  You probably have too much in your Inbox.

  1. Move messages that you see in the user created folders.
  2. OE backup.
  3. Close and open OE.
  4. Compact your folders.

  Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: file | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

  I found the solution. However.
  As Ubuntu does not consider as brain + dead computer (like Bill Gates) users, I could easily navigate through various keyboards available.
  Guess what? I am lucky to have a Dutch keyboard (never seen one before in Holland!)
