Satellite A200 - Patch Tuesday off my Trackpad

When I opened my laptop this morning, I found my trackpad doesn't work anymore. I could plug a mouse and it works fine, but does not have the trackpad (even after pressing Fn + F9 several times to activate it).

I checked update history and saw that Vista tried to install the + Synaptics - Input - Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad + last night and didn't - even if further examination shows he tried to install this particular update for these last two weeks or more, and my trackpad worked great until this morning.

Check the Device Manager, under + mouse and other pointing devices + I only have a + HID-compliant mouse + and less + Human Interface Devices + I have only one + USB Human Interface Device + - and these two correspond to the external mouse, I plugged, because they disappear when I disconnect it.

I downloaded the drivers for it (+ ALPS-pointing-device - Driver7.0.301.4 +) from the Toshiba page for my model, but I get a message from installation failed when I try and install them.

For the record, I run the stock installation of Vista (without SP1 or SP2) at Toshiba.

Any ideas?

Hello

Have you tried to uninstall the new version of touchpad driver that has been installed?
So in your case, I remove and restart the laptop. After that, you can install the latest version from the Toshiba page:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

After that your touchpad should rework and look at what this update will not be installed more.
But you can udpate your Vista SP1 or SP2. Normally the installation of MS does not affect the drivers.

    Hello

In most cases, the blocked cooling modules are the reason for the higher temperature and why the laptop turns off automatically.
You could clean the vents and cooling fans with a jet of compressed air.
This would remove the dust inside the laptop.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A200 keeps turning off

    Hi people.
I too have a satellite A200. It is about 2 years old and keeps the decommissioning. Sometimes it turns off if physically moved - for example from a tower in a table. Sometimes it connects again once you put it in hibernation/standby mode by quickly pressing the power button. When I try and start it again in another quick, press the power button, nothing happens about half the time. In this situation when the laptop is in mode 'sleep' the only way to switch is again by removing the battery and then start again. Then it comes up with an error message about an improper closing of windows, giving you the possibility of opening in Mode safe. You lose nothing as you work, so it's a real pain.

It disappeared twice for repair, but they can't find the problem so I did a Google search and found this forum. It would be good to know more than all expertise - especially to Toshiba.

If the laptop turns off automatically, then this can be linked to a higher temperature in most cases but not always, this is the reason.
Dust or debris clogged the ventilation openings, which leads to a higher temperature.

In addition, the dry thermal grease which is placed between the CPU and the cooling module can be that the reason for this in such a case, the thermal paste should be renewed

It's certainly a job for a technician for laptop

To answer last post by PauPau of the thread:

    (1) Hi PauPau, 1st of all thank you for your response.
    (2) I think that you only read (or understand) 10 words of my post. I of course said that + I * was * of course, this problem is caused by overheating. +
    (3) maybe you're right, maybe, I don't am not applied tech for laptop, but if you think that someone who can disassemble their own laptop for cleansing the air duct, or change the thermal paste itself or upgrading all laptops parts itself as a tech literate notebook, so I don't know who else is.

In fact, I am a COMPUTER professional who is very literate with PC and Notebook Hardware/Software troubleshooting. I did that for about 10 years since high school. So yes, I know that not only all of the brand, but most of the computers (PC & Notebook) will react this way to overheat. The problem is, I already look at the temperature of my CPU, and I know that the correct behavior is a system automatically extinguish itself to avoid damage caused by each time will overheat the scope of heat one * certain * level, which, in a system of this level is still manageable. But in this case, it happens randomly.

I repeat once again, it happens * RANDOMLY *. Sorry to be a bit much, I want to just make sure I'm clear. I'm sure we all will really appreciate a solution or at least of any attempt to examine more in detail on this issue.

    Best regards

    Hi dude

Thanks for the comments. He appreciated s.

    > maybe you're right, maybe, I don't am not applied tech for laptop, but if you think that someone who can disassemble their own laptop for cleansing the air duct, or change the thermal paste itself or upgrading all laptops parts itself as a tech literate notebook, so I don't know who else is.

