DtlDrvProtect file: "file not found".

My PC has been suspended or frozen every two or three days. Whenever I set my PC to sleep, or restart, if I then run the autorun to see what happens, a file named CtlDrvProtect is highlighted in yellow with the message "file not found".

I then delete this as an administrator but it reappears whenever I start leader, if not again deleted every time, to my PC hanging / freezing.

Someone has ideas how to stop the computer to search for this file DtlDrvProtect - which is obviously not there in the first place?

Thank you very much.

Hello Paul,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

a. you get the error message at the startup of the system?

b. don't you make changes to the computer before this problem?

The question may arise as a result of a third-party software conflict or due to some corruption of system related files. We should continue to diagnose faulty software, or corrupted file generates the error message. I, therefore, suggest you try the following methods and check if the problem persists.

Method 1:

Boot to the system and check the number.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows

If the problem does not occur in the boot, you can determine which applications and services on the computer is causing this issue.

Note: See "how to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair.

If the problem persists, try the following method.

Method 2:

Try to run a scan of the file system (CFS) auditor to check any file corruption:

  1. Go to Start, click all programs and open the Accessories.
  2. Right-click on command prompt in the list programs, and then select run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, click OK, or alternatively click on Yes.
  3. In the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow
