Do you need , I highly recommend that you do nothave.
This is very dangerous.

Registry cleaning programs are all snake oil. Cleaning of the
registration is not necessary and is dangerous. Let alone register and
do not use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
What software record cleaning suppliers are trying to convince you,
have unused registry entries is not really make you hurt.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner by mistake
delete an entry you need is much greater than any potential benefit
It can have.

Let me stress that neither me nor anyone else who warns the
use of registry cleaners never said that they always cause
problems. If they have always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

The problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the risk of a significant problem. And since there is no
benefits of using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
good deal.

    DEFRAG
You should be able to defragment the drive of the computer from the Windows XP operating system. It is not something that Firefox will do for you.

A method in XP if I remember correctly, is to find the drive icon, and then right-click to get a Properties dialog. A tab or option is tools, which will have a defrag & /or analyse the option. It will also be possible to do so in the options in the control panel.

Each week, I run chkdsk, disk cleanup and defrag but ' end defrag I was wondering should I defragment it even though it says "You don't need to defragment this volume" I remember that someone said to defragment your volume once a week or once a month. I'm so confused: / what should be my routine? defrag every week or once a month? Help please ~

Contrary to what said Divya R I would run a week Disk Defragmenter although you see "you don't need to defragment this volume." The report is based on a statistical analysis and figures produced in this way on a global scale can often be misleading. You can manipulate the numbers to present the result you want to see.

An obvious defect, is that the analysis is almost certainly done on all files. However, the files that you always have access to are only a small proportion of the whole. You want to be able to access the files that you are using the large archive of that rarely used files.

Supplied with Windows XP Disk Defragmenter is a utility written more than 10 years that you might want to try Defraggler which is freeware and a more flexible tool. I used it successfully for 2/3 years before I migrated from Windows XP to Windows 7.

  • I said I need to defragment my computer... How can I do this?

My computer is running REALLY slow. How do I defragment?

    Hello wildweed56,

Before you defragment your hard drive, remember to check that your hard drive is in good health.
(You can do this by using CHKDSK. Try this for more information on CHKDSK http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265)
    Also, close all running programs.
Make sure that the power come to your PC only goes off during the defragmentation process.

To defragment your hard disk, follow this easy steps.

    1. go to start > all programs > Accessories > SystemTools > Disk Defragmenter

    2. in the Disk Defragmenter window, you can select the HD Partitions of your choice for the job. (Defrag).

    Thank you and best regards.

  • Defragment

Years, I used to defragment a hard disk to condense the data so there is not a lot of 'holes' where were the deleted files. The story was that these holes were left after a deletion because new files are too large to fit. So the HD got rid of the holes and gave more space used by the files together green onions. Do we still need to do? Is this a good idea even if it is 'useless' to do? And... How would you do it? A disk utility any? I run El Capitan version 10.11.5 on an iMac i5 running old 4Yr.

    Thank you very much, JIM

Post edited by: jrhockin - it should have read "when the files were too LARGE to fit in holes, not a"SMALL"

No need to defragment, OS X handles low-level disk maintenance automatically. Utility of third parties who claim to optimize or accelerate a Mac will usually do the opposite.

  • Defraging disk does not work

whenever I have try to defragment my laptop restarts, I don't need to defrag because my system is slow

    Hello

It is very interesting question, but in my view the correct answer to your question, you should look on the Microsoft page because it is a typical problem of operating system. If I found a few explanations, I'll let you know.

Please check if the laptop restarts always in the same position (22%). In this case, it is possible that a sector on the HARD disk may be damaged or corrupted.

  • SYSTEM drive defragment not

Defrag tool shows all my discs, including a SYSTEM drive that she needs to defragment. However it won't let me not defragment the SYSTEM disk. I click on "Analyze" and it shows 14% fragmented. I click on "Optimize" and the screen flashes and nothing happens. All other disks défragmentent normally, including automatically and manually. This problem occurred under Windows 7 (which was originally on the machine when I bought it) and now Windows 8. I have a HP 580 t and I am system administrator.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hello

The system partition should not be défragmentée - it contains the boot files and recovery for Windows 7 environment and appear always need to defrag so analyzed.  It is also important to note that this "apparent framentation" has absolutely no effect on the performance of your PC.

