Drive hard RAID centrifuge prior to close of Vista 64

I have a Windows Vista-64 system business two table that uses an Adaptec 2820SA (8 ports Serial ATA RAID) controller. One is a RAID 0 with 4 Western Digital 500 GB SATA disks, and the other is a RAID 5 using 4 of the same readers. As soon as Windows, all 8 hard drives are closed at the same time, and you can hear a click hard when this happens. I think that this could be detrimental to all readers in the near future. Is it possible within Vista to force readers to go down gradually until Windows finishes actually stop? So far, I was unable to find a Microsoft solution to this problem. "Power Option" settings of Vista don't have no effect will not spin down of the 8 disks in the system either (I put the downtime of HDD in 1 minute without effect). This situation is complicated by the fact that I have based on Adaptec tables /-not only simple volumes of hard drive based and logical volumes. It would seem that this problem would be better solved on the Board and/or disk hard unit level physical control, via the Vista driver for the 2820SA). Please advise me on any solution party OR Microsoft who can be available to resolve this problem. I'll post this topic at the site of Support of Adaptec as well. Thank you.

Hi Na-PaliUSA,

Thank you for posting.

Wow, I remember there is 1 million years we could 'buffers Park' on the hard drive.

But it was probably a mainframe order.

However, I can't find a single mention about this in my favorite search engine.

It could have been 70 years when it was happening.

Unless the manufacturer of your HARD drive can provide you with a way to do this, I don't see any way to do it on Vista.

  • HPE 590 t: replace a drive hard raid 0

My HPE 590 t has 2 hard drives, set up as a pair of RAID 0 disks. One is dead. I used the low level utility to remove the dead from the RAID 0 config reader. Good record is still listed as a disk RAID 0 member. How can I put a new disc, same model, same everything and re-config this new drive as long as the other half of the RAID 0 configuration on the disk is good?

You can not. Once the disks are configured in RAID 0, the data is distributed through them. If a disk goes bad data on the other drive is gibberish. Unless the entire RAID-0 has been saved or put in mirror (in other words what RAID-5 is) then the data is lost. I'm sorry. It is even more important to backup when you have a RAID-0 because you the chance of failure is double what it would be with a single disc.

If all you ask is how to restore the RAID 0 with the new command and the old disk, go into the RAID Ctrl-I utility to start and first remove a player from the table and then restore a RAID 0 with two drives.

  • Advice on which drive hard buy for Raid

I'm going to buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136544 8 these hard drives, and I'll use a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816131004 raid controller to implement RAID 3. Western Digital know that these drives are not suitable for the raid, disk only I can find, is a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136797. I was wondering if there is a difference actaul between these two that makes the difference. Also, I was wondering if anyone of you knows another hard drive that would be good for the raid which is less than $ 100.

Your choice of reader and the controller look good for me.

I have used a controller Areca with WD black for the past two years, and as long as you do not have a form any backup other than redundancy RAID 5 on your PC, you should be OK with the readers of 'consumer' (aka black WD, Hitachi sister, etc.) as opposed to "enterprise" drives for RAID (AKA WE RE3 RE4, Hitachi Ultrastar etc) systems.

    Records of the company are:

-usually best parts - possibly some companies choose the best boards with defects less for their dearest readers

-Sometimes a few features that help with vibrations caused by multiple drives in a PC working in tandem

    -almost always a feature that will keep the drive of the company to continue to try to correct any error while reading or writing beyond a certain number of seconds. WD calles this TLER (time limited error recovery);

I've seen individuals suggesting that setting the spin-up time is increased from the default.7 seconds up to 1 second when you use consumer readers to help prevent consumer drives marked as bad. I did this and I have never had a car abandoned in two years.

