Don't wake mode standby via the mouse or keyboard

Win 7.

My computer is used to wake up the fashion 'sleep' by moving the mouse or touching the space bar on the keyboard.  He is not doing that.  I have to manually push the power button on my laptop.  In the control panel section of properties of the mouse & keyboard 'allow this device to wake computer' is checked.  I have changed something in error?

Thanks in advance... Bob

Hi Bob,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.

I see from the description of the problem that you are unable to wake the computer from standby by using the keyboard or the mouse.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. We are here to help and guide you in the right direction.

To provide the proper resolution, that I would need more information on your side.

You did changes to the computer before this problem?

This problem may occur if the BIOS that is installed on the computer reduced the power of the port to which the input device, is connected if the element of keyboard in Control Panel is not configured to wake the computer when you press a key on the keyboard, if the computer has encountered a problem of system or the sleep button on the keyboard is configured incorrectly.

I suggest to go through the steps from the link provided and check if it helps.

    Hello Orwell,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

You have a Windows 7 installation disc?

As you cannot start your computer at all, I suggest to run a Startup Repair to repair the damaged boot system files and try to boot into normal mode. See the section: How to use Startup Repair in the following link.

  • is there a single mouse driver to carve microsoft ergonomic mouse? The "Mouse and keyboard Centre 2.3" driver/software is not compatible with my other keyboard...

    Hello!

So I went on the microsoft Web site to download the software/driver for my "Microsoft sculpt ergonomic mouse", but is the only driver/software they listed the "mouse and keyboard Centre 2.3", which seems to be for their mouse and keyboard...» I tried to install, but after installation than my other brand non-microsoft (mark i-rocks) 2.4 ghz wireless keyboard Connect is more to his receiver and I am unable to use the keyboard. I tried resynciing and everything but nothing works only as long as this "keyboard and mouse center 2.3" driver/software is installed, so now I have to uninstall that and just use the regular driver for the "microsoft sculpt ergonomic mouse" I have, so I can use my keyboard...

I want to know, is there another older version of mouse only driver/software that I can use with my "ms sculpt ergonomic mosue?  Maybe the latest intellipoint mouse driver would work? What is the latest version and how to find?    or only the "keyboard and mouse Center 2.3" works with this mouse?  so in this case, I have no other choice than to use the generic mouse driver?

Thanks in advance for the help!

    lendbz

I finally thought to it. Apparently, when you install the software/driver "Mouse and keyboard Centre 2.3" for the "mouse sculpt ergonomic microsoft", it will install both the driver for mouse and keyboard correspondence pilot as well, even if I only have the keyboard.  I tried this software even with my old microsoft natural wireless laser mouse 7000 and time that he installed only the mouse driver. I'm guessing that the nano-receiver for the mouse ergonomic sculpt can receive both the ergonomic keyboard and ergonomic mouse? .

If the software installed one "microsoft USB dual receiver Wireless Mouse" under "Mice and other pointing device" in the Device Manager and a "receiver double USB microsoft wireless keyboard' under 'keyboard '.  What I did is simply to go into the Device Manager and uninstalled the driver "microsoft USB receiver double wireless keyboard" and check the box to "delete the driver for this device" so that the keyboard driver will not return and be a pilot and leave just installed microsoft mouse, so now I don't have that the "microsoft USB dual receiver Wireless Mouse" and the generic driver keyboard "HID Keyboard Device" in Device Manager to the the microsoft place unwanted, one, now I can go ahead and install any brand wireless/wired keyboard and the microsoft keyboard driver no longer interfere with it.

Also, for the last 6 months, I could not update my computer windows update feature does not work and no error code is presented. I tried everything to restore or re-download the windows update feature, but nothing works, or I can't find a source. I got a blue screen 3 times indicating that windows must be updated and has been the reason for the blue screen. • loop running only when the mouse or keyboard are active

    Hello

I started a few weeks ago a pretty big VI. Most of the program is included in a large loop. But I feel it's to slow down unnecessarily. So to optimize it, I would like that the VI only works when the mouse or keyboard is acting on it. It would free up the CPU when I do not use it without having to shut it down. I found on the internet how to use the "wait for" to slow down the loop, but in doing so, some parts of the VI that must run in real time also slow down. I think that my idea should be more effective as well for applications in real-time and to free the memory.

Accordingly, how can I ask the while loop to skip to the next iteration only when you press the mouse button or when a field is filled by the keyboard? Or is there an alternative for the while loop?

    Thank you

    Isaac

    Hello

You can check this by using the structure of the event and monitor the activities of the mouse and the keyboard.

I have change a simple VI to show this, please see the attachment.

    6.00 GB RAM

    32-bit operating system

Type of card ATI Radeon HD 3450

Driver update has been installed without any problems.

When my desk top comes out of fashion 'sleep' (using the mouse click), I hear my computer turns (beeps once and can hear the hard drive and fan), but can not get the screen on the monitor to display (rest is black). Can only crash the system to get everything back to normal. I searched in internet and microsoft forums but didn't find a solution. Please help, it seems that many others also have this problem without solution. I like to use "sleep" mode and do not want to resort to turning off the sleep mode option.

