Hey pouyan1,

If you do not completely reformat the Macintosh HD before restore you the backup, you will encounter this problem.

Utility disk show the Macintosh HD at all?

Assuming you have a back up, use the recovery disk to completely erase a Macintosh hard drive via disk utility.

Open utility disk, select Macintosh HD, set the Mac OS extended (journaled) format, and then click clear. If it does not work, or indicates the hard disk is a failure, try again using a secure erase.

Once the hard drive is completely reformatted, try to restore again.

Good luck

  • Searching for pictures of iOS 10 works is not as expected

I have updated to a couple of my iOS devices (iPhone 6 and iPad Air) iOS 10, actually 10.1 public beta 1 now, but find the results obtained in the search of my library of ~ 5000 photos and videos quite modest.

I very rarely get the images I'm looking for, if any.

For example, 'find my photos from the Netherlands' Returns none so I have 122 in my library.

The research of the city of Delft (that is the Netherlands) returns a single result, which, ironically, shows a screen indicating the word "Delft" on a local train.

I wonder if there is the possibility of re-indexing of the library or the device can be done on a Macintosh, but I'm afraid user ios do not have such a luxury for now.

In my troubleshooting process I spent from Italian to English, since this might be a reason for poor search results. But things have not changed.

Of course, if I ask "Find my photos of the mountains" (or dogs by the way) I get decent results this image recognition works though, not much luck with geotags.

    Any idea?

    Wow!

The answer to this question of mine has been overwhelming... (I'm kidding)

In the meantime, FYI Apple has released the iOS 10.0.2 update that solves the problem of geotags.

I can now find my photos from the low countries (or Switzerland or India also) and get the correct results.

  • Photoshop CS6 icons sometimes don't appear on Macintosh

    Yes, it's a question.

I use my trial of Photoshop CS6 extended for 10 days now. I ran into a particular problem - when saving a file Photoshop does not display any kind of icon. No thumbnail, non-generic, nothing. It is not a huge problem, I can always open the image but don't not by double-clicking the icon: it is simply not there.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there is a resolution- or is this just a bug? I didn't have this problem with version beta and I fixed all the permissions on my hard drive to see if that was the problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Clinton

Thumbnails in the open dialog box are provided by the operating system (as is the majority of the open/save dialog).  So, there is always a problem with creating BONE or the display of thumbnails.

It is not a question of blame Apple without reason, just that Apple has a lot of bugs in the operating system that quickly attaches.

Here, we know that the operating system is responsible for the miniatures, clearing the cache of the OS of the thumbnails and metadata better for some people, and that even after the operating system cannot always pull thumbnails when it is supposed to.  I have no idea why it would be worse, in some applications, others - but the OS is clearly not draw labels, and this isn't something that Photoshop has no control over.

  • Power Macintosh G3 with dual monitors high resolution

I hope this info will help someone wanted to run two large screens monitors (4:3) on the Power Macintosh G3 Beige minitour. My results resonance of an earlier post that I started, which was DVI PCI Card/s for G3 minitour, but all ended up as I felt the need of a new subject header.

It seems that nobody had actually done what I was trying to do, there was no guarantee it was possible. However, several of you gave some excellent suggestions to try and you all are help and many more read and experiment, I "cracked the nut.

So, I wanted to point out here know how it worked, so that anyone wishing to run two monitors to modern flat screen with a resolution of 1600 x 1200 on a Beige G3 minitour could do without having to go through what I had to. I guess that would apply to the version of office as well, but not sure.

The first thing to know is that, according to the specifications of apple, the machine MUST have the 333 MHz motherboard, as something that less will take NOT supported above resolution 1280.

Second, I never two screens connected to both VGA cards (I got two of them in the PCI slots). It was suggested I zap the PRAM, but that does not work.

So, using the DB15 video port as the monitor 1 factory, I had to have a VGA adapter. I tried 3 different Mac to VGA adptrs., and no matter how I set the dip-switch, it wouldn't work. Suddenly something occurred to me. If the G3 (333 MHz) would support 1600 and the monitor would support 1600, why do we need switches. Just adapt the mounting.

So, I bought a DB15 VGA right adpt. with no switch just to adapt the VGA cable connection. Here's the interesting thing. After that I started and got on the desk, my HR monitor (attached to the VGA PCI card) was 1600, but LH monitor has NOT been set to 1600. So, I went to the CP monitors to see if he has shown as available. It IS there, but in italics, which normally means is not available. Just to smile and laugh, I decided to click on it anyway, and when I did, a window come indicating that I had chosen to change screen resolutions and confirm my choice. What to lose, right? So, I clicked on OK and, lo and behold, it changed to 1600 x 1200. Now, the two screens are in 1600 x 1200, whenever I start. I was blown away. Either way, monitors that I chose were fantastic... Dell UltraSharp 2007FPb (Ratio 4:3).

If it helps one person, I will be happy.

    Tom

Tom's excellent work, thanks for the report, I wondered what happened.

  • I have a MacBook Pro MD101LL/A can I install my student of MS Office 365 on the Macintosh HD or my drive Seagate external 1 TB hard?

I just bought this MacBook. I switched from Windows to Mac. I had the Office 365 Digital University installed on my Windows PC and try to install it on my MacBook. I have Setup running and it is required to install the disk hard Mac or external seagate. Don't know which install on.

    Hi Kenazzal,

When you install the software, it is usually best to install it on the same drive as the operating system on your Mac. It is usually Macintosh HD. The advantage that is the internal hard disk is generally faster transmission of information as an external drive and allows applications to launch and operate faster. In addition, installing an application to your external drive would prevent access to this application if the external hard drive was disconnected from your Mac.

    All my best.

I think that your best first step is to ask one of the Apple retail stores in London if they have a recommendation. A group of users Mac (MUG) can also be useful. You can find a group close with this web page:

  • After the migration of Macintosh HD lost + found folder appears

I did a migration from my old Macbook Pro and iMac 27 inches today. After migration was finished appeared several folders in the Macintosh HD, which normally are not there:

    -Record Office (empty)

    -var (from old Mac)

    -lost + (found 3 x ± 5 GB of files iNode)

I found the first two I could delete safely, but I don't know if I can do it with the ' lost + found ' folder. Searching the Internet I found out that this folder is probably created because of a hard disk crash. And a few months ago, I had a hard drive problem, because I accidentally turn off my Macbook Pro in the new update OS X and I had to fix my hard drive with diskutility. So I think that during the migration of this folder was also transferred to my new iMac. Does anyone know more about this topic and I can remove this folder safely? Help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

You can delete the folder. It can contain corrupted files, from which useful data can rarely, if ever, be retrieved.

  • Convert a Macintosh HD to the MBR to the schema GUID

My drive hard macintosh is installed on a 1 TB drive that has a MBR partition scheme. Currently, I run snow leopard 10.6.8. you want to upgrade to el captain. When I click the installer I get a msg "this disc does not use the GUID Partition table schema. Use disk utility to change the partition scheme. Select the drive, click the Partition tab, select the configuration of Volume and then click on Options". but as u see my screenshot below the 'options' tab is grayed out. How should I proceed? If your answer is to reinstall my os x or re-partition my drive... Please explain step by step because I am a beginner on mac. also I don't have a startup dvd for snow leopard.

FYI: I backed up my data using TM and super duper (Smart Update) to the same external hard drive.

You will have to reformat the hard disk to change it from MBR to GUID.

When you that all data on the hard drive with deleted then save whatever it is, you want to save first.