I have about 50% business (RE3 1 TB WD) and about 50% of consumer records (Black 1 TB 32 MB cache) that are very similar, with the exception of the firmware. In two years, I had a bad drive; No data has been lost, performance just the RAID and even that was pretty subtle. And by the way, it was one of the RE3 drives aren't infected, one of consumer readers! When I started with the WD drives, it was possible to download a software and to set the time on consumer drives TLER and gain many of the benefits models company without having to pay for more expensive readers. Then, a year ago WD changed their line WD Black to defeat this utility (it was a utility WD TLER!) to work with their readers of consumers; Yes, their were some upset users on this one!

  • Use iMac drive HARD internal for storage only.

I initialize my iMac to an external SSD. It makes my computer run faster. How can I completely wipe the drive HARD internal of my iMac and use it as a storage only?

This isn't a big problem, except one. Apple does not support this method as a permanent solution. However, you have an iMac of 2012. I have a Mac Mini from 2012. I used a 1 to LaCie Thunderbolt Rugged HD to do this thing very via the Thunderbolt port. It worked very well for a while. Personally, I started my primary internal HD for OS X and the LaCie Thunderbolt as external storage. For reasons of registration and so on. Recovery of the Internet, as well. I have not found any major difference in the "boot speed" between internal or external HD. I upgraded the RAM of 4 GB to 16 GB all. and BAM!

My HD Thunderbolt is partitioned as a time Capsule (1st partition bootable) and Mac Storage (2nd partition). The choice is yours, of course.

    Bravo!

  • IS does not recognize the drive HARD internal

I have three, all from a school lab, that have been linked with other positive points and printers.

They are connected are not together anymore.

All three have a floppy drive and a HARD drive. Will only boot from the HARD drive.

At startup, the other two do not recognize their HARD drive and I use ea disk with the system in this regard.

Since hard drives are not 'seen' I am unable to do anything with them: fix, set up as a boot drive, etc.

They begin with the usual chimes and the Mac with the question mark, I slip the disk in and they complete commissioning.

The internal drive spin up and the indicator light flashes.

They do not show the drive HARD internal on the screen, but will show an external.

I haven't started to swap parts between the good and the other two.

Does anyone have an idea on how to activate an invisible HARD drive?

You will need to use the boot floppy disks to start the machines to run the repair disk, partition and format the HARD drive if it is still functional. Only then can you install Mac OS on the HARD drive. That's all that I remember.

  • How can I use my drive hard thunderbolt from 8 TB to backup all my wireless devices?

How can I configure my drive hard thunderbolt from 8 TB to back up all my devices using a Wi - Fi connection?

What you might hope better would be to use a Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter to connect to the router, but even if it works, it would be like a fire (Thunderbolt) connection to a water hose (Ethernet) is launching... and expect to get more water on the hose... more, the best that can be done without wire will be about half the speed of the Ethernet network.

Sorry, this is no sense... a Thunderbolt drive is designed to connect directly to a Thunderbolt port on a computer, or in a Garland with other devices Thunderbolt.

In other words, as soon as you break the chain of connection Thunderbolt, the speed drops to Ethernet or even low speed wireless.

  • Satego X 200 21U: drive HARD internal not external usable after upgrade

First, I changed the system to a 500 GB HARD drive, and everything was good. The old drive was not usable extern, so I left it as an emergency backup device.
After a few weeks, I did the upgrade even to the second HARD drive, and again the old drive is not usable in my extern Dockingstation.
Does anyone have a good idea what causes this problem? The HARD drives are locking the entire system, if I try to access and some formatting.

    Hello

What do you mean by is not usable in my external docking station?

I assume that you have placed the 2.5 HARD disk in a USB enclosure that allows to connect the HARD drive to the computer USB port.
Is this good? So what harm s? Is not recognized USB HARD drive or what?
Have you tried to connect different computers HARD drive?
    Otherwise, to do this

But if the HARD drive is not accessible, using the case of USB, or use inside the laptop, then I would say it is a HARD drive malfunction

    Why this is happening?
The writing and the reading drive HARD is a physical process which underline the material parts such parts can still die
