  OK, I have problems with my DVD R/RW drive. It does not appear in my computer or Device Manager. When I go to regedit it shows dvd cdrom and disk information but there is no less or high filter to remove. also bios does not display the installed drive. I changed the cable that plugs into it too, not the power but this one. My OS is windows xp family. Also, I tried the microsoft fix it program and it did nothing for me. • Please help - driver for the module Insp 8600 DVD + RW problem

  I hope someone can help with this... it left me speechless. Slim in my Inspiron 8600 DVD + RW drive module will no longer work. It does not appear in my computer folder. If I insert a CD or a DVD in there, it takes in and I can hear it roar, but nothing else happens. I tried the following:

  • Type d: / RUN... but it says there is no such drive
  • Exit the module and then put it back in, in case it was a problem of the seating. No change.
  • Ran scans antivirus and antispyware - nothing.
  • I checked the Device Manager and there are two drivers for the DVD drive - HL-DT-ST DVD + RW GCA-4040N is called and the other is a Generic DVD-ROM SCSI CDROM Device ( where the hell does he?). Both of them have yellow exclamation points on them. I uninstalled both, hoping that the replacement driver solve the problem after XP replaced. No luck - the 'new' drivers always have yellow exclamation points on them.
  • I also tried to uninstall these drivers and then installing a GWA-4040N driver; the message that came was something about Setup not being not not able to find anything to install or being not able to find the drive.

  As a side note, probably related, I tried to connect an external hard drive to the 8600 with a USB cord, but this player will also not appear / is not recognized.

  Can anyone offer any advice or solutions? I feel I've hit the wall. Not being not able to connect to a DVD player is a killer, because it is used for many things, including the loading of the software.

  For this particular model, I could not find another A40 Pro which has a DVD - RW, only DVD ROM. I also suggest to buy an external DVD - RW writer because an internal hard drive will cost much more. Probably triple what external there. External, you can find for about 50 but internal will cost at least about 90 more taxes. I'm sure it is internal that correspond to this machine, but at the moment I don't have the time to research each compatible model search of the car, it's why I suggest an external drive. • Satellite A200 - need driver for CD/DVD drive

  Hey people.

  Recently installed WXP Pro on my laptop A200 PSAEC, so I'm now in dual boot XP and Vista on my laptop.

  Problem is that I have all the drivers doesn't work on XP and everything works perfectly, but when I tried to burn a DVD, Nero said the recorder cannot burn DVDs. In 'My Computer', the drive shows up as a DVD - RW drive, but when I insert a blank DVD, it says CD drive. The drive shows up as "TCSDcor" CD/DVGW TC - L6 #2D "" in Device Manager. I searched a driver, but it is impossible to find an exact match for this drive and there is no driver optical drive on this section of driver from the Toshiba site. The only thing I found is an executable file of the firmware upgrade, but it throws an error saying that it is the wrong drive.

  Anyone got any ideas?

  You don't need a new driver for CD/DVD drive because it s a part of the operating system. So, you won't find one.

  I think you should try to remove the upper and lower filters in the registry. I did the same thing a few days ago, if I also had problems with my CD/DVD player and it worked for me! :)

  Sorry, but your description of the problem is a bit confusing to me. What do you mean exactly? According to the specifications of your laptop should have DVD Super-Multi drive (+ R) double layer. This means that you should be able to burn DVD-R/RW with no problems.

  I saw in some your previous assignments that you use external DVD drive too.

  I use my Tecra with Replicator port and a multi LG external DL disk attached to the port replicator (due to the fast data transfer firewire connection). Everything works fine and I wonder how you can have all of these problems.

  If your device is set up correctly, including all the original drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba download page should not have any problem. I hope that you have installed the unit without port replicator and you don t forget Mobile extension tool. As much as I know there is no driver for Replicator port and all the signals are loop just to the ports of the replicaror port.

  What is the status of the Panasonic player in Device Manager? The drive is displayed in Windows Explorer?
