DOUBLE OS ►Windows 7.0 Professional (retail) + XP Professional (retail)

I just bought Windows 7.0 Professional (retail) and also have Windows XP Professional (also retail).

I realize there is an option 'XP Mode' 7.0, but what I would do is have the ability to access the OS.  I build my own computers but I have never installed two operating systems and need some advice on partitions, boot etc. options.  For example, is it possible that I can start in 7.0 and switch to XP without having to reboot?

I reached the minimum requirements (CPU = 2.9 GHz, RAM = 6 GB) and the drive I'll install is a 80 GB Sata.

Thanks for the suggestions, links, tutorials etc.

  • Upgrade to Windows 8.1 Professional

I just ordered a XPS 15 Touch, which has 8.1 Windows 64 - bit English.  I want to upgrade the machine to Windows 8.1 Professional 64 - bit English.  I need to know how to upgrade proeprly.  I have a few questions:

The upgrade is a safe thing to do?

Should I get the upgrade or get a Dell technician to do the upgrade?  What do you recommend?

If I do upgrade myself and you are having problems, can I speak?  Dell or Microsoft?

The upgrade affects my extended warranty?

The upgrade is fairly simple and fast, requiring only a reboot.

Click on start and type "anytime upgrade".  What you need to do is enter your Pro license key, wait a few minutes, then restart.

It will NOT affect your warranty or existing data.

  • Activation of Windows 7 Home Premium Retail Version complete

    Nice day...

I have a question of kwik on my Windows 7 Home Premium Retail Full Version.  I didn't install it since July of 2013.
I bought it in May 2011, brand new at sears.com. During this period of May 2011 - July 2013, I had it installed
on, in total, 3 different offices computers (NOT at the same time... Still, I uninstalled Windows 7, as with all Microsoft OSs, before installing it
    on another system).

In July 2013, I upgraded my motherboard and I had more money I decided to buy another Windows 7
Home version Premium OEM full for this motherboard.  Yes, for a little over a year, I had a 'spare' Windows 7 Home
Premium full retail version disk.  I contacted Microsoft support by phone, chat, e-mail, etc. over the past
year to see if it is genuine.  I have not kept a full track of results, but 'about' just less than
50% of contacted Microsoft experts say that it is authentic and about a little less than 50% say that it is authentic, BUT it must be
activated by phone. Unfortunately, some even said that it was genuine and non-genuine and that it is authentic,
I have to pay about $150 for one year of support.  Who is not called a scam?  The issue is, basically, can I use it

drive for the full retail Version that I bought it like?

It works perfectly, the product key is valid, but half Microsoft agents I spoke on this subject, although they all say that it is authentic, the other half say it is valid, but I have to pay a "tax of support" to activate it.

    Have a great day!

As for the authenticity of the it, Yes, its true, how to use it is another matter. As noted by the above rules, if you have been move to different systems and motherboard, it is used in accordance with the license agreement. • Windows 7 Upgrade vs retail

I think to upgrade my laptop Toshiba Satellite A210 - 1 4 for Windows 7. There are 2 editions available on Amazon Home Premium - upgrade and retail sales. My question is why is the cheapest upgrade disc. I would be able to use to run a clean install on Vista on my laptop?

    Hello

Yes, you should check the Microsoft Web site to understand the difference between upgrade and retail sales.

For version Vista upgrade must be installed and you can t install Windows 7 on a clean HDD without OS upgrade. Vista should always take first place.

Commercial version is the normal version of Windows 7. This means that you can install Windows 7 and remove all other versions. So it s nine and own installation and I would recommend this version.

  • Satellite L650 - upgrade from Windows 7 Home Professional

    Hello

I have the Satellite L650 - 15G with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition. Due to some limitations of this OS, I want to upgrade to Windows 7 professional since I am in Dubai, WAU is not available for me. I called Microsoft and they said I have to get through retailers.

My query is, is it all Toshiba support available in the UNITED Arab Emirates, to upgrade the operating system? Toshiba allow the upgrade through the channel of the where I bought my laptop?

    Microsoft is not good!

    Hello

As much as I know there no support for Toshiba to upgrade the operating system. Only the preinstalled OS will be supported, and some models are available with different versions of Windows.

