Don't start by Satellite P100-188 - white screen
Hi all! I have a PC laptop toshiba satellite p100-188 and I have a problem with it. This morning when I tried to turn it on it didn't work. The fans started the LEDs on, but there is no display. I tried to turn it on with the battery, I have changed the plug, but still the laptop does not start.
Please someone help me, the laptop isn't even a month and it has barely been used. I even tried to connect the laptop to my desktop screen, but still no display. What can I do to overcome this problem.
The unit into hibernation mode or it was really OFF? See Toshiba welcome screen? Y at - there no sound?
If you have no success, please contact your local dealer. He may know if the device is defective.
Since the purchase of my Satellite P100-188, I was happy with the way it works, but had to send it the Tech, through PC World guys, because the orange case on the screen continuously develops cracks around the joints of the hinge. I'm about to send it back for a 3rd time and I was wondering if someone else had also encountered this problem?
Cracks develop in many more large cracks in a relatively short time. I use my laptop on a daily basis, when I get home from work, is not as if it is used throughout the day and after having spent over A £1000 on that I'm not about to start abusing her.
If someone managed to get a result of Toshiba please get in touch with me?
The same cracks appear on my notebook of s to a friend.
He simply made contact with the authorized service provider, and the shift has been replaced!
Why do you want results? I think the free replacement of the cover is a very good solution.
Simply contact the ASP in your country and you enjoy life B-)
I have a Toshiba Satellite P100 (PSPA6A) and am running Windows XP on it. Last month, I had a problem with my computer when the screen becomes white, then freezes and restarts itself.
I took it to a computer store to get the snippet, but they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I tried to find if all programs are at the origin of this problem but I have not been able to find. My computer can be on for 10 h, before this occurs, and it can be on for 5 minutes before this problem occurs. It can also occur during the loading screen before reaching the windows welcome screen. If it helps, there is a slight delay when the screen becomes white and when it's freezing (I have music in the background several times where the music was still playing for a few seconds while the screen was white, and then it froze and rebooted).
Any help would be appreciated.
Have you checked the RAM yourself using Memtest86 as resident suggested? I mean Memtest86 is really great to test the RAM and if there is a problem, Memtest86 should prove.
In addition I recommend you to check the HARD drive. Therefore, you can use Drive Fitness Test and Google is your friend to find.
This program is also free.
In the worst cases, you should go to an authorized service provider. Maybe it of a problem of the motherboard or processor, and this can be checked by a technician of the laptop.
I recenty installed a new Intel 5100 Series 512AN_MWW Mini PCI NIC in my Satellite P100 - 188 PSPA3E database.
However, when it is installed, he refused to view and start.
I'm sure (read the technical info) that these cards use the same interface.
So why it won't work?
Is an update of the BIOS to enable a feature. If so, could someone kludge one together please?
I have the latest version of the BIOS installed 4.70 and am running Windows Vista.
I am desperate for this that I already have a project N AP 2.0 and want to use it to its full capabilities.
If I understand your message you have improved the Interior card WLan Intel (Golan) Intel 3945ABG 802. 11a / g to Intel 5100 with project support.
Boyfriend although it seems that you can't use the WLan draft N card in this laptop model.
Seems such card is not compatible and cause interference.
As I know the Draft N need of 3-wire antenna the antenna Satellite P100-188 supports 2 wires only and can be used with the 802.11 A, B or G standard.
I just had a bit of trouble to install a piece of software that, in the end I could settle with a system restore. This process was worried at the time that I could not get the software uninstalled properly (I had to download a program from the machine to uninstall!)
At one point, I considered the restoration of my laptop Satellite P100-188 with the product recovery disc, the thing is I never did this before and I was wondering if someone could tell me the best sequence for later use.
I have a standard Windows Media Center Edition OS, a recovery disk of the product, a disk Express Media Player and a CD of Drivers and tools that I created when I got the laptop.
I have a feeling telling to restore Express Media Player before Windows, is does that mean that I have to insert this disc, install Express Media Player, then insert recovery disk product to install Windows?
The Express Media Player disc formats the drive? It's not clear to me and I don't want to run into problems when I finally don't have to reinstall my operating system.
I searched this forum to see if this information was already posted and could not find all the relevant information, all I can find are problems with the help of recovery and lack of discs discs.
If it has been posted before could you provide me a link and I'm sorry again calls for data.
If you want to have own OS preinstalled, the best solution is to use supplied recovery media. If the Express media player works well the leave it as it is and use the recovery DVDs only for clean operating system installation. All that s!
