Download of existing Web site from the remote server to Dreamweaver CC 2015

I need to download a website, designed originally in 2002 using MS FrontPage and more recently managed using MS Expression Studio 4 Web Professional, from my server to my computer using hosting service newly installed Dreamweaver CC 2015.

I've never used Dreamweaver before, and information online using Dreamweaver is apparently to date with the latest version of Dreamweaver.  So far, everything I've tried has failed for one reason or another.  To be precise, because of a problem computer I lost the local version of my Web site that has been stored on my computer.  Later, I created an empty folder on my computer and tried to connect with the remote service hosting server so that I can download my Web site, but nothing works.  I get error messages in one way or another, right from the beginning and nothing on my computer screen is in agreement with the steps indicated, "using Dreamweaver / connect to a remote server" instructions that I downloaded on the Web.

I need detailed instructions, step by step, how to connect to the server and upload my site on my computer.  The instructions must be compatible with what is actually happening using Dreamweaver CC 2015.  I'm new to Dreamweaver and have no experience with it.  And Microsoft no longer supports Expression Studio, it is virtually impossible for me to reinstall it on my computer.

Connect to your remote server by adding in your FTP credentials during the process of site definition (user name, password, root folder and to the address of the server). You get this info from your host and save it in your site settings in the Site > Manage Sites > click the site > Edit > servers (hit the + to create a new server if you have not already).

To connect to your server once the info has been added to the Site definition, open the files window (window > files, or F8 if it is not open), and then click the Connect button (icon). You can then hit the expand button (icon of two places) to see a representation next to your files the and remote. Click the Get button (down arrow) to download all files available the folder root of your site on your local computer.

As I mentioned earlier, you have still questions whether FrontPage extensions have been used on the site. Who are the property of FrontPage and is not something that you can work with out of Dreamweaver. So, if you have determined that a redesign is out of the question, or not, may be irrelevant. You may have to, or find an old copy of FrontPage somewhere, in order to continue to work with your site in the way you could before.

Define a local site folder.  Site > new Site.

    Enter your FTP login.

In the extended files (F8) - illustrated here Panel, click the arrow to GET the files from the remote server.  Use the arrow up to local files to the server.

  • CS6-best way to transfer/replace an existing Web site from one domain to another domain?

I don't know there is a quick and easy way to do and a way to really cause me a lot of unnecessary work.

Here are the facts. I have all my work files and the folder of the DW site to a folder on hard drive for my MAC at the location has. I am downloading and display (my test site) domain A, live. This was done as a site of 'test' for a client that I have built their new site, leaving their site of origin on 'their' area B, as it is, intact. I had also designed their site of origin and is in another place on my hard drive MAC, downloaded on their domain B. Now, I'm done, approved and ready to replace their old site with the new (which is on my test domain) to their domain B.

I have both on my server, DNS correctly directed. It's just a swap and download problem and proper placement of the file to local file number.

I think I can just do a "file" in a new location for the new files to site B on my HD and make a copy of everything from the work test site (a) files (on my MAC HD). Where I have the files of the site now, it's not where I eventually wanted to have them (instead of being put in the client's file). Then open and appoint a new site in DW and direct them to the 'new' copied / location of the files in the new Web site files. If this theory is correct, should I delete the old site on domain B (server), so when I upload the new site it updates only the new files on the customer site, fresh and clean? Do not add all (both) sites to their directory of the domain.

What worries me, it's you I have a problem with new site "copied" (in their new location on my HD) falsely files without forgetting the former path of the former location of test file on my drive? I guess just that all the hundreds of missing links to redirect if there is a problem. As I hinted above, the files all will go to the new local location if my new site points to this new folder?

I think that somewhere, I learned the relative and absolute links. All files are in the folder of the site relative to this site folder? So no problem if I rename or move the folder? I guess that's my question to link. What DW did exactly and I have to take account when do you what has to offer.

The test site, as I suppose, will remain simply a duplicate that is now developing, until I clean/remove files in this area has?

I don't mean to make things complicated, but I bet there's a correct procedure to do fast and clean. Sorry if I made a mess of it, but I'm having a hard time putting it into words!

    Thank you

    ~ Dan

No need to duplicate the files.  Change your Site definition settings and change the remote server for the domain of the client.  Connect to a remote server to the client, download the new files to the site.  Fact.

  • Hello. Is it possible to remove a web site from the list "most visited"? If so, how?

I doubt, there is a way to do it, but I would like to know for sure. I connect to Gmail very often, so of course, it appears in the list of "most visited". Although he is usually a convenience for people to reach a web site visited often faster, I want is not to appear there. It's not favorite, where you must choose to save a site, so I doubt that there is a solution. If I had used "Private browsing" in the first place, this may have prevented my problem, but I didn't know we could go private until today. Thank you.

If it's a bookmark, then you need to reset the counter for this bookmark.
You can make the column number of visible in the bookmarks (library) via the menu Manager ' views > columns.

    • "Most Visited" and "Recently set bookmark" and "Recent Tags" are examples of what is called Smart Bookmarks folders and are not the real existing folders.
    • Smart folders show a list created by a query of the places.sqlite database that stores the bookmarks and history in Firefox.
    • Smart folder lists show a maximum of 10 entries by default.
    • Bookmarks and history items that appear in a list of smart folder are also stored in another file, and any changes are applied to the element of bookmark or true story.
    • If you delete an entry then the list is shifted upward and an entry that was not previously identified is added to show the 10 entries.
    • If you add a new bookmark or visit a Web site, then a new element is added at the top and disappears from the entrance at the bottom of this list.
    • Objects but that disappear from the list have not disappeared, just not more appear in this list.
    • Actions such as copy & paste, or delete that you perform on bookmarks in such a list is made on the original bookmark.
  • I want to be able to add and remove Web sites from the drop-down list

I have a few addresses of websites on my drop down menu I want to delete and I want to add. How do I thias?

