Download Manager

I am running windows vista family premium, on a Dell xps 420, when I click on the Download Manager, it says "this file does not have a program associated with it for the execution of this action.create an association in set associations control hell panel.how do I do this?

There are many different download managers available for Vista.  Can you talk (manufacturer, name, version)?  Here are only some of the options: http://www.bing.com/search?q=Vista+download+manager&form=QBRE&qs=n&sk=&sc=3-22.

To set file associations, go to start / default of programs / associate a file or Protocol with a program / and find the type of file or extension that should be associated with the program you are trying to open.  If there is no association or it of the bad association then click on edit and select from the presented list or navigate to the executable file of the program and click it to add it as the associated program.  To do this, you must know the type of file from the Download Manager program and I don't know what it is - maybe do you and then it's how you define the association.

I hope this helps.  Please post back with more information if you need help.

Good luck!

    Hello

I had a peek in on the Firefox Add-ons site download managers and we found quite a few extensions that might help.

Firefox already contains some download management options and these extensions (whether on their own or with others) will expand to this.

I hope this helps, but if you have any other questions please request and we will do our best to help.

The default in Firefox Download Manager began to show strange behavior today: no matter what file I try to download (in the default \download folder or in a folder chosen by me) is actually downloaded by the browser, but the file download status bar always a message "unknown time remaining" while being entirely green (https://www.dropbox.com/s/n891ya38ifm83c3/Cattura%20di%20schermata%20%284%29.png?dl=0).

I tried to disable the antivirus (bitdefender), but the problem persisted. Chrome downloads work fine (as with active antivirus).

It's the b9 32.0 and it has been fixed and will be in the build 32.0 then, probably the RC1 build 32.0 if normally such a fix would be a beta version as 32.0b10. The release is Tuesday next so little time. From topic: config you can try to change the empty value of browser.safebrowsing.appRepURL in the meantime.

  • Download Manager stops when I turn off Firefox

I have tried twice now; It didn't used to be like that. I have a current download. When I disable the Firefox, the download ends, too. My version is Firefox 24. How can I keep the download? Thanks for your help.

The default is to pause a download and resume the download automatically the next time.

You can set the pref browser.download.manager.quitBehavior to 2 on the topic: config page.

That will make Firefox asks for confirmation if you want to cancel the download when you close Firefox.

How can I plan a download to occur at some point? I have Hughes Download Manager, but am unable to intervene in the download process. Hughes said that the parameters have to be adjusted in Firefox or window, but I do not see where or how. Thank you.

Firefox doesn't have the parameters like that. You need to install an external Download Manager which has a "timer".

-How/where can I set the value of browser.download.manager.quitBehavior?

The new version is fine, but I don't know why you would do this change. This is no logic coming from Firefox because I think it's you guys who presents the Download Manager window. Anyone who uses Firefox knows that when you close the window, the downloads remain... at least until now. Maybe an option during installation?

I, as well as others I know not switched back to Firefox from Chrome due to latency issues, but I'm sure that many of your users is returned to Chrome or IE misfortune because of this problem.

You can set the pref browser.download.manager.quitBehavior to 2 on the topic: config page.

That will make Firefox asks for confirmation if you want to cancel the download when you close Firefox.

  • Some options have disappeared, and download manager does not appear on every night. Help?

Hello. I'll try to make it as short as possible. I'm under the program every night. Currently I have version 21, which came out today. But since last week, with the 20 version, I noticed something. Whenever I downloaded something, tried to open the Download Manager, or press Ctrl + J, the Download Manager, we all know did not appear. Instead, the 'library' appears. I don't want to see the library, because it is not 'pretty' as a normal Download Manager. In addition, under Options, under general, downloads, the ability to select where to save the files is missing. Under Security, I don't see my saved passwords. Why all these things "missing"? I did something I wasn't supposed to? Is - will this work for an addon? I left my information below for you everything you need to know. Please, help me?

The library is where downloads are now displayed. The 'normal' downloads window disappeared for several weeks now in every night. BTW, there's a new toolbar (arrow pointing down) button in the Palette for downloads; It has a "door hangers" which shows the current downloads on the slider "stationary."

This is the main "issues" on the left side of the Library window.

  • Firefox Download Manager reacts unexpectedly.

I can't download the files correctly using the default Firefox Download Manager. The affected extensions are:

     1. Download Status
     2. Download Statusbar
     3. DownThemAll (although since this doesn't interfere with the default, I don't see what this might have to do. Included for completeness).

    Now to the problem:
Firefox displays the weird behavior every time as downloading a file:

     1. The download completes, and it keeps scanning the file with an antivirus for indefinite periods (it never ended so far) even with tiny text files.
     2. During this period of antivirus checking, if I download another file, the old one gets magically deleted.

I'll disable add-ons relevant and post back the results.

See "Antivirus disable in Firefox preferences - Windows."

Try to set this pref to false on the topic: config page.

    System: Windows XP

I am trying to reactivate the display, or to remember the list of downloaded files in the Download Manager window. I want to be able to drag and drop directly from this window into a folder of my choice. (I used to be able to do this, but apparently I missed that...)

I tried the suggestions that could easily be found, including Firefox to remember the whole story in the privacy of the upgrade Options tab in.

I have also deleted the mimeTypes.rdf file to 'reset' the values default to the browser, but in vain.

    Any ideas/help?

    Thank you.

    Well, it's fixed.

The problem seems to be a plugin obsolete, probably the previous version of the Adobe Reader software.

    All is well now.