Tools and Utilities CD can be used if you need to reinstall Toshiba designed tools or if you want to install your own operating system by using the facilities of Microsoft CD. If you have any other questions please post again.
I just bought a Satellite p100-188 PC world and it came with MCE 2002. Why there no 2005, or where I can get the latest version of?
On this forum, you will find very useful and already answered the questions. Before you create topic you can use the search option to see if you can find answer to your question. I found already answered http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2763&messageID=14787 subject
By the way: a lot of useful info, you can also find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > Support homepage
Here, check the troubleshooting area. I recommend you to use the knowledge base.
my laptop a Toshiba Satellite P100-188 pspa3e or something, 1.8 duo core centrino t2400 to a yanoh of 2.3 t2700, I disassembled it me equipped with the new processor.
I've been running it for a week, without any problems with the heat, the fan deos doesn't come not only the last time or anything like that, normal perfectley except faster.
Anyone do deos I would recommend using the heat of grease on the processor and makesure you wipe off the old grease.
Can I upgrade my ram too?
First of all it information great s that you were able to upgrade the processor to a faster, BUT unfortunately; You warranty is no longer valid
So if something goes wrong turn (in the future), then you will have to pay for the correction!
If I would be so I wouldn't guarantee
However, request you the upgrade of RAM?
Yes, of course it is possible to upgrade the RAM s.
You can upgrade the RAM to 4 GB max, but I think that is not necessary because the 32-bit Windows will recognize only 3GB due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS!
Anyway, the compatible modules are: DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300) 200 - PIN SODIMM
I need a major update so I wanted to know if it is possible to upgrade the processor. I'm already playing Doom 3 ulra high with 4 X Ati and 1024 X 768.
He sent me some 46 frames per second, with 2 GB ddr 533.
Then I put the Satellite P100 - 188 T2400 T2500 or T2600 CPU and can I use ddr2 667 mhz Ram?
Any suggestions how much performance increase if you upgrade hard drive 5400 RPM to 7200 RPM with 8 MB of cache?
The CPU cannot be replaced. But you can expand the memory with the modules:
PA3499U - 1 M 25 (Kit of memory 256 Mo DDR2-667)
PA3511U - 1 M 51 (Kit of memory 512 MB DDR2-667)
PA3512U-1M1G(DDR2-667 1GB Memory Kit)
PA3513U-1M2G(DDR2-667 2GB Memory Kit)
DDR2-533 256 MB (PA3389U - 2M 25)
512 MB DDR2-533 PA3412U - 2 M (51)
1 GB OF DDR2-533 (PA3411U-2M1G)
The maximum memory that you can use this camera is 4 GB.
Having the Satellite P100 - 188 PSPA3E back to the United Kingdom. It seems now that I have a faulty card of the VGA GF-GO7600-N-A2, which is separated from the motherboard (A000006530), which is good news.
As I will have to replace it now, can I switch to the best map? I looked through google for replacement for 7600 cards, but have been unable to locate the exact card replacement. I have sent emails to different suppliers in the United Kingdom and now am waiting for answers. Nothing on ebay either right now, outside the chip 7600 Hong Kong, which would mean a soldering job?
Thanks in advance.
In General, graphics card can not be updated - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ7A01ZW0007R01.htm
What do you think about possible risks (more heat and so forth)?
Hey everybody. I bought my Satellite P100-188 last Sunday and I must say he realizes a lot in terms of games and General all-around use.
In any case, inside when you open the lid... I can see on the left, the badge sticker 'Core Duo', higher than is "Vista ready" sticker, but on the extreme right, there is a hack to help nothing stuck on it! If I am not mistaken, the Nvidia badge stickers belongs to this indenting.
If anyone knows how I can do to get one? I keeps not working machine, but it seems a little weird.
The first thing I do with a new computer is remove all the hardware popup stickers.
But, I'm willing to accept offers from potential sponsors for $50 per square centimetre of the surface of "advertising."
I just bought a Satellite P100-188 and this is my first laptop, it says in the manual "once the battery is fully charged, it is recommended that you use the computer only on battery power until the battery completely discharges.» This prolongs the life of the battery and helps to ensure accurate monitoring of the battery capacity"and"leave the AC adapter plugged in will shorten battery life. At least once a week, power the computer on battery power until the battery is completely discharged and then recharge the battery."
