Documentation in the Test of the VCAP-DCA

Hi all

I'm studying for my VCAP-DCA and I found it useful to refer to the documentation to refresh my memory on ESXCLI orders for rare tasks like masking/unmasking of paths to a LUN.  I heard that the Documentation centre of VMware vSphere 5.5 is available for consultation in the test lab you do the test.  Is this true?  If so, is it available as it's online?  In other words, I'll be able to type 'Mask paths' into a search bar to find the commands for the LUN mask/unmask railways if I forgot?

Thank you in advance for your help/advice!

There are links to the Documentation Centre of vSphere 5.5 and http://kb.vmware.com/ as well as a ton of PDF files contained in the plan of action https://mylearn.vmware.com/lcms/web/portals/certification/VCAP_Blueprints/VCAP5-DCA-VDCA550-Exam-Blueprint-v3_3.pdf

I have a query on the VCAP-DCA Certification the...

I am certified VCP4, My target is VCAP5-DCA.

My query is... If I take the review VCP5 directly with output authorized Vmware training...

What am eligible to the Certification VCAP5-DCA...?

You can not. It is a difficult requirement - you MUST have the class to have the VCP certification. You can take the exam without the class, but you do not get the certification without the class. This is to avoid exactly what you are doing. A dump is just a memory exercise. By forcing the class, we know that you had some practices, even if for a week. We want the VCP to the senses, and not be just an exercise in memorizing the answers. This isn't knowledge, which is just facts randomly.

  • Nature of the VCAP-DCA issues

    Hello

These questions are for those who have taken the VCAP-DCA exam or anyone envolved with this review.

I want just to have an idea about the nature of the VCAP-DCA exam questions.

I saw the demo provided by VMware. I don't want anyone to voilate the NDA and share the questions with us.

but here are some of the questions I have:

1 - How VMware does not mark the results? They monitoring/recording the whole review and assess the review on how to make or that they only care about final results?

2 - if VMware results cares so y did - it a mandate on how to accomplish a task? (for example, you can perform a task of vCenter Server and vSphere client (GUI) or you can use the command line (using the vMA vCLI or powerCLI)

    3. I guess you don't have to deal with 3rd device configuration part. I just want to confirm.

For example for grouping of NETWORK cards you do not have to set up Port Trunking on Cisco switches or facing SAN administration.

like I'm supposed to add a logical unit number to my ESX servers all configurations on SAN are precofigured and correct. (Level of access,...)

4 - Last but not least - if you want to give a percentage of GUI vs. command line, what will your percentage?

It's my first full review of laboratory, and I don't want to take any chances.

    Thank you

    1. the action plan is clear... they assess if you reach the objectives of the task... not how.

    2. you can choose how to... of course in some cases, you can do some tasks from the GUI.

    3. 3rd party is not included... But remember that the action plan also requires vShied and vCenter heartbeat areas!

    4. my humble opinion, it depends on you... If you want to do everything alone by GUI you can do more than half of jobs with it (I can't be more specific because of the NDA).

  • How to program the VCAP-DCA to VMWorld2014 test?

    Hello

I recently registered for VMWorld 2014.   I currently have my VCP5.x already and am currently studying for my review of VCAP-DCA 5.x.   I would like to take my exam at VMWorld 2014 on-site at the Conference.

Simply, I can't find any reliable information on how to sign up for this place.

I have my pre approval for the VCAP certification.   I also contacted PearsonVue, but their support team has no idea on VMWorld.

Is someone took their on-site review during VMWorld?

The timetable for the review happens via the site Web of VMWorld or PearsonVue?

I know the review slots fill fast because of the generous test discount and I don't want to miss.

I'd appreciate any help or advice.

    Thank you very much.   John

  • Materials available during the review of the VCAP-DCA

    Hi guys,.

Who will be my VCAP-DCA exam at the end of the month.

I was reviewing notes and format of the DCA, and it is not clear what materials are available to the candidate during the examination.

Are functions online help or the documents available to the candidate during the DCA?

Or do we have to memorize all the menu items and orders for this review?

    Thank you
    Kelvin

You will have access to all the functions of built-in help of interfaces and the different tools and documentation that refers to the action plan.

But, time is tight and you have to rely on access to these things as little as possible - in the best position to be in is not not to refer to the documentation/help at all.

I did DCA on vSphere 4 and the same is true for this - I haven't used documentation for a couple of tasks and should make reference to the CLI help a few times - screen strive to keep that to a minimum.

  • Recommended lab environment for the preparation of the VCAP-DCA

I started to prepare for my certification and would be grateful for each entry to a proper test environment

    including VM, Applications, etc...

My project looks like: 2-ESXi 4.1 Cluster with vCenter 4.1 Standard on a storage FC (No iSCSI in the company...)

I agree that it is better to use two ESX and ESXi - review you certainly both tasks.

  • How to get books used in the VCAP course

In preparation for the VCAP courses and exams, I'd like to see if I can find the names of the books for these courses, and if there is a way to buy books for the course in advance, in order to prepare for the course and the examination or anyone with extras.

