disabling security software before performing whenever he helps me to upgrade.
http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7install/thread/c2870704-558d-41c9-9069-db6115c14788Now in the rare event that your Windows Anytime Upgrade does not go through smoothly, here's what troubleshooting steps you can try:
1 restart the computer for all pending operations, as appropriate.2 see the following log files. journal entries can give you an idea why the WAU failed.-%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Windows at any time Upgrade\upgrade.log-%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Windows at any time Upgrade\upgrade_dism.log-%SystemRoot%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log file-%SystemRoot%\Logs\CBS\CBS.persist.log fileI suggest you run chkdsk/r. It locates bad sectors and recovers readable information. / r includes the functionality of / f, with the additional analysis of physical disk errors.
Windows 7 includes a tool called CHKDSK disk that is similar to the "scandisk" in older versions of Windows to audit tool. This application scans your hard drives for errors such as the lost areas, bad sectors, and corruption.
You can run CHKDSK using two methods (the first being the easiest):
Graphic Interface method:
Open the computer option in the start menu, which allows to display all the available drives to scan on your PC:
Then, right click on the drive you want to check for errors, and then select Properties :
Now click on the menu Tools , then check now in the error checking section:
You have several options within the check disk tool. It is always recommended to you leave the box "automatically fix file system errors" ticked, as this repair and problems encountered. If you want a deeper analysis, check "search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors". This second option takes more time, but you have to do if you suspect a disk problem. Once you are set up, click Start :
If you try to check a disk that is currently in use, you will receive a message asking if you want to schedule a scan. Accepting this detection is the next time you reboot your PC:The command prompt method:
Alternatively, you can use the command prompt to perform analysis on a drive letter of your choice by running "chkdsk x:" where x is the letter of your drive. Manual scan options are:
- /F fixes errors on the disk.
- /V FAT/FAT32: displays the full path and name of every file on the disk. On NTFS: Displays the eventual cleanup messages.
- /R Locates bad sectors and recovers readable information (implies / f).
- L:size NTFS only: changes the size of the log file for the number specified in kilobytes. If the size is not specified, displays the current size.
- /X force the volume to unmount it first if necessary. All open handles to the volume would then be invalid (implies / f).
- /I NTFS only: performs a less vigorous check of index entries.
- /C NTFS only: skips checking of cycles within the folder structure.
- /B NTFS only: Re-evaluates bad clusters on the volume (implies / r)
"CHKDSK x: /F /R" could perform a full scan (including bad sectors) and an attempt to remedy.
Warning of CHKDSKImportant: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost
All information about chkdsk, see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc730714%28WS.10%29.aspx

I am a user of windows vista and you want to use windows xp, then I have to do?
I am a user under windows vista license so can I use Windows xp?
If so, how?
If not what do I have to use windows xp?You must have a copy of Windows XP, which is no longer made or sold. If you can find one, you can buy it.
Then you have to reformat your computer and install it instead of vista, ensuring that your computer is capable of running, and the manufacturer of the computer has all the necessary drivers. -
I have been using Windows XP for a while. I am always connected in Windows Explorer through the icon 'Butterfly '. Never interested in Internet Explorer - too cluttered screen. I have several files in Windows Explorer and virtually none in Internet Explorer 8. How can I find the Favorites file
Windows Explorer so I can import them from a new laptop with Windows 7? There, not too many people who understand what I'm saying
Tommy,
You've done a good job answering my question. Somehow, and I don't know how I did it I accidentally erased all the favourites I had accumulated for quite some time. I have not found these missing Favorites in the trash that is where I would have expected to have. But that's another story and not a good thing. I have so appreciated your efforts and I hope at some point I can get these favorites - wherever they are now.
Sincerely,
ECK Wolf