I was wondering if I should unplug it sector whenever that appears the battery charged? I only need to use the PC on batteries for short periods of time (most of the time I can connect to a power outlet) it would completely remove the battery and running on current alternative alone (even do that?)
in these moments, I know that the batteries have a finite charge time and I am just a little worried about the procedure to follow if there is place for long battery life, because they can be quite expensive to replace. So it is wise to place the battery on charge when it displays as power by half or a quarter, or should I let it drain completely before recharging?
I would appreciate some advice from all you seasoned users of laptops out there.
You should treat a battery as if it was in the manual.
Completely load, use it until it is empty, then charge again.
Only connect the laptop to power if necessary (means that the battery is empty).
Satellite A85-s107 white screen at startup by using the power of the battery
When I boot A85-s107 in battery power, it is get booted up in the background, but my screen is empty.
After that if I connect it to AC power and switch deactivation/activation of the laptop power button, the screen comes back to life.
There is no problem when I start upward when it is connected to an electrical outlet.
Battery is fully charged and computer will work off the battery voltage if I remove AC after boootup
also note that when I remove AC and then reconnect I start the computer on two occasions that it does not start the 1st time?
Don t need to recharge the battery if the AC adapter is plugged ;)
Try the tips posted by Alex otherwise it of a hardware problem, in my view, there seems to be something wrong with the motherboard...
In this case, only the replacement could help and it could be a costly affair
Hi, new to this forum.
Since the P100 188 PSPA3E, new, large laptop for my business including web design/download needs.
Only fault in a few months was crack on cover near hinge, which was a common fault at all, that I understand. Never bothered to set it as cosmetic. She is now 2.5 years old.
I started having problems with graphics on xp, when I got the system due to problems of Norton. I've also updated to windows 7 at this point, it having resisted before that time. Colors began to change, and I noticed that fans have become much louder and more and challenging. So I think that the graphics card may have suffered more heating, which seems to be a common problem in looking at sites of cell phone fix.
I dismantled the phone and cleaned for the proccessor and graphics card heat sinks, they are matched!
I reassembled and still have the same problem, the sytem has very poor graphics on external monitor (as does not appear on the LCD display) with verticle lines about 4 together in batches across the screen, even about to start of Toshiba. I tried several times to recovery disk, but it crashes with blue screen. ... nv4.mini.sys
Research on google, I understand that it is a sure sign that there is a problem with the graphics card or its driver. I find the new driver who has just be released 6 days ago that I write, but how to install this new driver, when the system is not install and recover. Or is the card NVidia 7600 finished.
No matter what advice or experience would be accepted with gratitude.
Thanks for your help.
Was hopeing that someone could have come back to this one.
Motherboard is A000006530 with sepererate circuit board for GF-GO7600-N-A2 graph (since it seems that some video cards are in the main motherboard.
It seems there have much said about updates driver on older cards of this type, don't not juggling software developments. As I am now trying a new Nvidia card is there a slight update of the older one?
I would be pleased by your thoughts or experiences.
Thanks in advance
We know when or if Toshiba will allow us to download these utilities compatible with cell phones series P100-188? I've very disappointed with the sound quality compared to my satellite M45 I replaced this P100-188 (PSP3AE).
I still don't see these utilities on the list tailored to this particular type of laptops. Can someone help me please?
Thank you and Merry Christmas John
Well, as far as I know some units of the P series are delivered without the energy saving and the virtual sound.
I don t know why, but I guess that it s a kind of policy
However, I don t think that Toshiba will design and develop the tools if the laptop has been delivered without these features.
I remember from one of my friends bought a unit in a series of P a long time ago and this laptop has not also been bundled with Toshiba power saver.
He had to use Windows power options instead of the energy saver.
I have a P100-188 and when I install itunes (ver 7.7.11 I think) my D drive disappeared.
If I check in the device manager that there is an error in there against the disc.
The only way I can get back the player must do a system restore.
Does anyone know the version of iTunes that I have to install to bypass this or the correct driver for the reader?
The device has a drive HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N installed.
Thank you very much
> "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." The error signature shows that: AppName: itunes.exe Appver:184.108.40.206 Modname: unknown Modver:0.0.0.0 Offset: 00008200.
I remember one of my friends had a similar question. The error always appears after the new installation of iTunes.
He called me and I tried different things, I reinstalled the application, clean the OS, etc, but anything :( I was really desperate
Finally, I decided to reinstall the OS to see if there could be something wrong with the Windows installed. And that was the key of the OS has been confused don t I know why, but after the new OS installation (it was a hard way) worked the iTunes
If you can first try reinstalling iTunes, then clean the operating system using CCLeaner and then try again.
If this can't help, then a new install of the OS may be necessary!
