  It's probably pretty basic, but I have not yet found the answer. I'm trying to run an import job using imp of the Scheduler. I modified the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora file so that the work is run as user oracle. If I take the result of 'whoami' in the program, he said yes I am oracle, but ORACLE_HOME etc. are not defined. Is - this intentional? I would think that it runs the .bashrc etc to get the right environment for the user.

• How to program the VCAP-DCA to VMWorld2014 test?

  I recently registered for VMWorld 2014.   I currently have my VCP5.x already and am currently studying for my review of VCAP-DCA 5.x.   I would like to take my exam at VMWorld 2014 on-site at the Conference.

  Simply, I can't find any reliable information on how to sign up for this place.

  I have my pre approval for the VCAP certification.   I also contacted PearsonVue, but their support team has no idea on VMWorld.

  Is someone took their on-site review during VMWorld?

  The timetable for the review happens via the site Web of VMWorld or PearsonVue?

  I know the review slots fill fast because of the generous test discount and I don't want to miss.

  I'd appreciate any help or advice.

  You can not. It is a difficult requirement - you MUST have the class to have the VCP certification. You can take the exam without the class, but you do not get the certification without the class. This is to avoid exactly what you are doing. A dump is just a memory exercise. By forcing the class, we know that you had some practices, even if for a week. We want the VCP to the senses, and not be just an exercise in memorizing the answers. This isn't knowledge, which is just facts randomly.

• Nature of the VCAP-DCA issues

  These questions are for those who have taken the VCAP-DCA exam or anyone envolved with this review.

  I want just to have an idea about the nature of the VCAP-DCA exam questions.

  I saw the demo provided by VMware. I don't want anyone to voilate the NDA and share the questions with us.

  but here are some of the questions I have:

  1 - How VMware does not mark the results? They monitoring/recording the whole review and assess the review on how to make or that they only care about final results?

  2 - if VMware results cares so y did - it a mandate on how to accomplish a task? (for example, you can perform a task of vCenter Server and vSphere client (GUI) or you can use the command line (using the vMA vCLI or powerCLI)

  3. I guess you don't have to deal with 3rd device configuration part. I just want to confirm.

  For example for grouping of NETWORK cards you do not have to set up Port Trunking on Cisco switches or facing SAN administration.

  like I'm supposed to add a logical unit number to my ESX servers all configurations on SAN are precofigured and correct. (Level of access,...)

  4 - Last but not least - if you want to give a percentage of GUI vs. command line, what will your percentage?

  It's my first full review of laboratory, and I don't want to take any chances.

  1. the action plan is clear... they assess if you reach the objectives of the task... not how.

  2. you can choose how to... of course in some cases, you can do some tasks from the GUI.

  3. 3rd party is not included... But remember that the action plan also requires vShied and vCenter heartbeat areas!

  4. my humble opinion, it depends on you... If you want to do everything alone by GUI you can do more than half of jobs with it (I can't be more specific because of the NDA).

  Hi all

  I'm studying for my VCAP-DCA and I found it useful to refer to the documentation to refresh my memory on ESXCLI orders for rare tasks like masking/unmasking of paths to a LUN.  I heard that the Documentation centre of VMware vSphere 5.5 is available for consultation in the test lab you do the test.  Is this true?  If so, is it available as it's online?  In other words, I'll be able to type 'Mask paths' into a search bar to find the commands for the LUN mask/unmask railways if I forgot?

  Who will be my VCAP-DCA exam at the end of the month.

  I was reviewing notes and format of the DCA, and it is not clear what materials are available to the candidate during the examination.

  Are functions online help or the documents available to the candidate during the DCA?

  Or do we have to memorize all the menu items and orders for this review?

  You will have access to all the functions of built-in help of interfaces and the different tools and documentation that refers to the action plan.

  But, time is tight and you have to rely on access to these things as little as possible - in the best position to be in is not not to refer to the documentation/help at all.

  I did DCA on vSphere 4 and the same is true for this - I haven't used documentation for a couple of tasks and should make reference to the CLI help a few times - screen strive to keep that to a minimum.

  Hello world?, please can someone tell me how do the command prompt as Administrator via/via menu environment of recovery with the option prompt orders..., that way I can activate the hidden administrator because I forgot my password of the computer... rather than editing the registry with the cmd... It says on the top of the command prompt x administrator cmd prompt and on the guest herself said x source then the guest... I thought that I can activate the admin hidden here coz he said administrator on the top of the program but it won't let me activate the admin hidden using this command: "net user administrator / Active. ": Yes" he says: successfully completed, but after I rebooted the computer the hidden admin did not appear on the menu of connection of users, I can activate the admin hidden with this command. "net user administrator / Active: Yes" through connection to a normal startup, then proceed to the command prompt with administrator previledge, but not through, dvd environment then recovery recovery menu system, the command line option... is one way or shortcut to the command prompt with admin previledge as the high cmd prompt the normal start standard? Please please help... I want to do coz I forgot my password for admin user computer, there is no other user account on the computer...   You cannot install the vcenter on 1, 2 or 3. you need to find #4 =). It cannot be shared with any of the current role server. vCenter 4.1 required 64 bit windows 2008 r2.

  with VMware View, you create a virtual office. 1 Virtual Office = 1 session. and oh yes you will find # 5 which is the host ESX Server where you will be virtual office say windows7 or Windows XP.

  I finished my vsphere 4.0 training almost a year ago. I lived vmware docs, Scott Lowe on 'Mastering VMware vSphere4.0' registry home lab and youtube videos on vmware configurations.

  In addition, Simonlong and other vmware Articles are a great resource for reference. Mock exams on the vmware website and simon long helped in practice.

  Now, I'm looking forward to the vcap-dca. Looking for suggestions on how to prepare.

• Best practices for the implementation of environment laboratory in ESX 3.5

  Hi all

  I currently have two systems ESX 3.5 in a dmz on a network for a lab environment. The place has a few other external servers such as dc, servers, exchange, ect, so even if it is in a demilitarized zone and a controlled DMZ network I want to ensure that the ESX 3.5 systems are in a sandbox environment. They need 1 external network adapter so that the virtual machine can download patches ect but the rest of the communication, I would like to be established between the VM internally. In other words, in a world of VM Workstation 6 I would have only 1 bridged network adapter but all others would be articulate under internal network cards.   This lab will be available for a lot of people like someone not running a DHCP server or a new domain controller which could knock out the other test environments in the demilitarized zone.

  How would you put this together with the vswitches? is Director of the laboratory, the best way to do this?

  To my knowledge there is no way "internal" to do. Workstation is by design the use of test/development and not the production-oriented and therefore the set of features is different from ESX (i).
