T500 receives do not update via update system after Exchange of hard drive

Hello forum,.

I replaced the broken Samsung 1 TB of HDD in my T500 with a 1 TB WD drive and restored the laptop of my latest backup (restore and recovery). After that everything seemed OK and promising until I realized that the Windows Update client and system update were not able to connect to their corresponding update servers or not able to actually look for updates.

It took me a while to find an answer and a solution for the problem of Windows Update:

The Samsung drive had the size of logical sector of 512 bytes, and the size of 512-byte physical sector. However, WD has now logical alternative but 4 k disk size physical sector of 512 bytes. Given that customer Windows Update (Windows 7 x 64 BTW) uses a database of local physics based on the logical sector size could play a role.

The solution I found was to replace the SATA driver installed by the last RAID Intel rapid storage driver. This corrected some WRT question for sector sizes THAT NTFS is reported to the operating system. And this fixed the problem of Windows Update. Since then, the machine can connect and get Windows updates from Microsoft Windows Update servers again.

Unfortunately, the fast RAID storage driver installation has not fixed the problem with the system update. Whenever I run the system update it invites me to machine type model, OS and language, and after that, I get the error message

"The server system is currently unavailable. Please try again later. »

When I use a second Thinkpad T61 or an old T40 at the same time and run the update system on these machines they are still able to connect and retrieve a list of available updates.

I know that I could solve the problem by returning to a 1 TB drive with the physical sector size of 512 bytes, or probably a complete reinstallation of Windows 7 hard disk WD.

So the obvious question is: is there anything else I could do?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling system update without success.

Best regards

Ralf

Hi, as I wrote in my first post I already tried your solution without success. System update was not even able to connect to the servers it is (or just showed this error for some reason any). However, I looked at the latest version of the update system released in October (v5.00.0019) and I have replaced v4.03.0012 with that one. And Yes - this time back to normal operation. Thus, TVSU v5 fixed somehow the problem even a never version v4 TVSU wasn't able to fix. The cause of this disorder is still unknown. Best regards, Ralf

  • HP Pavilion 17-e119wm: reinstall Windows 10 operating system after replacing the hard drive

Hello, I bought a laptop HP Pavilion year last for work or school. He perfectly managed until yesterday when it was freezing to close unexpectedly. Waited about half an hour to see if it would work himself, I had several programs running at the same time. With no results, I did a hard shut down and left for about two hours. Trying to turn it back on, I was stuck on the HP Home screen for almost an hour. I turned off the and tried again. Sometimes I would be stuck on the startup screen, and sometimes he would show that he was about to auto repair, then the screen turns off. In addition, the recovery menu of the system through the F11 key did not work, so I did a Quick Test of system and received a short Drive DST hard failure.

I plan to buy a replacement HGST 5 K 1000 1 TB hard Drive from the manufacturer; However, my warranty expired last month, and I'm not sure how to reinstall the OS (installed with Windows 8.1 then upgraded to Windows 10 factory), once the new hard drive in place.

I've never done a HP system recovery Image, and I'm low on funds, so I'm not able to contact HP directly. Help, please. I am a student and I work from home, so I am at a loss without my system.

If you want to reinstall Windows 10, then this is the part the more easy and free.  I understand, completed after the upgrade to Windows 10, then you can clean install Windows 10 site M$.

On a work computer, go to the WINDOWS 10 DOWNLOAD, scroll down to the purple 'Download tool now 64 Bit' click that to let do its thing.  On the next screen, choose 'Create the installation media for another PC', then what kind of media you want to use DVD or USB flash.  Once created, install Windows 10 on the PC in question - when everything that fact it is activated.

Hey guys, lately my HARD drive goes down, during the factory restore. I install a new blank HDD in your computer now. I can see my old HARD drive recovery disk, but cannot get it back.

I have finished the form of recovery disk, but my warranty expired a few months ago as :( I have the product key that came with my cpu, which is window 7 Home premium. You can perform a new installation using a .iso from Digital River and the program ABR:

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) (including free evaluation versions are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself.) If NIS has been installed for 3 years, you have NIS update at least once and maybe twice (e.g., NIS 2009 > NIS 2010 > NIS 2011).