You can only remove entries in the location list bar that are not favourites by pressing the DELETE key on a highlighted entry.

Otherwise, such a bookmark link reappear if you revisit the site, or if there is always a visit counter.

Bookmarks have a yellow star on the right end.

You cannot add entries manually. Firefox creates this list automatically based on (frecency) bonus points are given according to the number of times you have visited a link.

  • Update of existing Web site

    Hello

Around a year and a half ago, I designed a website on dreamweaver to develop my academic work and this worked well.

Problem is I want to now the site re-design and replace the old content with new ones. Design, it won't be a problem, but how do I go about using the same host and the web domain? I just create a new index for the new site and use my existing FTP details?

Would be grateful of any help.

    Thank you

    Mark

As long as the domain name and hosting accounts are always topical, then Yes, you will use the same FTP info to connect and publish your new/updated site up-to-date.

If you need to work in a temporary location while you build the new site will still have the old live site, then you can put the files in a folder on the remote site or you may need another solution according to your needs.

When it's time to publish the new live Webcam site, I clean everything from the old site on the remote server and download all the new files.

  • Folder on the remote server that is not recognized by Dreamweaver as part of the site

I run the site of a school district. This includes the home pages and associated pages for all but one of our schools. School files were headed by a teacher of this school's web design. This professor has left, and I was asked to perform some updates on the site from high school up to what a new teacher was hired and able to take charge. My problem is that the folder containing all the files of high schools is one of the many issues in the Group of largest school district, the folders on the remote server, my Dreamweaver does not see. I can use Windows Explorer to find the folder and it's there. I can use a tool such as Notepad ++ to open the files and make changes. They are here and I can visit her profile. But for some reason any Dreamweaver doesn't recognize them not as part of my site. I can't 'get' file, or a synchronization because Dreamweaver does not see this folder on the remote server. I think it's a matter of Dreamweaver, but I don't know how to fix it.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm home now and remembering that I'm working on the site of the House and at work, I realized that I can see the folder of the secondary school on the remote server of the House where I have Dreamweaver to connect via FTP. I can't see it on my computer at work where I connect to the remote server through a local/network connection. There may be a clue here. If I switch to a FTP connection to work, maybe I see the folder.

UPDATE: I changed the type of connection on my computer work of local/network, FTP and high school record is now visible on the remote control. Don't know why it makes a difference, or if this will lead to new questions, but I'm good for now.

  • FTP adapter: Not picking not the file on the remote server

    Hello

I use the FTP adapter to read the file from the remote server and file ra.xml - oc4j configured with good host, port, username and password.

Once I have deployed my process, no instance of this process is created and remote directory entry file is not picked up.

Please help on this issue. Thanks in advance.

Just checking that you can send via ftp manually from the BPEL server.

Looks like you can use the ra.xml - oc4j wrong file.

Also in your BPEL project, take a look on the link partner FTP and see the JNDI location, it will look something like eis/Ftp/sample.

This may be what you want to rename, generally good naming practices puts the server, for example Ftp/ist/FtpAdapter

To make sure that you have configured the file ra.xml - correct oc4j we can check through the Manager of the company, even though Marc has specified the correct location.

EM-> oc4j_soa-> Applications-> Drop down choice list autonomous resource adapters-> FtpAdapter-> connection Pools

Select the JNDI name, you indicated in your BPEL process, if there is no create a.

    Create connections as needed.

Also a hint is to start with the base directory, for example when you connect by ftp manually, it will be where you load the files. In your configuration / (oc4j - RA.Xml) is the place of departure and / is the physical or logical path. Download this work so that you know that you have the right connection. Then start working on the location of the directory.

    see you soon

Is not more or less the same question you asked in {message identifier: = 10835497}?

You must have a user to the remote database and an entry for the remote database in your tnsnames.ora file

If you have just to coil of database of remote and local database didn't need to be involved:
Edit your tnsnames.ora and add an entry with the remotedb, the information and you need to have the following information:

Ip address or the name of the server (BAMDB001?)
    Name of the service (?)
Port configured for this database. (??)

Also, you must be sure that the connectivity of your local computer to a remote server is granted (without firewall block).
Only when you have this information, you can connect to the remote database from your laptop.

From the Unix server where you connect to the database, you can get the information to be inserted in your local tnsnames.ora by typing:

    tnsping dbname

Of course, you need to replace dbname with the name of your database.
Another way is to check the remote tnsnames.ora when logged in Unix:

    cat $ORACLE_HOME\network\admin\tnsnames.ora

    and check the configuration it.

    Kind regards.

  • CSS style sheet appears on the remote server when I download my Web site, but it works very well to the local server

CSS style sheet appears on the remote server when I download my Web site, but it works very well to the local server, if anyone can help I would be grateful.

There are major problems with this page as shown in the screenshot below.

This is caused by a liberal hijacking of APDivs (aka layers) for a main page layout.  This isn't what APDivs were intended.  That's why Adobe them removed from DW.  Unfortunately, not soon enough.

I think you're the best option is to start over with a pre-built CSS layout that doesn't contain positioned elements.

Either way, Flash is dead now.  Most of the people cannot display Flash media more.  You can convert the HTML5 video or use YouTube to host videos now.
