    Greetings,

    Please read this.

You can wait patiently (updates will appear later) or there is a problem in the article.

You need to reinstall Windows for the fix. Your PC must be isolated from the network when reinstalling windows. You need to download both updates and install before connecting your PC to the network.

I used the fix of Ed Bott and it works. But I reinstalled Win 7 again. I wasn't going to wait for hours and hours to get the security updates.

You can try to install these updates on the problematic installation of Win 7:

    1. apply the Microsoft patch found here. Disconnect from the network.

    2. install the two updates in offline mode and cross your fingers.

    3. repeat on Windows Update.

    See you soon!

So I ran the hardware test and everything was fine.  I tried to do a system restore... but it is come to the same, exact screen stating that «Startup Repair cannot...» ». I tried to run in safe mode and exactly the same result.

If the worst happens, follow these steps below for data recovery before reinstallling:

    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

Download the Vista software from the link above.

After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

    See you soon.

  • Windows 7 does not load after Windows update

my computer has tried to do a windows update a few days ago and now it will not load windows. All I get is a black screen with a cursor.  I am able to access safe mode. I did a system restore, which did not work. Antivirus software can't find anything alarming. I checked the ram and the hard drive and nothing was found. Start diagnostic work and I tried to make the windows update again, but he could not give me the codes following three (1) 80246005 80246008 (2) and (3) 641.

    Hello

The error codes you mentioned, suggests that you are facing because of the updates of Windows. Here are two articles that will help you solve the problem.

If you receive the Windows Update 80246005 error when checking for updates, it means generally that you cannot save the files to the Catroot2 folder or that the Cryptographic Service has not been started or is not working properly. Follow the steps below to correct these

  • Problem with the WIndows Update page

I am running Windows XP with Service pack 3. Microsoft Security essentials is the security system. When trying to run Windows Update using Internet Explorer 8, at the point of the page is to check that if my system is the correct update software, the page fails, finally displaying the message "Internet Explorer has stopped to try to restore this Web site. It seems that the Web site continues to be a problem. "This is repeated each time I have repeat the initial attempt, or click 'Back to the microsoft.com site' on the error page. Is the problem with the Microsoft web page (the address is www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx ) or on my computer?

When I try to run Windows Update... to the point that the page is to check If my system is correct, update software the page can't...  Is the problem with the web page of Microsoft ( www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx ) or on my computer?

You are correct George: whenever you access the site Windows or Microsoft Update, Windows Update will take care of updating itself. that is, it looks for updates available from the Windows Update Agent or the customer allows you to update your system.

    Since June 21, 2012 a WUA new version 7. 6. 7600. 256 aired by WU to automatically update itself its version now aged 7. 4. 7600. 226 .

The problem you see may occur when there is a version mismatch of the file with the Windows Update Agent files, which is a mixture of old files with the new files. This is due to an installation "or damaged."

You can take a look at your windowsupdate.log file located in your WINDOWS directory, to check the error codes - missing files or failling updated files (especially c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll, wups2.dll, c:\windows\system32\wups.dll or wuweb.dll).

You must re-register or re - install files WU in order to obtain the Service Windows Update works again. Try here:

  • New installation of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit does not install the Windows updates

I tried it twice.  I install Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit on a ThinkPad T61.  After installation and activation successful Windows, I tried Windows updates.  The 'check updates' never ends.  After the first installation of Windows, I tried all sorts of bugs found either here or other Windows Help Web sites, does not.  So I reinstalled Windows, but with the same result.

After that the first installation was impossible to install updates, I received the Windows Update stand-alone Installer and downloaded the stand-alone files for updates.  Would install things like IE updates, but no security update would install, as well as most other updates.  Yet once, just standalone Setup would continue to search for already installed updates without ever ending.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks for the comments.  It's good to hear that you have actually solved the problem.

Just install Windows XP SP3 manually...

Before do you - make sure you have restored all the way back to Internet Explorer 6 * and * all your drivers for hardware devices are the latest version of each of the web pages by the hardware manufacturer (Microsoft did not your hardware - to be of course checked manually for the most recent driver by visiting the Web pages or the manufacturers yourself and find the latest driver for any model device (s) you have - map) motherboard chipset video, audio, network, etc.)

Get SP3 (manually) and save it to your desktop. (There's a link here.) [You are a COMPUTER professional for now.]

    Install it.

Then restart at least a couple of times for a few minutes between each restart.

Download at least Internet Explorer 7 (if it is not Internet Explorer 8).

    Install it.

    Reset.

Now, try to get the updates through the normal web page (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) and see how much more you can get (100 +) and keep checking until you no longer have.

Back - let everyone know if it worked for you.

  • I have an old version of XP Professional SP1 and a CD with SP2 but when I install both and go to the Windows Update Page I get an error 0x804400A2 number

and a message that says "the website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view, etc.

Download Windows XP Service Pack 3 from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads .  You can not access the updates Windows XPSP2 or XPSP1 longer.
