DoubleClick the Explorer's right pane always opens a new window instead of in the existing window + fix possible!

Boredom:
In the right pane of file, if you double-click a folder it opens in a new window instead in this window.
It appeared after I installed IE8 and / or play a bit with my startmenu options, but I can't tell if they are really the reason.
All these tips on 'options records' fail miserably in my case.

Here is the real solution for my case:
Open regedit.
Navigate to:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\explore\command]
The default value has been set to:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /separate,/e,/idlist,%I,%L

I changed it to:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/idlist,%I,%L

and then explorer.exe behaved as expected.

Do not mix with the folder option always "open in a separate process", that everywhere else in the registry.

What makes it even more strange, in some cases, you can change it again to:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /separate,/e,/idlist,%I,%L

and the behavior remains as it should.

For admins: because a "weird plain' or a 'system' forum is missing: feel free to sort, where it belongs.

Set

Gotcha for other machines:

Start-> programs-> Accessories-> Command Shell (rightclick-> run as admin)

Regsvr32.exe /s actxprxy.dll

and that it has set for the two other machines.

This tip came from http://www.vistax64.com/vista-general/44439-open-each-folder-its-own-window-bug-2.html#post987175

It was really after installing IE8.
All the machines have in common: Vista64 + Seamonkey mail + http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/ browser (1.1.x is not compatible vista on some points, see http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistanetworking/thread/c8911402-dea6-400b-9978-06ffed629985).
Classic Startmenu, show extensions in Explorer, view hidden in Explorer, UAC and aero active.

Kind regards

  • How can I disable the tab appearance totally new tab when I right click to open a new window?

    Whenever I did a right click on a link in Firefox and select "Open Link in New Window", the new window that opens with TWO tabs: a tab containing the target for the clicked link, another 'New tab' tab that contains icons for sites I don't want and don't care. Even more embarrassing, the 'New tab' tab is the tab, which is active/selected when the new window appears, rather than the tab for the link, I clicked.

    It's very annoying and highly undesirable behavior. When you click on a link and choose "Open Link in New Window", we should get a new window that contains ONLY the information that is displayed for the target of the link. We shouldn't receive TWO tabs.

    How can I get rid of this behavior? I looked for a solution via Google but have not found one.

    I hope that the Mozilla team will fix this problem soon. I use Firefox for a long time and have found that it is a very good browser. However, this new behavior has totally destroyed my good feelings about Firefox.

    Thanks for reading my comments.

    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    Hello

    Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

    Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

  • How to prevent the opening of new windows in firefox? I want ONE INSTANCE ONLY.

    I want to avoid the pop ups, pop unders, etc.. Literally not a single response was appropriate, so I rephrase the question. I want firefox even simply not acknowledge the request to open a new window or tab of the HTML, server, Web site, etc. I don't want to same notify you me, it's not has confirmed the request to open a new window or tab. I NEVER want to see a firefox window or tab or the instance that I have not caused directly via the mouse or the keyboard, and I want it to be COMPLETELY transparent. How do I do that? (I don't like the answer is long or technical).

    Try Tab Mix more.

    The add-on preceding can make some pop-up windows to open in new tabs instead. If you don't want pop - up opens automatically to all, you can set the preference dom.popup_allowed_events to a blank value in Subject: config. You can then open the blocked pop-ups by clicking on the notification icon on the right side of the address bar. You can also allow certain sites to open pop-ups under Options - content - Exceptions.

  • If Firefox is set as the default browser and any application tries to open a new window, it doesn't work and I get the error "Firefox is already in running... »

    Here's what I'm running:
    Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1, fully updated to 04/10/2012
    New installation of Firefox 11. No add-on enabled following troubleshooting.
    I am a user has administrator rights
    SAMU is disabled.

    For starters, this has happened since Firefox 10 or more. A couple of months now.

    I am able to open Firefox. My modules worked (ABP, Flashblock, ABP Element Hiding Helper, IETAB2, Downthemall, Greasemonkey, extension of 4chan) had no problem. Firefox is defined and has been fixed for the past two years as my default browser.

    But since about 10 or so, maybe Firefox before, if I opened a session of Firefox and any other application attempts to open a session in a new window, I get the Firefox is already running but not responding do not error. »

    I tried to follow the advice of already posted troubleshooting (glance to parent.lock files left [no date], several sessionstore.js [no date] files, create a new user profile, has tried to erase the 'read only' permission in windows 7, but as soon as it is cleared, only read permission back.)

