  • Windows will not open .exe files

I had a look around at some of the answers on the site, but to be honest has been quite complicated for me! I tried to put my XP in safe mode, but she was having none of it.

This problem has been around for a few days now, since I got a virus. I struggled to open the .exe files, and even worse, it is that when I go into control panel I can't open anything in here no more! Not even my file system restore to a point.

Can anyone recommend anything? This is the second time I am running Malwarebytes. Did I post the logfile when it's done?

    Thanks in advance, Nat

Thanks for your reply... but after that I ran Malwarebytes and some deleted items, it works fine now!

    Thanks anyway, Natalie

Looks like your Windows file associations have to dispose. This means that XP is not
know what to do with the files by looking at the file extension (for example, .exe for executables,
    .doc for MS documents, etc.).

If you don't have it you, something done for you - most likely malware.

  • I can not open zip files!

I had this problem since day 1.  Whenever I get a zip file, Vista will not open the file instead, he associated with Internet Explorer and sends the computer into a loop of windows which can only be stopped by stopping turn signals.  If I associate the file with any other program, it opens not and goves me a message that the content is unreadable.  I do not get an option to "extract files".

    Help!

    Bschum

Go to: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/22/reset-and-fix-broken-windows-vista-file-ext-and-type-associations-include-exe-com-sys-zip-lnk-folder-drive/ and scroll down to the ZIP entry and click or double-click on it to launch the association of Zip files repair.  Then restart.  Zip files should now behave as usual.  You will still be able to use 7 - Zip instead of Vista if that is your choice.  All you have to do is change the file association by default for the ZIP files to 7-ZIP inntead of Vista.

If you have this problem withall the speed of your program, Diecut for entry EXE click or double-ICCT top to run the EXE file association repair.  This should solve the problem of all programs to open under internet explore (if that is the case - I'm not sure I quite understand your situation).

If the programs are open OK but the problem is that all the icons are all the internet Explorer icons, then perform a rebuild of the cache icon as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/117229-icon-cache-rebuild.html.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Excel 2010 does not open .xlsx files by double click in Explorer... photo mgr open

I am running Windows 7 since 12/2010 and have been using office 2007.  06/05/12, I installed office 2010.  Since that time the new excel will not open .xlsx files in Explorer by double clicking on the file name... Excel 2007 does that very well.  Instead of excel opens, Manager of photo is trying to open up.  I tried to change the default program assignments, but the only options are Office 2010, Microsoft Works Spreadsheet and Microsoft Open XML converter.  No does the job and as I mentoned, if I take of Office 2010, it tries to open Picture Manager who can not read the file.  There is no good Excel option to the association of .xls, it shows Excel as the deafult.

It was livable, until people began to send me .xlsx files attached to an email and he's trying to open them as pcitures.

Try to edit the file in this way association

    In Windows 7:
1 right click on the file,
    2. Select 'Open with' select [Choose default program]
    3. click the Browse button and navigate to Excel [example: C:\Program Files (x 86) \Microsoft Office\Office14\excel.exe]
    4. check always use this program.
  • JavaLoader error: could not open the file

I developed a small application and I'm trying to install it in my camera (Curve 8900) using the javaloader. I used Blackberry plugin for eclipse to develop my app and it works very well in the Simulator. I got the shape of keys BB to sign the application and all of the APIs are now signed.  the javaloader that I use is the one in the eclipse installation folder:

    C:\eclipse clasic\plugins\net.rim.ejde.componentpack4.2.1_4.2.1.19\components\bin

I use this version because I used to develop the small JRE 4.2.1 application in eclipse.

and the command is: javaloader.exe u load myapp.cod

I get just the error: error: could not open the file and nothing is copied to the device.

The connection is good because I am able to see the device help info: javaloader-u deviceinfo

I have just the knowledge base on the development for BB and it's my first show stopper...

Thanks in advance for your help

This is the solution... I managed to install the application without delay!

    Thank you very much

  • Cannot open exe files that requires the internet service or install anything due to the restricted access - error = 5

I am an administrator on my current account, can someone help me please, help is very appreciated. I've read other threads and try to find solutions, but no luck.

    Hello

    1. You did changes to the computer before the show?
    2. What version of web browser work?

You can temporarily disable the antivirus software, and then try to install programs, and also try to open .exe files to check if that helps.

Check the link for more information.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    I hope this helps!

  • Do not open the file .xlsx 'reason '.

Try to open a file .xlsx, I've got the announcement that it could not open the file due to "some reason" ("created reden" in Dutch)

What the reason is, however, is not mentioned. There is something special with this file?

The file is a file .xlsx from a bookseller in line line in the Netherlands, with a list of books that I have offered online (like Amazon)

Cannot guess what "reason" may be, but I suggest you try to open it with Apache, OpenOffice or LibreOffice, both available for download at no cost. (Donations are requested, however.)

    Kind regards

  • Satellite U300 PSU3DA: error: could not open the file attribute execution of concept maps

I have a PSU3DA-U300 which I changed from Vista to XP.
This is because my main computer use will be for navigation (boat) and I was told that most navigation programs will work better with XP. I have almost nothing on my laptop so far, and the system already seems to be slow and freezing too often.

My question is now on the program of concept maps which I just installed and which does not open. He repeats to me "Eorror: could not open the file attribute.

What does that mean? I uninstall and reinstall the program, and he comes back with this message.
I had a glance at the Device Manager, and the only thing that seems incorrect is the PCI memory controller.
I did a bit of research on this and it seems that this driver is not required for XP? Is this true?

Would this be a cause of C-Maps program does not?

    Thanks in advance.

    > I did a bit of research on this and it seems that this driver is not required for XP? Is this true?
Where did you read this info?
I put t know if the driver is not required, but you get all the drivers on the Toshiba site.

For your problem with concept maps, I think that it is best to contact you that support the conceptual maps. Here, this is a forum for Toshiba laptops.
