I have Windows Vista.
When you try to install COD MW2 disc, I get the following message is displayed:
The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation.
Then it continues with the installation of the first disc perfectly, but the problem occurs with the second disc. When you are prompted to enter the second drive I do and he doesn't recognize. The drive doesn't look like it runs as if it is scanned intermittently. STEAM will freeze and (no response) as well as menu my computer and the DVD disk drive. So far, I can't find any solution to my problem.
I had the game earlier on the same pc but had to uninstall STEAM temporarily.
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.
Thank you for your response. However I can't find the "local security policy" in administrative tools. Not sure if it's because of Vista.
However I managed to the second drive yesterday after many many attempts. It seemed to work when I changed the AutoPlay settings to open the folder and view the files. I have no idea why, but he was able to read the disc in this way, after a few attempts.
Thanks anyway. :)

It provides an alternative interface to the Windows Add/Remove Software dialog box that offers web search options, access to registry keys and some additional commands. The program also includes a Manager start to inspect and disable programs that start automatically as well as a filter to eliminate the traces of the Internet, a secure removal tool and an option to search for and remove files, folders, and registry keys that have been left during uninstall of privacy. Original title: uninstall error.
How can I uninstall without the system administrator has set policies
Hi Telowe,
1 are logged as administrator?
2. you have more than one administrator account on your computer?
3. what application you are trying to uninstall?
4. this happens only with a specific application?
Method 1:
You can try disabling UAC and check if you are able to uninstall the program. Try the instructions in the following article to disable UAC.
Enable or disable the User Account ControlNote: We do not recommend disable user account control. If you turn it off, you must reactivate as soon as possible.
Method 2:
You can temporarily disable a security software and firewall installed on the system and check if the problem persists.
Note: Be sure to enable the security software on the computer after checking.
Hope this information is useful.

I tried to follow different directions to fix this - who usually start by uninstalling the components who has not installed completely. I get the same error message when I try to uninstall components. What can I do to treat this error and install the application. I installed other programs and have not encountered this problem before.

I just want to know if someone know a method that works and allows you to install a program in safe mode? I'm running following error message when you try to install an application of msi in safe mode:
"The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation.
and the event log contains the following event log. Please note that I am not interested in discussing questions about the installation in normal mode. I would like to know if there is any way to do this in safe mode only. I edited the registry to activate the MSIServer installer of Windows start in SafeMode with networking and also entered the local->-> application Software Restriction policies and checked security settings all users except administrators is enabled. Always make the same mistake.

Windows Setup does not load in safe mode, that's why you get the error probably. Why are you installing in safe mode? Why not normal mode?

The system administrator has set policies to prevent installation
Im trying to install Steam from the internet to check the Empire: Total War. When I try to download the software from the site, I get the above message. (The system administrator has set policies to prevent installation)
Its my computer personal and to my knowledge, I never put the policies in place. How can I check this?
See you soon,.
Russ
Suggestion:
Turn off User Account Control (UAC).
Try to install.
If it works, please make sure you turn UAC.Where is the UAC:
Start button > Control Panel > column on the left, select Classic view > user accounts > select user accounts enable or disable > uac prompt > uncheck "use account control...". "

the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation
I looked through the forum and have tried all the options. I try to install the total war empire on my laptop. I installed other games and never had a problem. When I click on install it as upward with the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation. Once I click ok it said failed to run the script. Ive went through all files and run by administrator but the same message appears. Ive said I checked this forum and followed all the steps, as much as I could do but still nothing. Any help would be great. Thank you.
mr2zircon92,
Is the only program that you experience this problem with? If Yes can you install the demo version on their website? You can also right click on the Setup disk file and select "Run as Administrator" and see if that helps. Let us know the results of these elements. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

I just bought _ 2 who needs steam installed to function. When I try to install steam tells me that the system administrator (me0 has set policies to prevent this installation.) I have no idea of what policy they're talking about or how to change. Can anyone help?
Hello Nickydwuk. Well, it's a bit difficult to know exactly what is happening from your description, I assume you're raising steam when he asks?
If you are uncomfortable with the head on registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
Check to see if there is a key named DisableMSI. If there is, and the value 1 to zero. If this isn't the case, something is blocking the installation.
