I think that this should be possible.
If you use a SATA HDD then you shouldn't have any problems with larger hard drives

  • Portege M800 - after Windows 7 upgraded FN keys no longer works

    Hello
    I upgraded my * portege M800 * bought * Canada * for * 64-bit Windows 7 *.
Everything is good except the keyboard. It's a Canadian bilingual keyboard with 86 keys with 13 function keys and a buttons on console with 6 keys (cut, cd/dvd, play, stop, previous, next).
I don't update all the drivers because it works very well with Windows 7 drivers.

    The problem is:
-function keys (Fn +..) no longer works
-the buttons of the console with 6 keys (play, pause, etc.) no longer work

    What I did:
-check the keyboard driver in Device Manager: it is a microsoft driver
-a attempted to update a driver toshiba but * he didn't find in the list of drivers for windows 7 or vista on toshiba website *: [http://support.toshiba-tie.co.jp/windows7/download/PORTEGE_M800_64_cae.htm]

So, I don't know if it's a driver problem or something else?

    Concerning

    Hey,.

These special functions of the FN keys and multimedia keys have nothing to do with the keyboard driver. There is no update driver in addition to the keyboard. There is only the Windows standard driver that can be used.

The point is that you have Toshiba Value added Package and Flash Cards Support utility. If you purchased the M800 in the Canada, I guess that it of a model Canadian and as a result, you can download all drivers here:
    http://www.Toshiba.ca

    Check it!

  • Portege M800 - how to upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit?

Hi - I have 2 drives Toshiba Windows 7 upgrade, but there is no option in the installation process to select 64-bit (I currently have a 32-bit Vista Home premium there)

    I have a Portege M800-11J - who says that it supports 64-bit

Clues as to how can I change this?

    Hello

Looks like you didn t includes the upgrade works.

You can t do a upgrade of each version. For example, you can upgrade a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version, or upgrade from a higher edition of Windows to a lower edition.

Which means that you can only upgrade to 32-bit Windows 7. For Windows 7 64-bit, you must make the new facility.

  • Portege M800 - SSD, lag of 30 seconds before the start after POST

I have recently upgraded to an Intel Postville's G2 X 25 - M 80 GB SSD and experience a second rule 30 between the BIOS POST (black screen) and actual boot from the disc. Support of the Intel says that it is probably a BIOS problem and that I should install the latest firmware, which I already did (4.80).

    System: Windows 7, 127-Portege M800-127 PPM81E M800.

    Hello

I guess that this shift will be caused due to the BIOS test. After you turn on your laptop it checks internal devices like HDD/SSD, CD/DVD disk, CPU, RAM, etc. So some of the material was originally this delay, I think.

If the latest BIOS can't solve your problem, it would be interesting to know what is happening with a SSD of replacement. Can you check that out, please?

  • Portege M800 - noise and HWSetup does not start

    Hello

    I use a Portege M800-116 under XP - SP3.

    Problem 1:
Connection Line-Out to a stereo system and play music with Winamp or WinMediaPlayer works fine on battery.
As soon as I connect the power adapter, a whistle loud high frequency and UM static disrupts the experience.

    Problem 2:
Files WAV or MP3 recording with internal or external microphone produce mediocre results.
The resulting files include a high level of high frequency noise and hum static.
Connect the power supply increases the problem.

Comparing the quality of the recording and playback with my old confidence Portege M100:
My M800 is one not only of poor quality - it's plain unusable.

    Problem 3:
Toshiba HWSetup does not start from the control panel.
Have you tried the ONU - and re - installing nothing helps.

Thank you for guiding me towards a solution.

    Hi, fly,

I m not Portege M800 owner so I can t he test for you, but I think that if the problem occurs only when the AC adapter is connected, it s a grounding problem

    You have 3-pin or 2-pin AC/DC adapter?
As far as I know in this case you need 3-pin AC/DC adapter and power cord.

You should ask an ASP in your country. Guys can order a new AC/DC adapter and check your laptop to what the problem is exactly.

  • Re: Portege M800-10Z - WiFi does not work

    Hello.
I have a problem. I recently bought Toshiba Portege M800-10Z and downgraded Windovs Vista to XP service pack 3. All right, but the WiFi does not work.

I tried to upgrade the wireless Lan driver, but it still does not work...
I have Intel Wireles WiFi Link 5100 and system is Windovs XP service pack 3
Is there someone who could help me with this issue?

I would be very grateful for advice.

    Thank you very much

    Hello!

That you say with the WiFi does not work?
Can you connect to the router?
The WLAN card is recognized in Device Manager?

To solve this problem make sure that you have the latest version of the BIOS. Check on the Toshiba site.

Also disable features of security as a hidden SSID, MAC address filtering and so far away.
Check if an update of the firmware on your router available.

    Good bye

  • Re: Portege M800 - cannot get bluetooth installed in Windows 7

Hi, I have a portege M800 PPM81C-07602D. It came with windows vista but I reinstalled Windows 7, and now I can't get the bluetooth drivers to install. I tried the old drivers and the new drivers windows vista 7, but when I run the installation I get the message "Please plug in the bluetooth device and click OK."... If I click ok it appears again. I don't know why it wouldn't find the bluetooth internal... I don't think that there is a physical switch to BT anywhere, and I tried to find out if it had been disabled in the bios but nothing in there on this subject... so... I'm out of ideas.