[You may want to print these instructions for reference offline. If a step said to reboot, reboot.]

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate and everything Norton Add ons) viaControl Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).

4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!

    5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    6. do a clean install of NIS 2011 (using your product ID, if need be) & reboot. CF. http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN

NOTE: Do NOT activate or install additional modules of Norton (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

    7. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate (Norton) until you get a prompt "no update more".

    8. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 & run the difficulty.

    9. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & run that set it by DEFAULT and modes and AGGRESSIVE. [1]

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

  • System Restore to factory settings after replacing the hard drive?

I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre A52, which recently required a change of hard disk and the removal of a defective RAM 1 GB stick. When I bought my computer, it came with Windows XP Pro and the new hard drive that the updated computer has Windows XP Pro, but it seems to be missing a large part of the software (drivers and programs) that originally came with the computer, and even if I downloaded and installed most of them since the Lenovo Web site There are still some problems related to software that I can't fix. Ideally, I'd like to go back just to restore the system to the factory settings using the ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery program, but I don't know if it will work. All programs and the necessary drivers will be installed again, even if my current hard drive is not 'knows' thereon? I need to get a Windows XP Pro installation CD, if I want to keep my operating system? Also, is it important that my current hard drive is half the previous, or that I now have half as much RAM?

    Thank you

After replacing the hard drive, the only way to restore it to the State of the plant is using the Lenovo installation diskettes. You can also ask if Lenovo has a solution to your problem without having to reinstall Windows.

You can download Lenovo drivers if they are not included on the installation disk. The size of your hard drive does not matter.

I bought the 1 TB Seagate as a backup and an upgrade, but I plan to go back now that there is nothing more than a big black Clipboard with a green LED clear too much room. What can I do about it?

    Hello

Most likely, there is not enough power for the USB port of your machine to the external device do recognize. As a test I would have you test the issue on another USB plug.

I recommend you contact you either OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) or the manufacturer of the motherboard if it is a machine of casting House and get the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard.

Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly

  • reinstalling the system on a new hard drive

Looks like a common problem that the original HDD Samsung die a premature death. I started to receive warnings of 301 SMART several months ago, but my HP dv6 kept operating normally until this week. Now it does not start, then it's time for a new HARD disk. I thought I was fully prepared, as I had spared him all my work on an external drive, had a new beautiful drive HARD fast to install and had my hand recovery disks. After you run the recovery discs, I'm stuck. New HARD drive does not start, and I can't do what whether the HP Recovery console offers me on its menu. Windows recovery is also stuck as there is no previous image recorded on this new album.

Looking at the new HARD drive, I see that the HP recovery disks were formatted only 60 GB, sort of a mini recovery partition and nothing else. When I try to restore the image, him refuses to HP recovery with the message Console, this drive is smaller than the original.

Can someone tell me how to work around this problem with recovery disks, or how I might just do a clean install of Windows 7 without having to buy a new installation disk purely and simply? HP does not provide a Windows disk with this computer.

New HARD drive, I would like to install: Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hello

Recovery discs often have problems reinstalling the operating system if the new HARD drive is lower than installed when they were initially created.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the activation code on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery process, it is a job before right around if you have (or can borrow) a Windows 7 retail installation disc is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it comes to version exact commercial that you would need.

If you don't have access to a retail disk, you can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

Additional drivers, you may need to find from here.

    Hello everyone,

I need help on a problem.

I had to replace the hard drive on my g6-1130sl Pavillion and now I want to restore my system from 4 DVD backup created with recovery system until my hard drive was broken.

I downloaded from the servers of HP drivers and software available for my PC but I could not install HP Recovery Manager on the new hard drive because it gave me this error: "Softpaq does not apply to the system, without HP Recovery Manager installed.

Is there someone who can help me solve this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help

    Hey there!

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I understand that you can not restore your PC by using the restore disks.

It seems that you did not follow the process of creating media recovery or data backup process.

If you are unable to restore the image by using the discs.

Please use this link to find out how to create a recovery media: http://hp.care/2byIEKi

However, you can contact HP and get a set of system recovery disks.
