  I just installed windows 7 on my laptop and my desktop computer. My laptop works 100% fine without any problem at all. However my office is struggling to download updates via both windows update and to Microsoft essentials security.

  The State of windows update is still ' Windows is downloading updates (all 0%). "and never changes.
  Microsoft security essentials tray status is 'Check updates', and when I restore the window it says "search...". ", but no progress beyond this point. The MSE has only been going on for about a day now, but the Windows update thing has happened since pretty close to the installation.
  I don't know if that helps, but initially I think downloading an update, then remained in the thing of locking system, to the "installation 1 of 4 do not unplug the computer" for 8 to 10 hours, so at that point, I had to disobey microsoft and reset the computer.

  I guess that part of the question could be a driver which is really old or similar should not be loaded.

• Download timer estimate not updated until the file is made of 7/8, size of the file not considered and corrupt downloads!

  Sometimes when I download a file of the estimator download will not update until that file is downloaded about and made. It didn't happen in the previous versions, I think somewhere around v15? or whenever the new download manager has been implemented.

  The initial problem was no audio sound on CD.  The computer had other system sounds.  I uninstalled the Realtek drivers and downloaded from the website computer and reinstalled.  Still the same problem. I tried to adjust the volume control and clicked the speaker at the bottom on the right bar.  I got a message saying there is no mixer device and the small speaker disappeared and reappeared even after several reboots.  There is also an error "no audio device".

  The data is not "hostage." Pull the disk and put it in a box disc or it slave to a working computer and retrieve the data. If you don't have an additional computer you will need to borrow a friend or with the machine at a tech. You can also try the o with a Linux Live CD boot. I like Knoppix, but there are others. This has two advantages: 1) if the system works, you can back up all the data that missed your last backup; and (2) with the machine running Linux allows to determine whether the problems are caused by software or hardware. If the machine is unbearably slow and/or Linux cannot run correctly, you know that the hardware is at fault. If the machine behaves perfectly under Linux, you know that the software (Windows) is at fault.

  Whatever you do, do not install Windows without test material. If the hardware is at fault, software solutions like reinstalling Windows will be unnecessary. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  I have a BlackBerry product which is usually done by the visitors on a device running OS 4.5. At some point in the application, a screen is locked so that no component can be updated by the user while the application waits for a response from the server process. Once a response is received, the application retrieves a value of response burden and updates one of the editable fields progammatically (but it is still not editable by the user).

  It worked on 4.5 as I have said, but a customer tried this on a device using 4.6 and the field is is more updated. I don't know if the fact you can update a field by programming even when the field was not editable was originally a bug that has been fixed at 4.6 or if there is another way to achieve this.

  My current thinking on this is to temporarily mark the element as editable after receiving a response from the server, update the field, then turn it off again. It smells really bad and I wonder if there is a better way to approach this problem. Any thoughts?

  I don't think the editable flag has any influence on changes programmatically, in other words, you can together make a "setText" on fields that are not editable.

  I would look first for a change in the treatment of communication which means that the field is NOT updated due to other errors.

  Select ROWID along with the fields you need and update the table using this rowid.
  Alternatively, if you have the primary key (or another single key), you can use for the update.

  You can always use the clause for update, for which locks the rows you want to update.
  Just do not update using WHERE CURRENT OF.

• I manually extracting download folder downloads, help please, my downloads tab is not updated?

  I replaced the broken Samsung 1 TB of HDD in my T500 with a 1 TB WD drive and restored the laptop of my latest backup (restore and recovery). After that everything seemed OK and promising until I realized that the Windows Update client and system update were not able to connect to their corresponding update servers or not able to actually look for updates.

  It took me a while to find an answer and a solution for the problem of Windows Update:

  The Samsung drive had the size of logical sector of 512 bytes, and the size of 512-byte physical sector. However, WD has now logical alternative but 4 k disk size physical sector of 512 bytes. Given that customer Windows Update (Windows 7 x 64 BTW) uses a database of local physics based on the logical sector size could play a role.

  The solution I found was to replace the SATA driver installed by the last RAID Intel rapid storage driver. This corrected some WRT question for sector sizes THAT NTFS is reported to the operating system. And this fixed the problem of Windows Update. Since then, the machine can connect and get Windows updates from Microsoft Windows Update servers again.

  Unfortunately, the fast RAID storage driver installation has not fixed the problem with the system update. Whenever I run the system update it invites me to machine type model, OS and language, and after that, I get the error message

  "The server system is currently unavailable. Please try again later. »

  When I use a second Thinkpad T61 or an old T40 at the same time and run the update system on these machines they are still able to connect and retrieve a list of available updates.

  I know that I could solve the problem by returning to a 1 TB drive with the physical sector size of 512 bytes, or probably a complete reinstallation of Windows 7 hard disk WD.

  So the obvious question is: is there anything else I could do?

  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling system update without success.

  Hi, as I wrote in my first post I already tried your solution without success. System update was not even able to connect to the servers it is (or just showed this error for some reason any). However, I looked at the latest version of the update system released in October (v5.00.0019) and I have replaced v4.03.0012 with that one. And Yes - this time back to normal operation. Thus, TVSU v5 fixed somehow the problem even a never version v4 TVSU wasn't able to fix. The cause of this disorder is still unknown. Best regards, Ralf

  However when I edit a contact on my Pre (a Google Contact)... The change is on my phone but it does not sync to Google...

  I do not want (or think I should) have to change the contacts in both places...