It s not necessary to disassemble what whether to clean the fans and cooling grids, a jet of compressed air can be used.
These aerosols can be bought from the other computer dealers.

But of course, this procedure can be used only to remove dust and debris.
If the laptop overheats, for different reasons, then a certified maintainer Toshiba should be contacted.

Is that not a laptop overheating.
If this problem still persists after removing dust, then it should consider if this is not a hardware problem. Right?
Well, in such cases, it is always difficult to say what could be the problem until the pieces of equipment have been verified. Right?
So I t see any other solution as to contact a technician and asking for an audit of the material.

  • Satellite A200 will turn off by itself continuously

    Hello

I have a problem with my laptop because it stops itself constantly, having used internet for 30 minutes, or immediately after launching a major program like photoshop or autocad or a game.

I spotted that it also runs very hot fast in a few minutes could be related? What could be the problem?

    Hi mate.

Quest - what? I think I know what could cause this problem.
I think that it s associated with high temperature. The CPU and the GPU create a lot of heat while running a powerful software (app chart, games, etc.).
Eventually, the cooling modules can cool the CPU because of dust.

Remove dust from the cooling fans and the grids using a jet of compressed air.
This tool is very useful and can be bought from different merchants online.

  • After HDD Exchange Satellite A200-1YW began to turn off

    Hello!
I have a problem with Toshiba Satellite A200-1YW.
After changing the hard drive (company), I've had my laptop repaired, but the next day it started to turn off the laptop connected to the power. When the battery isn't far away, or when it is plugged in the bios...

    someone help? ...

PS. I don't know if it's a good notation sorry
PS Sorry for the mistakes but I am Polish and I don't know the English:)

Hmmm... the whole thing is strange.
Is that Exchange HARD drive should not have a negative influence and do not reason for these downs taps. I did it many times on different models and I ve never noticed anything like that.

In my opinion there must be another reason.

What Miss me in your first assignment is exact explanation when this happens exactly.
When the operating system will be loaded or later?

  • Re: Satellite A200 turns off

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200. After 12 months of owning in, its has started to turn off his car, then does not supply power for some time, before giving up the ghost completely!
I tried a new AC adapter and battery, but no joy, I have read it could be the power supply? Is this a case of buying a new one and soldering in place?

    Thank you very much

    Adam

    Hello Adam

You must understand that it is not easy to tell if this happens due to power or other reasons. Have you noticed that laptop rest without power (all LEDs are off)?
Maybe your laptop overheats and shuts down. What do you think about this?

  • Satellite A200 - 1 M 8: the monitor shuts off and cannot back up to Vista

    Hello

I have the Satellite A200 - 1 M 8 with original Vista. Sometimes, I have some problems with the display (I have the latest drivers).
The monitor turns off (not as usual but it is gray instead of black) applications flow normally (I hear the music of film, this) but I can't get back into windows.

When I push button hibernation and I try to go back to windows, I see the blue screen then the computer resets.

It happens very often and is really frustrating because my internet disconnects and downloads.

I don't think that the temperature is too high because I think it's cool. How to fix this?
Maybe some graphics settings or new BIOS?

Please help me. I can't stand it!

  • Satellite A200 - loses the battery, switch off the power

I have a relatively old Satellite A200, yet almost all inside is new except the battery. The battery has a very short life, but that's because its old. Recently the computer started to suddenly lose the battery, so the charge light stays on, the battery light turns off and the battery icon said "plugged in, not charging." However, the computer still work on battery power. If I see it at the time, then by removing and replacing the charger repeatedly, I can start it load again, but if I am not it switches off without warning. Since the battery life is now less than a minute which often.

I don't think that the problem is with the charger because it always shows the charger is plugged in, and when the computer is off the battery light is always on when it is plugged. I had a problem with the power connector, but if the motherboard was recently replaced so I don't think that's it either.

If someone could help it would save me a lot of frustration, thank you.

    Hello

At first, I must say that you should not be frustrated. Problems with consumer products are normal, and each of us has problems with laptops, televisions or other electronic product.

Let's see what you can do about it.
Your description is OK, but what I want to know is follow:
When you remove the battery can work on your laptop with no problems (start work, cut)?

