Dual Boot disappears! I had a problem with Win7 & had to repair.

Never had this happen before! CAN I do something wrong? I have a free casting machine (build them for decades) with 2 WDRaptors and 2 Seagates! (All SATA drives) I have XP on a Seagate and Win7 on one of the Raptors! No problem starting between the two OS until my Win7 installation crashed! I made the option "repair the previous installation" to start from the DVD! When the machine is restarted, my dual boot option disappeared and now it starts directly in Win7!

Is it possible that I can get the dual boot set up again?

EasyBCD to add a startup for Windows XP:

EasyBCD by NeoSmart Technologies would be your answer, it provides a graphical front-end to the BCDEdit Command line that makes it easy for you to set the boot settings and change the entries start on the new Windows Boot Manager. http://NeoSmart.NET/DL.php?id=1

  • sqldeveloper 4.1 UI refresh problem with win7

    Hello

I have a problem with user interface with windows 7 64 bit sqldeveloper. I downloaded the latest version (4.1.0.19.07), I have improved my jdk (1.8.0_45). my video driver is the latest version. Whenever I run sqldeveloper and try clicking on a menu, nothing happens and if I move the mouse menu somethimes drop-down is displayed one by one.

Also, I tried everything I found like adding this parameter to sqldeveloper.conf. "AddVMOption - Dsun.java2d.noddraw = true".

I have a problem with my work and personal laptop.actually, this is not new for me, is the latest version, I use sqldeveloper: 4.0.0.13.

    What should I do?

    Thank you.

    Hello again,

I guess I think, I compare 4.0.0.13 and the latest versions of conf files and find in older version of the file there is a line "AddVMOption - XX: MaxPermSize = 256 M" when I added this to the latest version, it worked.

I forgot, I also remove these lines:

    AddVMOption - Dsun.locale.formatasdefault = true

    AddVMOption - Dorg.netbeans.CLIHandler.server = false

  • Re: Problems with Win7 boot on the new Satellite L670-17 x

    Hi guys,.

Three days ago I got my new Toshiba Satellite L670-17 x. Installing Win7 was not a problem, but now (after the start of the third or fourth) I suddenly a big trouble with the operating system.

When I turn on my laptop, it loads up until I can see the Windows loading screen. Then - both - the laptop stop working... I can only see the loading screen, but nothing happens. Turns off the light litte to the frontsite (which shows that the specifications of load/work). No error message.

I want to avoid using the Toshiba HARD drive recovery, because I saved (important) documents on the desktop (I know... not very smart). I ask you to help me with my problem.

(By the way: I already tried Windows repair system, System Restore memory diagnostic tool and start Windows Mode without failure).

Thank you very much for your answers!

If you cannot boot OS in safe mode, that, in my opinion, you have a big problem. I'm afraid only installation of HARD drive recovery will help you in this m.
The question is what to do with this data.

Perhaps you should remove the HARD drive and connect it to another computer to have full access to all of these external data. Copy them, replace the HARD drive in your Satellite and install the OS by using HARD drive recovery option.

  • Satellite C670D-121 - problems with Win7 recovery

I have a problem and I need your help.

I have a laptop Satellite C670D-121 in the original hardware configuration.

After a message on a process (my 10 year old son told me. "" But I have not seen this message), press the OK button and then the cell phone has rebooted. "
But restarting didn't work no more.

Also the recovery with the recoveryfunction of the laptop was not possible.
Now, I ordered the UDF of recovery and the restoration of the laptop is possible.

But in the moment where the UDF must be removed and the laptop should be repeated, I see the letters "Start window", the screen goes black and I can only see the cursor.

After a short time, the cursor jumps into the upper left corner. And then comes the whith window an error message. (s. picture)

I ordered a new UDF = the same error recovery!
    Support couldn't help me.
Boot Linux from the CD, the laptop works very well.

If a HARD disk error and memory can be excluded.
    [photo s | http://www.dienagelschmiede.com/win.jpg]

    Can someone help me please?
    Thank you.

