all these multiple copies take disk space or that they are links to my music library?

Hello

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community!

If I understand correctly, you have for the songs duplicate entries in Windows Media Player.

Please answer these questions:

What are the options have you tried to remove duplicate entries from Windows Media Player?

When you move digital media files on your computer, the file name and file path information remain unchanged in your library. Then when you select a file to play to its new location, a new entry is created in your library, if you select the option automatically added to your library when played. As a result, your library can quickly contain a large number of entries, duplicate or invalid.

Let us try the following methods:

Method 1: Try the following article, if you have not yet tried:

Remove items from the Windows Media Player library:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/remove-items-from-the-Windows-Media-Player-library

Method 2: See the following article:

Open the troubleshooter in the Windows Media Player library:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Media-Player-library-Troubleshooter

Method 3: See the following steps:

a. exit Windows Media Player.

b. Click Start, run, type Player, %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media , andclicknext OK.

c. Select all files in the folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

d. restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Method 4: Clear the cache of database Windows Media Player files. To do this, follow these steps:

a. exit Windows Media Player.

b. Click Start, run, % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.

c. Select the folder Media Playerand then click delete on the file menu.

d. restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Hope the helps of information. Don't answer if you need assistance, we will be happy to help you.

Their isn't a such thing as a remote folder, but IMAP is synchronized. essentially local copies of the mail are a cache to speed up performance, although there are options for do not keep local copies. My experience is that it's slow. I'm assuming that IMAP, it is that what you call remote folders.

Size limits on technical terms are difficult. Historically, Thunderbird has a limit of 4 GB per file. This has been deleted way back to IMAP. local POP e-mail accounts and local folder still have the limit, or at least bug if you exceed the limit. Whenever the developers think they killed the bugs, another arises.

What files are compacted. Why all of them! Compaction has a dual purpose. In IMAP account it purge deleted mail from the server (a permanent deletion) locally the large amounts of wasted space are compacted to recover used space again by mail folders as being deleted. The physical elimination of the deleted mail only occurs during compact.

Remove folder is as simple as right clicking them and selecting Remove. Some special folders and the local folders account space simply cannot be deleted.

  • How to: recover disk space by removing the updates of windows installation files

Original title : Software updates to XP Pro do take the disk space that can be reclaimed by removing downloaded files?

I want to recover disk space which can have useless files.  Once an update is installed, the downloaded file can be deleted and if so, where they are on my drive?

Please note this is only for Windows XP and is not on Vista or Windows 7

Folders that have uninstall as part of the name (for example $NtUninstallKB282010$ who reside in C:\windows (hidden files) are window Hot difficulty updating folders/files) can be removed safely (providing ever, you wish to uninstall the updates). I recommend you leave these records for a period of at least one month to make sure that the update works correctly.

These updates can be removed individually or together. To learn more about the update/s go on:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/xxxxxx
NB: XXXXXX = the actual number, not to mention the "Q" or "Ko."

Once you have removed the uninstall folders/files, then go to control panel, add/remove programs. Select the title of the corresponding Windows fix on the folder/file of the patch you just deleted, and select Delete. You will get a Windows error. This is because you deleted the uninstall folder/files. Simply choose OK and the entry will be removed from the Add/Remove Programs list.

  • What are "free dusters treated" during a disk check?

When running a disk check that indicates the message (processed free dusters)?

Its CLUSTERS free not DUSTERS ().  Clusters of disk are the basic components of the files and folders are composed of arrays of clusters of disks that contain the information.  As the files are used and deleted, clusters of disk are released and reused.  So free 'clusters' means that these clusters of disks are more attributed to the files.

  • Live File Format provided no disk space when the files have been deleted

I used Live File Format 2.01 to copy files to a DVD + R, then one of the deleted files, but I didn't find the disk space and can not copy another file in the space previously used.  I use Windows 7.

Live webcam 2.01 file format is only compatible with Windows XP and Windows Server.

Live File Format 2.5 is designed for the latest version of Windows.I recommend use this format and check if you can remove and recover disk space.

  • In Windows Explorer, filenames in blue indicate that the files are duplicates or backup copies of files found elsewhere on my computer?

I had saved my files on my hard drive (I know, I know, that's how dumb that... lol).  I think I have duplicates, reanalyses even perhaps files on the hard drive.  My concern is that many names are displayed in blue color text and they are also listed elsewhere on the hard drive.  Duplicate filenames of colored text blue or even system created versions of my files?

    Hello

What are actually color encoding defined by Windows in the NTFS file system to facilitate the Identification of the type of file/folder
For example: names of files encrypted and compressed files/folder appear in green or blue. You can also set whether you want to display this color:
In, click Tools, Folder Options , and then on the tab display Windows Explorer.
In the advanced settings list scroll down until you see Show encrypted or compressed NTFS in color.
Select or clear the check mark (as you wish)
So you see this file/folder of green, blue are the files not double or triple.
To find the clone files in your system, you can use a program like CCleaner which is easily accessible through the internet. But before you delete the clone you must be sure that you delete all system files, only files personal, or else it will create big problems.

You can check this link for CCleaner: http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/
  • How can I link to R3D files when they are multiple (long resumes 4Gbs).

    Hello guys,.

I'm transcoding (SOUL) my red images to the H.264 format for easy/fast mounting in another machine slow (the film's Director). But he comes to files with multiple R3D files, long takes over from 4Gbs, it creates several mp4 files, and they are all exactly the same.

-Can I actually use an mp4 for my editing file and replace with originals later?

-I should only transcode the first R3D file?

-How can I connect back once the editing is done? Ive tried but do not know what R3D file should link to and does not after trying it. The mp4 file is take it all, but the R3D are not taking it together since they are separated in different R3D files.

I work with first CC 2015.

Thank you so much, I have spent days watching the tutorials but can't find my answer, I would greatly appreciate your help.

I'd probably transcode to prores proxy, or something that does not have the long form, GOP, as Mp4.   Then, a test and make sure your guard to transcode the original code term when you bind again, there is no problem.

do a test run w / a clip as not to lose time and when you do a couple of edits in a timeline w / as a clip, click with the right button on the clip in the project bin and select 'replace the clip', point to the original file then who must fill out your edited clip w / new source footage.

you will then need to change the codec of your timeline should match that of your source.    hope that helps.    Certainly test first to make sure that you have the workflow down before you begin your session.

This also works when there are tons of clips in your tray of sequences that need to be replace.

When we work w / R3D files, usually created proxies on the fly for this reason (I think).   I'm sure that simply point to the first R3D file in this order if you make your own proxies, although I have not tested.   the first R3D file will usually connect automatic for the rest.

This isn't the way we usually work but seems it should work.      Good luck.