    Kind regards

    Hi Tina,

Welcome to the Community Forum of HP.

HP_Tools is a partition that contains "work programmes" used for the diagnosis of the system.

The partition should be left alone: do not add or remove files from HP_Tools.  is the partition, and it should take care of itself.

You don't need to defragment the partition; HP_Tools is not a part of the operating system that has no impact on the speed or slow your computer works during the day-to-day operations the day.

The following document explains the HP_Tools partition and what to do if you have accidentally added files on the partition.

HP Notebook PC - error: not enough disk space. You run lack of disk space on HP_Tools (Windows 7)

Reserve system is at 17% fragnented... Can I defragment?

    Hello

What version of the operating system you are using on the computer?

You can leave the box reserved only system. System reserved partition contains startup files and is not used when Windows starts.  There is no need to Defrag. It will not degrade the performance of your system. Disk Manager does not allow you to delete this partition because they remove this partition could force the system to no boot. System reserve partition can also mean where the operating system is installed on. It may be the C: drive as well.

  • Defragmentation and how soon to defragment again?

Once you do a defrag, how much time will you need to do again my computer seems like it needs quite often. I also checked as the next day and noticed something on the files that cannot be moved. He looked like a fragment in blue is green instead of Red is it possible? When I was running the defrag as I watched the process that he looked like he was green fragment from time to time in blue.

"Integrated" defragmentation utility on Windows XP is an earlier version of Diskkeeper from Executive Software. (They now go by the name Conclusiv Technologies).

I find that running a full defrag every week on a hard drive (NOT a solid state 'disc') activity is almost indispensable.  Less busy PCs can benefit from defragmentation less often.  Make sure there of sufficient disk space free for the Defragmenter to run until the end, at least 15% of the total disk space need to be free and available.

If you buy a full copy of Diskkeeper there a defrag at startup option, when it can access all the files on your hard drive without the need to remove all critical existing files.  Note however that this is a fairly aggressive defrag it takes so always make sure that you have a complete backup of all your files and that you have the original OS disks all repair/reinstall becomes necessary (is usually not necessary but can happen).

In the version I use, the option 'Set a defragmentation of startup' is in the section "change the settings your»  Later/earlier version may have moved it elsewhere, but it should be available for each hard drive.  I recommend that it is necessary for a hard disk to the Windows directory and so the boot drive.  Without starting another drive can be fully defragmented at any time.

Remember that defragment only re - sorts stored data and tries to gather the fragments of files as a contiguous whole.  But he does not seek on page files, the registry files, etc.

The main cause of the need to defragment is how NTFS decides how and where to store data objects and exposes an element of "Lese do" on how he handles these.  A contiguous file is faster to read than a fragmented because it is a lot less disk head "stolen" when you try to find all the data elements that form a single file.

  • I would like to know if defrag already include the service chkdsk or not?

I would like to know if defrag already include the service chkdsk

so I only need to defragment the HARD disk to run chkdsk and Defrag, or

I need chkdsk, firstly and then later defragment?

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

    original title: Question about defragging?

The Windows defragmentation program does not any function of chkdsk.

However, that being said, defrag performs some basic checks of mental health that it moves the files on your disk and if she notices that something is wrong, he will give up and ask to run chkdsk.  CHKDSK with the option/r (repair) can take hours to complete depending on the size of the disk and the amount of corruption, is running before Windows starts completely and can no longer be interrupted... so it is usually performed only when you suspect problems with the disk.

So if you suspect hard disk problems, then run chkdsk during the night and defragment the next day.  Otherwise, take your chances that your disc is good and just go ahead and perform a defragmentation only, falling back to chkdsk if the defragmentation program is abandoned.