I also think that the battery is too old and I presume it's troublemaker in the history. It is not easy to explain what behavior flashing if you have a defective hardware or old coin inside.

Maybe, you need to buy the replacement of the battery and check the features for laptop and the battery, just to see if everything will be OK again. If you will be faced with the same problem again then we can discuss what may be the problem.
In my opinion only a reason for this could be electronic power supply.

    What do you think?

  • Satellite A200-1FL randomly turns off

    Hello

I have the problem that after I moved from the Spain to the Thailand now my Toshiba Satellite A200-1FL randomly turns off.
This only seems to happen when it is connected with AC - with battery I have it is not happened again although I can't rule out it.

After some time of work (sometimes only 10 minutes, sometimes up to 2 hours) the laptop just shuts off-as if I would unplug the unit without the battery inserted. It is certainly not an overheating problem because the CPU is at 55º c most of the time (a year before the cpu fan was dirty and he has sometimes increased to 90º - but which caused no stops).

I don't know about electricity here in Thailand - but it seems 220V and they do not use the Earth (at least at the point where I am).
I use the original Toshiba AC adapter.

What could be the problem here - is there any solution or the solution to this problem?

    Thanks for any help,
    vitaminx

    Hey,.

As stone I n not know electricity of the Spain and Thailand, but if you have only this problem with the AC adapter / CC, there are a few differences between the Spain and the Thailand.

In your case, I will ask the local authorized maintainer in Thailand. For example just give them a call and ask a technician for help. I'm pretty sure, they can give you an answer if you need a new power supply or another outlet.

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite A200: no mode 'sleep' and ignores switch screen off time.

I recently bought a Satellite A200. It does not have a 'sleep' mode and power settings do not seem to work. for example, I put the screen turns off after x minutes and he ignores it.

    Any help gratefully accepted.

You have a series of European Satellite A200 If Yes, then I don't know if the 0 button would recover your m system
The recovery CD would be necessary in your case.

But by pressing 0 and using the recovery CD would be to format the HARD drive. So in both cases the data backup would be necessary.

  • Satellite A200 - new card Wlan (Intel 5300) = Wlan led is always OFF

    Hello world

I have recentlly bought a new card WLAN Intel 5300 (533AN_MMW) for my Satellite A200 - 1 CG (PSAE3E...). I installed a new card without any problems, downloaded and installed new drivers (Win7) also.
The problem is that the Wlan led does not illuminate any. So I don't see the card functions normally in the Device Manager, but cannot establish a wireless connection because the Device Manager indicates that the WLAN switch is turned off.

    Help!

    Kind regards

    Dear Igor

Can you please tell us what A200 you exactly (A200-xxx) so that we can check the Toshiba for Win7 download page?

  • Satellite A200-13 M - black screen and will not turn off

    Hello

I just bought a * Satellite A200 13 M *. In the first market, Windows Vista seems to be properly installed and worked to internet (wifi) access. The Norton program has been updated, and I could download and install OpenOffice. However, as OpenOffice had reported a small amount of disk space available (55 GB) I tried to see the hard drive in the browser.

I clicked on Control Panel and waited to open. At this point, the arrow of the mouse has frozen. After awhile, I tried Ctrl, Alt, Del, and the system asked if I wanted to stop. I did, and a new screen has announced that Windows is being closed. This screen froze then in turn. I waited for a while and then tried to turn it off with the switch. The screen went black.

However, the blue light comes on, the fan is still running, but I nothing seems to wake up the machine. I called the service of maintenance of the shop, I bought from (Darty), but they are overloaded and said they'd call me in a couple days (!). Is there anything I can do in the meantime that would allow me to continue to work with the machine.

    Thank you

    Tim Mason

    Strange sounds! But it's a computer and sometimes, these machines don't {color: #ff0000} {color} strange things ;)

Anyway... try to remove the battery from the laptop and unplug the power adapter.
Wait about 20-30 min and connect everything again.

Then try turning on the laptop computer. If it is not a serious problem, the laptop must again!
