Duration of the Bios at startup too brief to read options.

Display of the BIOS at startup show several special control keys (e.g..  F8, F10), but the duration of the display is only about two seconds - not long enough to read all the options.

How can I modify Bios to get a longer term view before the opening of Windows?

I have a laptop Compaq CQ60.

Please let me know if I posted in the wrong Forum.  Thank you

    Hi Tanuj,

There is no place to change fonts.

You must go to the LR Edit (or Lightroom on Mac) menu > Preferences > Interface > choose 'Options' in the menu 'panels '. There should be a setting for the font size of Interface. You will need to close and restart LR for the font change are taken into account.

  • Computer laptop MSI cannot go beyond the BIOS at startup

    Hello world!

I'm trying to fix computer MSI laptop of my roommate (I don't have access to this right now, but I'll post the pattern later) which initializes more. He said he picked up the phone and moved to a different location on his desk before encountering this problem. When you turn on the laptop, the MSI and other logos appear. According to my roommate, the function keys to access the BIOS settings usually appear shortly after turning on the power, however they do not appear and the system never moves past this white screen of the BIOS. The motherboard doesn't give any beeps or other diagnostic codes. Here's what I did in an effort to fix it until now:
    • Took a CD - RW in the optical drive (there is no boot sector and the optical drive has priority boot).
    • Disassemble the laptop and re sitting 3 sticks of RAM, for a total of 12 GB. One of the sticks seems to have a small spot on one of the contacts, and I removed it by rubbing lightly with a gum pink pencil.
Unfortunately, we have not made any progress, and the problem persists as described. Normally I would Flash the BIOS at this stage, but since there is no startup options, what else could be?
Note: the dual-boots Windows 8 (primary) and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, system with the GRUB bootloader used for the selection of the OS.
Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hello

If you can't even get into the bios, you need to look in the manual for a CMOS\Bios 'Clear' or the 'Reset' button or the rider...

If you can get into the bios, make sure that the graphics card is set up correctly...

Some machines have a CPU\GPU with an additional AMD or NVidia graphic chip combo...

The machine may be trying to use the bad.

Try to remove EVERYTHING except one that the memory sticks, and one by one try them individually...

Also try to isolate a possible bad slot trying a few sticks of different in each slot individually.

  • Bad password the BIOS at startup Satellite A series

After the children have used the laptop by connecting to BIOS password I get "invalid password" I don't think that they have been in the BIOS and changed it, so the only thing I can think is the language has been changed.

Is it possible to XP to change the keyboard layout?

Is there a round work, or is it repair £150.

    Thanks for watching.

    Hello

Keyboard language can be changed in Windows XP.
To do this, you must go to
Control Panel-> regional languages and Options-> languages-> details tab
Here, you can define an additional or new keyboard language.
You can also use a short SHIFT + ALT key to switch between languages.

But the main point is that this work of parameters only when operating system running Windows XP.
In the BIOS, the provision could t be changed...
So it is hard to believe that the children changed the layout of the keyboard.

For me it s not explained why the BIOS password has been changed or why fake BIOS message

However, if you are unable to boot up the laptop because of the BIOS password then you will need to contact the ASP in your country to remove BIOS
You will have to pay for this service but I put t believe that it s expensive

  • (Redirected) Alienware x 51 will not be closed. Fans and lights still on. Can not enter the BIOS at startup.

    Hello

My Alienware x 51 will not be closed properly. Fan and lights constantly. I need to hold the powerbutton to shut it down.

Its an Alienware X-51-purchased around June 2012.
    GeForce GTX 555
    Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3, 40GHz
    8.00 GB OF RAM
    Windows 7 Home Premium

The problem started when I upgraded my BIOS version A06 to A13 (running A14 now). Now, whenever I turned off my computer, the lights are still up and the fan runs. In order to stop completely, I have to press the "switch" button.

My warranty expired a year ago.

Anyone know how to fix this? I suspect there is something wrong with my motherboard, since I can't even get into the BIOS setup when I start my computer.

Has anyone tried to replace the motherboard? What type of motherboard do need me? Is it possible to buy the "original" Alienware mobo?

I hope someone is able to help. Comments or suggestions are welcome.

    Hi Jeremy,.

It seems that you have problems with playback of video files in Windows Media Player.

    1. what operating system do you use?

Method 2: If the problem persists, try to disable and enable Media Player and check.

Step 1: turn off Windows Media Player:
    a. go initially and in search type 'Turn Windows has or not'.
    b. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".
    c. find multimedia and uncheck Windows Media Player.
    d. restart the computer.

Step 2: Enable the Windows Media Player:
    a. go initially and in search type 'Turn Windows has or not'.
    b. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".
    c. find the multimedia functions and place a check mark in front of the Windows Media Player.
    d. restart the computer.

For more information, see the article:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-features-on-or-off

Method 3: Try to re register the wmp.dll file and check if it helps.

    a. log on as an administrator.
    b. click Start, type cmd in the text box Search , right-click on cmd.exe, click run as administratorand then click continue.
    c. at the command prompt, type regsvr32 wmp.dll, and then click OK.

    I hope this helps!

As it shows on the screen of the virtual machine, you enter the BIOS by pressing F2 or select the Start Menu by pressing the ESC key.  You must click in the display for it to accept input from the keyboard.  In addition on a MacBook you will also need to press the fn key at the same time with the F2 key depending on how you have preferences in OS X keyboard.