Anyone has any ideas I can try?
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Toshiba Bluetooth stack can be installed if the BT module is activated correctly use FN + F8 key combination to activate the BT module.
After making that BT should be recognized and installed correctly (you will have to entered BT in Device Manager).

  • Portege M800 - Chicony Webcam does not work

I have a Portege M800 and the Camera Assistant Software simply does not work.

I upgraded my Vista 64-bit Service Pack 2, I reinstalled the driver several times and I downloaded the latest version of the Camera Assistant Software from the Web from Toshiba site and nothing worked.

I get a 'preview of no.' when I load first it and 'Graph making Fail' when I go to the video.
However, the only thing is that I know that the camera itself is very well because very rarely it will work on MSN messenger, but he has not responded to other programs.

    Please help me!

    Hello

    > The only thing however is that I know that the camera itself is very well because very rarely it will work on MSN messenger, but he has not responded to other programs.

This means that more different applications have access to this camera. Is this good?
I think that is the question!

In your case, I recommend you to disable the webcam software in msconfig-> Startup tab.
In addition, you must disable the MSN also in msconfig. The point is that only an application that uses and sharing the webcam should run in the background of the OS.
I think that this would avoid problems with other software

  • Defective screen on Portege M800

I bought a PORTEGE (M800-107) in 2009 and before the expiration of the 3-year-old warranty (2012), the screen went black all the time.
I sent it to the official service of TOSHIBA in Greece (called "IDEAL his '), who fixed it in about a month (and after two attempts).
A year and a half later, the screen went black again. Now they ask me 500 euros for the replacement of the screen. Of course I won't give all these money.
Portege was the 3rd Toshiba laptop, I used. I chose it because I wanted something powerful and professional. The irony is that the more expensive model has exploded sooner than the cheapest.
However, it was the LAST ONE on your part.

PS: in order to take my laptop (without attachment), I have to pay 30 euros for check technicians!
Really, you know someone who goes to the service for fun? Or I am responsible for the failure of your model?

    Hello

To be honest I m was really asking you this display problem. Portege and Tecra are the best notebooks of Toshiba business line and for years, they are known as products of high quality with the best material.

Anyway, sometimes the best products have problems and be in trouble. Similar things happen with all technical products. I know that's enough damage and angry, especially in the time when you need your laptop.

Maybe it sounds stupid now, but maybe you can buy view on your own and find someone who can exchange it for you. I did it for my friend a few years ago. We purchased watch on eBay and we exchanged it alone. Of course on our own risk.

    Bye and good luck

  • Portege M800 - Touchpad light extinguishes, and comp slows

    I have a Portege M800, model PPM81C-05C020.

My problem is that the light above my touchpad dims and then gradually turns off completely. When this happens, I can't use the touchpad. Fortunately, I have an external mouse plugged in, but when the Synaptics mouse turns off, it also slows down my computer. I type this post very slowly and it still takes forever for words on the screen to catch up as I type. I thought that maybe the driver was somehow defective, so I went on the Toshiba site and tried to download the driver for this series of laptop and then restarted, but it did not help. I ran various programs to ensure there is no registry errors, but they all come back clean.

I don't know what to do. I brought to a place of computer before and they managed to fix it, but 2 months later, the problem is recurring. Help! : S

    Hello

This driver you downloaded from the official website of Toshiba?

I would recommend a driver update from the official website of Toshiba touchpad:
    http://www.Toshiba.ca

And interesting to know what OS you have.

  • Is possible to use the second HDD in PPM81E Portege M800-105

    Hello!

Does anyone know, if it is possible to extend a Portege M800 - 105 model No. PPM81E with a second HDD?
Is there a MediaBay for the DVD player to install a second hard drive?

My goal is to use a Solid State Disk (64GByte) as the first disc (System only) and store all user data on the second drive.

    Best regards
    Sven

    Hello

To my knowledge it is not possible to use a second HDD Portege M800.

The laptop supports eSATA connection so you can connect an external HARD drive.

    Welcome them

  • Portege M800-103 - Bluetooth not working not not Linux

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Portege M800-103 (PPM81A) and a system to dual-boot with Windows Vista and Ubuntu 8.1 x86_64 (recently installed).
Almost everything works well under Ubuntu except bluetooth, which is not yet recognized.

I also tried the omnibook and the toshset (with unbearable = 12) drivers. I have had no success at all.

Little help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

Have you checked OS support for this model of laptop computer?
As much as I know this Portege is not Linux supported and Toshiba doesn't offer BT stack for Linux.

Have you checked some Ubuntu forum? Maybe you can find some useful information there. I imagine that a lot of people have the same problem with the different laptop models.

  • Portege M800 - how to disable Intel SpeedStep?

    Hi all

can anyone tell me please where to disable Intel SpeedStep in BIOS of my Portege M800? I have already updated to the latest version 4.80 but I can't yet find a related Intel SpeedStep option.

    Best regards

    Dante

    Hello

Why you want to disable SpeedStep? I mean that's a feature and not a bug ;)
SpeedStep can improve the performance of your laptop, because the CPU will be a little more overclocked card motherboard/BIOS if you run programs of high CPU usage. So that s nice

If you want to disable, you must do in Windows power management if you can find t such an option in the BIOS.