    Hello
I m not quite about this error message, but it seems that s associated with memory issue I/O (input / output).

You mentioned a cursor blinking in the upper left corner.
This symptom is already known to me. I had such a problem blinking cursor also and in my case it was related to abnormal or bad memory and HARD drive.
I had to replace the HARD drive after all firstly by the modules of memory in order to solve this problem.

From my point of few your question may be linked to the faulty memory because the I/O message is linked to problems of memory too.

You said that Linux works properly using the Live CD?
I guess you booted the laptop using this live cd but did not install the system on the HARD disk.
Well, I don t think that this could be a clear proof that the RAM or HARD drive is OK.

In my opinion, these parts must be checked

  • Problem with Win7 upgrade

I bought the x 64 ultimate update from my school to install on my standard library crashed win7, now he said I didn't have a previous version installed. Tried to do a clean install and do not let me register... What can I do? I have no recovery and discs from what I researched, I thought that it would be able to detect a previous version of Win7 on the hard drive. Advice?

If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.

How to do a clean install with upgrade disc:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

    Enter the product key

    Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent

They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

  • Adobe CS5 compatible problem with Win7?

I have recently updated from xp to 7home 32-bit to 64-bit in order to Adobe cs5. It seems to be compatibility problems. Most of the programs will not start... Adobe has remote troubleshooted my computer for several hours now. He can understand the problem. We installed the Master Collection more then twice... even with a different set of disks.

    Hi nolantornquist,

    1. What is the exact error message you get?
    2. what edition and version of Adobe CS5 do you use?
    3. what other programs do not work?

If Adobe cs5 program is not compatible with windows7, you can install the program in compatibility mode.

  • Can I Dual Boot with the Hp dv6z?

I need to set up a configuration dual-boot. I had this set up on my old Compaq presario and it was very good. However, I am not sure to be able to do it with new computers. I need to have the ability to boot Windows and Linux. I use Ubuntu Linux 10.10 64-bit. I just need to make sure that no problem this as grub will write the boot sector. Any help will be certainly appreciated.

    Hello

Altogether. Ubuntu 10 makes the creation of a configuration dual-boot even easier than before.

Make sure that you have created you HP recovery CD set before you start.

Control where Ubuntu will get and ensure that it does not install itself in the or remove the HP recovery partition.

It is never a bad idea to have a backup plan.

Consider creating a complete picture of the hard drive with OEM partitions on an external drive.

  • How can I add Windows 98 as a dual boot with Windows Vista?

to disable vista drive hard installing old hard drive with win 98

then reactivate the main hard drive and add 98 as a second boot disk it will cause problems with vista activation?

It makes no difference if you disable any player or not.

If your computer or the manufacturer of the card does not 98 drivers available for your motherboard, graphics card, sound card, it won't work.

    See you soon.

  • W520 making dual-boot

    Good day (I guess)

I have the following problem with my image of the current system. If anyone can give me an idea, I kudo you 100 times (at least in my mind):

If I stop docked, I can not moored to cold start - no problem. If I stop undocked, I can not undocked from cold start - no problem.

If I stop docked and undocked cold start or the other way around, I have to restart for the upcoming system fully functional. Transient starting, I always get on the Windows 7 Desktop, but then don't be loading not some programs, the wireless card will not connect and other weird symptoms.

What can I do to find this issue? There is nothing unusual in Windows logs.

W520, ADATA mSATA SSD - but the symptoms exist also with the help of a HARD drive. However, the symptoms do not exist when I boot from an original image.

Oh, one last thing: when I try to make a stop of the transition system started, it doesn't. I have to make a hard stop.

    BIOS 1.38

Now before you say that it is a driver problem, consider how to determine that.

I tracked down the problem. It must be coming out of my printer Brother HL-2140 (USB 2) plugged into the dock. If I unplug it, the question of dual boot disappears. I have not yet tried updating the driver, but that is next on the list.

    Weird!

I started unplugging everything, restart, Plug one thing, then another, sheesh!