I have listed the courses below, and if you have any info on the materials for them and can spend it will be useful thanks!

The other thing to do to the VCAP-DCA is build a lab and play, play and play more... Don't forget that this review is 100% live labs.

  • Question about the phase-out of the VCAP

    Hello

I just recently had my VCP5 and I plan to start studying for my VCAP but I noticed the following thread: Re: VCAP exams is being gradually...

It is, will change the goals, etc.? This would affect me if I got my VCAP-DCA in the meantime? If I have to spend another review for the VTC VCIX or just change the title?

    Thank you

    Jake

It is only the new track of virtualization of network which includes the new VCIX element at the moment - he there is no news on the existing VTC, DT, and tracks of cloud.

So, for now I continue as planned to the VCAP-DCA or VCAP-DCD (you don't tell you you're aiming for)

  • VCP410.is spent there all recommended for the preparation of the vcap?

Couldn't believe I erased this in my first attempt with 350 + score. For me, it's a hard to split nut.

I finished my vsphere 4.0 training almost a year ago. I lived vmware docs, Scott Lowe on 'Mastering VMware vSphere4.0' registry home lab and youtube videos on vmware configurations.

In addition, Simonlong and other vmware Articles are a great resource for reference. Mock exams on the vmware website and simon long helped in practice.

Now, I'm looking forward to the vcap-dca. Looking for suggestions on how to prepare.

    Thanks in advance,

  • VCAP-DCA comes to vSphere 5.0?

    Hello

I'm a little confused on how to go to the VCAP-DCA exam, I was preparing for him to last three months, but some time I learned to know that DCA VCAP who judge your skills on vSphere 4.0 currently would be revised in accordance with the latest 5.0, I decided to renew my VCP 410 to 510 PCC and wait more recent review now after my VCP510 two days. I checked for any change of VCAP vmware site but it is always about the same.

Can someone please help me on this, is vmware guys are reworking on redesign VCAP-DCA or will I advance for VCAP-DCA 4.0?

    Thanks in advance,

    MILIN

Beta VCAP5-DCA (only for those selected) will probably start next Monday and may close after 4 weeks...

Examine at least one (but probably two months or more) for the results... I guess that this formal review may not begin before July...

  • Guidelines for the review of VCAP-DCA (Administration)

    Dear experts,

Please pass me a review of vcap-dca guide. where can I get the exact study material.

And share me if you have any other ideas for this exam.

    Kind regards

    Siva

There are certainly some great study there guides. Jason Langer and Josh Coen have many resources on their blogs. A study guide I also want to mention is the guide of study by Mike Preston and myself, we made a theory and an approach by based scenario (which you can find at DCA review) which brings the theoretical knowledge to the reality.

You will find the Jason Langer & Josh Coen here, Mike Prestons study guide and mine here. The VMware community is really helpful, so if you have any questions on the left, just ask them.

  • When the VCAP-DCD and VCAP-DCA examinations for vSphere 5.0 will be available for registration?

I'm a VCP5, I can't take the VCAP-DCD and DCA for vSphere 4.0 right? If the ideas when VMware will release the version 5.0 VCAP-DCD and DCA reviews? Thank you very much!

    Hello

I asked the team of certification at VMworld on release dates and got a very vague answer. So far, there had been no mention of the beta exams VCAP nor is the same model released so I don't see it to become available before the end of February, which as noted Simon is a real shame that this means that all the VCP4 and VCAP4 holders must make the VCP5 in order to save to the Whats New course as a prerequisite. For the cost of the reviews, I think it's a real slap in the face to those who have spent time and money, get a number of certifications. Also there is no official decision of if you go the VCAP5 you will have your VCP4 improved to 5. So although validations who says that have been deleted.

I booked my VCP5 because of this lack of news and ability to upgrade and I'm seriously considering not even reviews of VCAP5 because it takes a lot of time, money and effort to get to them and then VMware take forever to even keep up to date on how it's going or if there will be any sort of upgrade.

I say VMware as a show of thanks for those who have spent so much time getting VCAP4 accreditations gives a 50% discount good for the VCAP5.

I've built a whole page of resources that I use for my VCP5 if you are interested, here: http://thesaffageek.co.uk/vcp5/

Also a page for the resources of VCAP5 here: http://thesaffageek.co.uk/vcap5-dca-dcd/

  • VCAP-DCA how in the world and in europe / us?

I am preparing for this certification (already a VCP4 Nr. 64xxx) and wonder if someone could tell me how much are VCAP-DCA already around world and in Europe / U.S.? It would be very useful to know the actual severity and the value of it...

I agree that the number of DCDS seems higher, this is interesting, find it me that it has been available for less time, and there are several directors that designers so I'm expecting that there finally DCAs than DCDS - perhaps it's as if it were for the moment because of the difficulty of the examination of the DCA.

I don't have my number DCA again, I maybe 300!