    Hello

Please provide information for a better understanding of the issue.

    1. what was the recent change in hardware or software performed on the computer before the question?

    2. are you having the same problem when you Hibernate the computer?

Check the display driver for power management problems.

    Method 1

Check if allow this device to wake the computer is checked in the Device Manager.

    a. click Start, type Device Manager in the start search box and press ENTER.

    b. Select graphics cards, it will display your display driver, right click and select Properties.

    c. Select the power management tab.

    d. check the allow this device to wake the computer check box.

    e. repeat these steps for the network adapters and the mouse as well.

If the problem is not solved then continue to.

    Method 2

Remove both power on your computer and check to see if that fixes the problem.

  • Black screen and mode standby with the message "no signal".

Correctly, it's... kind of weird, I use my computer and the monitor for a year or 2 now and don't never had real problems. The thing is that when I got home last night I found my black screen and standby mode (as if the computer was turned off (which it wasn't)). I thought that the reset will solve the problem, and so I did and didn't get the message "no signal". All tried, reconnecting cables, reset several times I could count... nothing helped for awhile.

At any given time during one of my restarts it reworked all of a sudden no aparent reason. So going on my daily buissiness I want to get back in the saddle, when I accidentally hit the side of my computer with a book and the screen went to 'no signal' again. Just tried again and even used my cell phone to check if the monitor was working,... now comes the weird part,... also on my laptor monitor is having problems with "no signal", but only when I do my main screen. It works as a secondary screen, but I can't get the context in which to work. (finding that I'm guessing that this problem is not related to my normal computer, but I'm not sure).

I am running vista and got a nvidia 8800GT graphics card. Also, I noticed something that is at any time using both the hdmi cable on the graphics card or using the socket with the internal chipset of my computer makes no difference. in both cases, I get "no signal" and the screen goes to sleep... Is there someone who can help me and tell me what probably is the problem here? I'm really looking forward to the answers, thank you very much for your time and effort.

    Hi Ron Suykerbuyk,

If you are comfortable, then try to remove the CPU cover and check if the graphics card is well connected to the motherboard. Even if it is connected correctly, you can try to reconnect the graphics card and check.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • How can I turn off the monitor (e.g., "standby") via the command line at the push of a button (or any other shortcut need not additional software)?

    Hello

I don't like it when, after a break from work on my PC, the screen turns off as set up through "Power Options" in the control panel. That's why I put the relatively high threshold.
However, when I know that I will not need the computer for a while, I want to save energy and wish the mode "sleep" could be activated immediately. Turn off the screen is not an option, because it has a USB hub built-in - off completely would be to unplug any connected device. Usually, if the computer has always works and might need the resources connected.

Ideally, by pressing a button (or start a program or something), the screen would immediately go in mode 'sleep'.

On systems prior to Vista and 7, IIRC, running a command in the sense of:
    Rundll32.exe user32.dll, SendMessage (HWND_BROADCAST, WM_SYSCOMMAND, SC_MONITORPOWER, 2);
would do the trick. The dll should run the command to set the monitor to sleep. We could create a shortcut or even integrate the command in a batch file, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on Vista or 7.

Does anyone have an idea on how to do it on Windows 7?

I would strongly try to avoid having to install any additional software to help me. (There is quite a little all about, even free applications that promise to do exactly that, but I want to avoid them if possible.) "And I can't believe that this basic that could be done on XP cannot act more on 7!).

    Thank you for your help,
    NicApicella

    Hello

Sleep is one thing and switching Off the Display is quite another.

I found a way to turn off the screen in case you don't have a hardware switch or a keyboard shortcut as in my Dell Inspiron laptop (Windows 7).

Create a batch with the following script file:

    echo off

    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-dc 1
    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-ac 1

    START/min/Wait C:\Windows\System32\scrnsave.scr s

    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-dc m1
    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-ac m2

with the idle time to turn off your screen set in the Control Panel, replace m1 and m2.

Control Panel > Power Options > any 'Active' diet Plan > change Plan settings > disable the display setting (minutes).

    For example, in my computer laptop m1 = m2 = 30 and 10.

Now create a shortcut to the batch file and optionally assign a keyboard shortcut and an icon.

    Explanation of the script:

The first two commands sets the idle time Display Off for the minimum possible setting of 1 Minute for the AC and DC (battery) power. The third command put the system mode blank screen saver 'instantly' and / Wait for the screensaver to terminate application. After 1 minute of inactivity, the monitor turns off power completely.
The Saver screen/Wait is over by the event of the reactivation of a movement of the mouse button, the last two lines of code will come back the idle time-out settings of origin defined in the Panel view. This to ensure that after waking up, the display does not Turn off all 1 minute of inactivity expire.

About 1 in 4 times that I try to wake the Tablet, he won't answer. I see the mouse, but the rest of the screen is black. If I press the power button on the side, I get the half screen that says «Drag down to stop...» "but it is not really closed. I can say that it's still plugged in because the screen is a slightly lighter gray until it is completely closed down. The only solution is to hold the volume button and the power button to reset.