I've yet to find a theory as to how this problem starting cold.

  • Need a help of activating/deactivating the dual-boot...

Having learned that with ADOBE, there is always a nightmare scenario, I stop in my tracks until you get more information.

As mentioned in another post, I created a dual-boot for installation - WinXP-64-bit and Win7-64 bit - so I can possibly migrate to Win7.

I installed (off-trial) Production Premium CS4 in the Win7 partition without any problems. Open PrPro and exported using still and my codec preferred. So far so good.

As expected, I got the message "Excuse the interruption" telling me that there are already two copies with the same serial number-I have one on my laptop and the other is, of course, in the partition of Win XP on the same computer and HDD as this new facility.

I chose the "30 days to solve the problem" option.

It was then that I was able to migrate my preferences, keyboard & other presets for Win7 install and confirm their proper functioning before activation.

PITA #1-XP, presets, prefs, etc., can be found in "c:\Documents and Pro\4.0\ Data\Adobe\Premiere Data."

In Win7, they are located in "c:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Pro\4.0\.» It is a hidden folder, so you must go to the Options\View folder and check "Show hidden folders". I think that it is now in control Panel\Settings (I got by a help link so I don't know, but it is not in the 'Tools' folder headers).

PITA #2 - after copying my PrPro presets, keyboard, Pref settings, etc., to the above address, I tried to open PrPro in Win7 to confirm everything. It was about an hour after my previous session. But now I no longer get the option "30 days"! Only "activate" 'buy a license' or 'Quit '!

PITA #3 - since I do not know how the deactivation and Activation work, I'm not about to go further. Given that the two copies are on the same physical computer and the hard drive, they obviously cannot be made online at the same time. I fear that whatever happens to end Adobe that will not see Disabling or will not properly activate the new installation and then I'll be left with nothing operational. If they cannot keep track of the start date of the new facility and wiped out the trial of 30 days in an hour, I don't have a lot of confidence that the activation process will go so well. I think that there are a limited number of activations as well, and I don't know what this applies to the or how it works. I can see a scenario where I have to re - activate Win XP partition to try to find something and then get stuck there because I've used up my activations and can't reactivate the Win7 partition.

Anyone has any ideas on this...?

    TIA,

    Hi fuaho,

According to my experience, disable via the About menu was fairly reliable, and you get immediate confirmation that it happened. In the past, in CS2 era, if you had more than 2 versions of the license that were still open, you could call Adobe and explain to them and they would activate it manually again. I had people logic, understanding when I called. Another time, I had a hard drive accident and failed to disable.

You can try to call them and talk about them on the phone, because it's a matter of series/license. Just a thought.

  • Dual Boot on a HP Pavilion DV6T

I received my dv6t equipped by default Windows 7 on it. Use the disk manager in Windows, I partitioned the hard drive (giving Windows about 250G and leaving a 200G unformatted partition.) Everything was fine.

I installed Debian linux on the partition not formatted. When it came time to install Grub, I said installing linux to NOT put it in the MBR, but putting it on the partition on which linux was installed. (I did in the past with a dual boot for XP without any problem.)

When I rebooted the system, I would expect the linux partition to be ignored (because it is not yet in the equivalent of the MBR) and boot in Windows 7 system, as usual. (I would then use a live linux cd to hang the boot of linux and BCDEdit sector to set up a dual boot situation).

However, the system now comes up with a blank screen and a blinking cursor and stays that way until I turn it off.

Using restore disks will eliminate everything. Using a restore point did nothing.

Is it possible to get the partition table restored without wiping the hard drive? And is there no way to get a dual boot with Windows 7 installation?

Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thank you.

Resolved to myself. I started using a live cd from Knoppix. From her, I used GParted and let the windows partition the bootable partition (and the Linux one not the main bootable).

I then used the dd to hang the boot sector of the Linux partition, save it on a USB key.

I then rebooted into Windows and BCDEdit (?) to change the Windows Start menu. Now on a boot, a boot menu will appear with the choice of Windows 7 and Linux (with Windows being the default).