    As a last resort, I deleted the Firefox folder, the directory %APPDATA%/Mozilla in its entirety and then used CCleaner to remove all references to Firefox in the windows registry, and then made a complete re - install, without extensions installed right now.

    I checked the preferences and have the option "open new windows in a new tab" checked. The problem persists without worrying if this option is checked or not. This problem persists in or out of safe mode, even with the new facility.

    Test case:

    All cases:
    Firefox is selected as the default browser for windows 7

    Case 1: Log in to firefox. Use any other program that is trying to open a link to their Web site in a new window browser or the new browser session. "Firefox is already running" error

    Case 2: Open a firefox session. Right click on Firefox in the taskbar. Select 'open in new window '. "Firefox is already running" error

    Case 3: Open a session of firefox. Select the Firefox Menu > new tab > new window. In fact, a new window opens.

    This is the only method of opening a new window in the same browser session or profile that actually works on my system. Attempting to open a browser session from the task bar "open new window dialog" or opening a new window while a current window/session is running will not open firefox in a new window or a new tab in the current session. The "Firefox is already running, but is not responding" error will occur every time.

    Make sure that you do not start Firefox with the - No.-remote switch or have defined the MOZ_NO_REMOTE = 1 environment variable (Control Panel > system > advanced > environment variables).

  • Open a new window, draw rectangles in the window and to communicate between the two windows

    I'm going to search for this, but thought I would jump start here in case someone can give me a link or point me in the right direction on how to do while I'm looking.  It is an area of Flex, I've not hit on yet.

    Basically, I need to have my flex (AIR Application) application opens a new window, allows the user to draw a rectangle in this new window and then move the info from the box (X and Y, Width and Height) return to the main window.

    I've never done any of this and I'll try to find out how, but if someone could point me here until I find it online, it would help a lot, kind of in a lack of time... Thank you.

    Sorry I think that I did not read the whole post.

    This is an easy way to get a NativeWindow

    1. create a MXML component based on the window. (I think that the canvas is by default...)

    2. in your main application ( for example..) import the component in my case:

    import com.test.components.SendSMS;

    3. instantiate the component and open it in a new window:

    var mySender:SendSMS = new SendSMS();
    mySender.height = 500;
    mySender.width = 500;

    mySender.open ();

    That's all... with all honesty, im not much away from you in the knowledge of the AIR, but people have been warm here and helped me, so I want to give something back.

    I hope this helps.

  • When I click on the + to open a new window I don't like the images that arise. I tried to change that in all: config; Browser.newtab.URL, but it will not

    When I click on the + to open a new window I don't like the images that arise. I tried several times to change that through words: config; Browser.newtab.URL. I put in the site I want and it won't change. I tried to put in: blank and it don't work. I'm obviously something wrong - can you help please?

    Thank you

    If Firefox is ignorant preference browser.newtab.url, the usual culprit is an extension.

    You can open the page in Firefox Add-ons using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
    • in the Windows "Run" dialog box, type or paste
      firefox.exe "about:addons"

    In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete, if possible) not recognized and unwanted extensions. Do not forget that all extensions are optional, none come with Firefox, and you can learn more about them by checking their reviews on the site of the Add - ons.

    Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

    Any improvement?

  • Firefox is already running but is not responding. The old process of Firefox must be closed to open a new window.

    When I try to open Firefox, I get this message:
    "Firefox is already running but is not responding. The old process of Firefox must be closed to open a new window. »
    I then clicked close firefox, but the problem was solved not so I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, but it's the same thing.
    At this point, I went to support Mozilla and tried the steps described in the article, "Firefox is already running but is not responsible for - How to fix error message", but the firefox.exe process was not in the processes tab in windows Task Manager. While he was in the Details tab, when I tried to put an end to the process, I received this message:

    "The operation could not be completed. Access is denied. "

    What can I do to fix this?

    Thank you.

    Usually when you stop and restart Windows, Firefox is not running and can be started normally.

    Firefox is set to start automatically with Windows? Microsoft has a utility to investigate what is set to happen at startup: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

    It is possible that something is triggering a process in your default browser and it is the hanging of Firefox. You can try to change your default browser to IE (IE can offer to do when you start) before the shutdown and restart Windows to see if it makes a difference.
