Do you need to uninstall MSE before the upgrade to Windows 7?

I am upgrading to Windows 7 Home Premium from XP, uninstall MSE for the upgrade?

There is no place in upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7, so disabling or uninstalling, so be it, you will need to do a custom installation.

The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

If you want to upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7, you won't lose iTunes music library. However, there is a chance of losing the music of iTunes library if you choose custom installation.

  • Recommendations on good backup before the upgrade to Windows?

I'm sure this has been asked several times, but to be honest, I never really worried too much when I backed up an operating system - including Windows. I have not had much time on Windows I have with another system (Commodore Amiga), but we approach the free update of Windows 10, I want to make sure the huge amount of data on my laptop is preserved when I switch from Win 7 to 10.

What is the easiest and most convenient way I save my old system to prepare for a new installation? I am looking for strategies and solutions here to those who did it probably more that I have in the past.

Windows 7 has a great program called Easy Transfer that works very well.  It creates a single very large file on a hard drive external (with sufficient capacity).  I use it all the time when I have to replace a hard drive.  It "remembers" all your DATA and settings. Even your wallpaper.

I guess Windows 10 will offer a similar capability.

Being a wise guy, I also copy all data files to the same external drive.

You can't back up programs or the operating system.  They must be installed individually on the new OS.

Sometimes its not so reliable, but I love it for its attention to detail, can be created in addition to the other. It reduces much of the heavy lifting with migration.

Using it, the only thing you usually need to do is to reinstall applications and drivers, and makes appropriate recommendations.

Please note that Windows Easy Transfer is not supported in Windows 10. The recommended alternative is PC Express:

  • Windows 7 upgrade advisor, Vista, says that Firefox must be uninstalled before the upgrade and that I won't be able to reinstall it, is it true?

I'm currently running Vista, 32-bit. I am considering upgrading to Windows 7. I ran the report Upgrade Advisor and he said "Mozilla Firefox 20.0.1 must be uninstalled before the upgrade to Windows 7. You will be able to reinstall it after upgrading to Windows 7. "This seems inaccurate info, based on the Firefox site, but I want to check what I have to do before you start the upgrade. Leave Firefox installed and in place when I update or uninstall and reinstall then after the upgrade?

Hello herplaw, you're right, this doesn't look good - firefox will work fine on windows 7. I leave it installed and to proceed with the update. in any case (if you need to reinstall it later), you can also save personal information that is stored in your firefox profile before continuing: back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox

Hello... I have recently upgraded to windows 10 against windows 8.1 original factory installed. Now, after factory reset/restore my OS answer 8.1 original windows or windows 10 will retain as well as all the drivers? My recovery partition has also been updated with windows 10 or is there any means to do so? If I need to reinstall windows 10 can I go with windows ISO 10 or I'll have to do it from windows update? Can I make recovery fee/dvd player for windows 10 with windows/HP recovery manager after this upgarde?

    Hello

    1. depending on how you restore your machine, but using factory reset your machine will be back to 8.1 for Windows

    2. no recovery partition will not be upgraded to Windows 10. You create the recovery/backup media BEFORE the upgrade to Windows 10 otherwise it can become useless.

  • After the upgrade to Windows 7, the screen flickers / blinks constantly

It's probably a graphics card problem. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 6100... I have 128 MB of memory allocated for it, which is what I needed. I updated the driver as soon as Windows 7 Finally got installed. That's all just annoying... as my screen is having an epileptic seizure.

It is certainly not a monitor issue... it worked fine with XP.

    Hello Briadru4,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

Try to start in safe mode to determine if the problem is still present:

Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not work in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed. Safe mode is useful for troubleshooting problems with programs and drivers that might not start correctly, or that might prevent Windows from starting correctly. If a problem does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic as possible cause device drivers. If a program recently installed, device, or driver prevents Windows from running correctly, you can start your computer in safe mode, and then remove the program that is causing the problem.

    1. remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.

Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.

    2. do one of the following:

    • If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.
    • If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

    3. on the screen Options Options Advanced startup, use the arrow keys to select the safe mode option you want, and press ENTER. For more information about the options, see Advanced startup options (including safe mode).

4 log your computer with a user account with administrator rights.

When your computer is in safe mode, you will see marked Safe Mode in the corners of the screen. To leave safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally.

  • Cannot connect to internet after a reboot before you uninstall and then reinstall the network card. (After the upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista)

This problem started immediately after the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) to Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit).  Again, I want to remind that I never had this problem before installing Windows 7.