In any case, I think that Microsoft is right and you will need to purchase a Windows 7 upgrade disk. Using this disk, you can start the upgrade. This should be possible without new installation so that all programs and data will not be erased.

  • Windows 7 install professional help

I want to buy Windows 7 Professional to install on my computer which is now Windows XP Pro SP3. I don't want to lose all my apps, documents, emails etc. so I would really like to do a professional conversion. I don't know how to find a pro that I can trust. I live in the northeast of the PA. Anyone know how to find someone to do it for me? Even though I was a computer geek when I was working I have 9 years retired and did not follow with the field and don't trust myself to do this. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

I want to buy Windows 7 Professional to install on my computer which is now Windows XP Pro SP3. I don't want to lose all my apps, documents, emails etc. so I would really like to do a professional conversion...

Windows Update has nothing to do with upgrading a computer. That being said...

Even if your Windows XP computer hardware can support Win7, it must be a clean install of Win7. This means that you will lose all your third-party currently installed applications & have to install again once Win7 was installed.

You can save your current data, however, and then import the backup to Win7.

However, Win7 does not default mail client. If you have been access your e-mail through Outlook Express, you can install Windows Live Mail desktop from Win7, but it would be quite difficult to import your Outlook Express data to it.

If you have been access your email via MS Outlook, however, you would be able to import the data into Outlook on Win7 computer - at least once you've got Outlook 2007 or a later version (again).

TIP: QVC offers some good deals on computers brand new Win7 for as little as $550 right now. It is likely that it would cost at least $250 to pay someone to upgrade your Windows XP to Win7 computer.  Then there is the cost of purchase of Win7, too!

PS: There may be a school of computer technology near you where you might be able to get the update done Win7 little, if any, cost per student (supervised). Good luck!

  • Windows XP SP3 Professional Edition problems with the Live Essentials tried almost EVERYTHING please help...

I am running Windows XP Professional Edition and have tried almost way possible from almost all of the codes, so that it can install. He always tells me a different code almost as something it must not 'dismantling' MSE. I am not certified has + by all means! But I do not know when you searched for sites Microsoft etc., you are looking for better & learn yourself. But I'm at the point where I say "I wanted I had saved the old Version of the WLE who worked great." Just to give you a clue, which hopefully will help me can govern this list I've done on:

    1. search and read questions from other people who were identical and followed step by step, when I received him seemed to be more common error Code. He said to download update Windows Cleanup Utility and remove everything said Microsoft Live in there. I did this and it just via a different error Code

2 I tried to download directly the WLE "integer" and install it

3 I am the admin. and always "Ran under" admin

4 I watched the system requirements & everything I had was compatible, even if I n "t SQL, but went and downloaded and installed, it

5 I ran in safe mode, and keep in mind that I do every time a cleaning in the place where there is no trace of even the new WLE Installer, b/c I read learned that you cannot leave this trace.

6 and to be honest, I do all this work b/c I think WLE possesses one of the in my opinion, best photo library it y a. quick, simple, but still has all of the improvements that I use direct mail and really liked the MS Outlook 07 connector is what I have right now.

7 I've never seen a free software that is so sensitive that it need to go through all these steps

-Thoughts on any other reasons to help, I would take even the older edition if I could find it, but as soon as I eliminated and did a cleanup & reinstall my hard drive, it hit me. I forgot to record the show and then, think it is free I'll get it online but it has been updated and I need help which is much smarter than me, I will not STOP until I know what and why. BTW, it is not a problem with a firewall or anything b/c I disabled Norton and am MSE tent which was / is child's play, it's not dirty space, but it does the job and it's great and that's why I want the photo gallery for the least and Sync Mail to Outlook.  As I have said that I have nothing else, I know to do, I even tried on another computer running the exact same OPS than mine. And it's the same way. ??? Please help me to get someone...

Thank you very much in advance for any help other than that described previously, or if someone from Microsoft could remotely help me if it is possible.

    -CM-

Hmm. check that you can start the Windows Installer service and it is enabled.

    1. Click Start > run...
    2. Type cmd /K net start MSIServer
    3. Press enter and monitor messages in the window of the console open.

If the service is started successfully, then download the offline version of the WLE from here and try to install it. Select all items to install because they are dependent on each other.
Download the new log file, if it fails to install again.