-After a reboot, I am presented with the impossible to connect the network indicator (yellow triangle with!) in the task bar.  (It was how I was welcomed after the installation of Windows 7 is said by the way).

-The only way I found to regain connectivity is to uninstall and reinstall the network via the device manager card, date at which the computer always successfully connects and remains connected until the next reboot.

    Network card: Realtek RTL8168C (P) / 811C (P) Family PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)

    Driver provider: Microsoft
    Driver date: 14/05/2009
    Driver version: 7.2.1127.2008
    Digital signer: Microsoft Windows

Thus, we have solved the problem! There are two possibilities of your problems:
1 company Adobe uses the Bonjour service , this service should be disabled.
Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services => find the bonjour service (sometimes stated as long numbers), stop service and if the Disabled value. It works!

    2. If it is not signed as Bonjour service. Try to disable the service:
Shutdown mDNSResponder .exe (he is represented by # Id_String1.6844F930_1628_4223_B5CC_5BB94B879762 #).

It is installed with Adobe software. If you upgrade the Vista, it will generally many users problem!

  • Do I need to uninstall it before installing a ps/2 compatible mouse

    Hello

should I uninstall ps/2 compatible mouse? prior to installation you recommended

First a little advice.  If something is not broken, do not fix it.  You say something tells you that your mouse driver was obsolete, but it was the work of the mouse?  If it was, it was a mistake to fool with the driver.

In regards to your PS/2 mouse, is what brand?  The Synaptics driver sounds to me that it would be for your touchpad, not your mouse.  Your touchpad works?  Worst case, you can buy a USB mouse and use it.  You can buy these for as little as $4.

If you need to come back before you begin the update of drivers, you should study the system restore back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

    -

When you got your system back as you, I invite you to buy an external hard drive, and a good backup 3rd party program. You can configure it to automatically do everything in time and frequency of your choice. 1.5 TB external hard drives is approximately $90 these days and a very good FREE backup program corresponds to the Easeus todo backup free of charge that you can download from

http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm . Who can make you save a lot of time and frustration, the next time something like this happens. Sooner or later, it happens to all computers for one reason or another.

    Good luck.

  • You must stop your request before the engine may stop

I have an integrated application that uses LV DSC 6.0.2. The application starts and stops the engine tag programmatically. The application works fine, but on some machines, I'll get continuously the next dialog box when I try to stop the engine of the tag:

"You must stop your request before the engine may stop"

It's strange, because it only happens on some machines (it seems that it can occur on computers with ONLY of DSC Run-Time installed, not the full dev system. DSC LV).

The dialog seems to refer to the application of 'control' which tries to stop the engine... it isn't telling me that my devices servers need to be stopped.

This dialog box does not seem logical, I should be able
to build an application that can start and stop the engine... and why I get this dialog on some machines but not on others?

    John Paul,

There are two points that we should ask ourselves:
1: you can have different loops while in your application where you read/write to and from the engine of the tag with the read/write Tag.vi. These screws has a stop of production which must be wired first the while loop. If you have cases where you do not connect this output to your time stop loop you could access the engine while you want to stop the engine in another loop with the Shutdown.vi engine. -> Make sure you have all drivers of DSC to access loops has stopped before you turn off the engine.

2nd: I guess he was once an issue of race with the DSC engine condition and how it access to shared memory with the read/write Tag.vi. But this condtion of race must be agreed with the version of LabVIEW DSC
6.1 or with other fixes for LabVIEW DSC 6.0.2. You can download patches (in this case, particularly the BVRTDatabase.dll) driver update page & of NOR: www.ni.com/support/ > Option 3, drivers and updates > Search drivers and updates > type 'LabVIEW DSC' > choose LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control 6.0.2 fixes.
You must apply the patches of this as well on your DSC 6.0.2 Run Time System!

I hope that one of the help of two suggestions to solve your problem.

    Concerning

    Hello:

Your model is pretty easy to install W7 x 64 on.

If you let me know which model of laptop wireless card is came with, I'll post the link to this driver too.

I don't think the drivers wireless since the page g7z-2100 driver will work.

Here are links to most of the drivers you need:

First of all, download and install the AMD chipset driver and restart.  To install the smbus and usb3 controllers.

    http://support.AMD.com/en-us/download/chipset?OS=Windows 7-64

You can then use all the other W7 x 64 drivers and software the g7z-2100 on the link below (except maybe the wireless).
