Dv6500 Limitation of physical memory to 3 GB

Hi all

My DV6500 Entertainment PC supplied with Windows Vista 32 bit pre-installed which limited my use of 4 GB memory to 3 GB. I have recently upgraded to Windows Home Premium 32-bit, which I believe has a limitation of 4 GB physical memory (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366778%28v=vs.85%29.aspx#physical_memory_l... but after inspection always my windows shows 3 GB of memory usable.) Is there something I need to tweek in windows or bios to use fully all the 4 GB as installed on my laptop? Thanks in advance.

Hello:

That's what this forum is dedicated... to ask and answer questions.

So, there is absolutely nothing for you to be sorry for.

Unfortunately, there is no way you can remap or re - dedicate memory configuration. It is what it is.

However, the BIOS of your PC may have a more dedicated graphic memory setting to use.

I was very surprised to see that there is a video memory setting in my BIOS dv6810us. The default value is 64 MB.  However, I could change the setting to 128 MB or 32 MB.

Then, I changed it to 128 MB.

  • Limited resources of memory VM even if I have a spare physical memory...

I'm currently under ESXi 4 server only allowed for 1 physical processor.  I use the vSphere 4.0 client to manage it.  I have a VM installed, started off the coast with a 3 GHz Pentium D CPU dual core and 2 GB RAM.  Then I upgraded the RAM to 4 GB and everything was fine, the host sees the 4 GB and really shows the ability of the host 4091,61 MB memory as well as the capacity of the processor 2 x 2.992 GHz.  The problem is that when I go in my VM current (1) and try to adjust the allocation of resources by clicking the tab for the allocation of resources to this virtual machine and then click on the link edit in the lower-right corner of the box of memories that I get booking 2044 MB of RAM and that is where the small triangle as well which is the "limit based on the parent resource pool or. current host.  I have the limit of the value "Unlimited."  I know I should be more available because I assigned only 300 MHz processor and 512 MB of RAM to the system, so I'm missing about 1.5 GB or RAM to allocate to the virtual machine.  Why doesn't it let me go up to 3.5 GB or memory to reserve?

The above is my main problem because I am in more desperate need of memory on this virtual machine, but the other problem is that I am limited to allocation 4636 MHz of CPU to this virtual machine when I 5700 MHz available return.  Also running in the "limit the pool of resource parent or current host-based" in that regard.  Other that what I'm fairly new to VMWare stuff so please be as detailed as possible explaining what I am doing wrong.

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

First reserve has nothing to do with the allocation of resources. A reservation only guarantees that some physical memory / time CPU will be allocated for particulare VM when multiple virtual machines are fighting for resources (i.e. host CPU / memory load = 100%). In the case of 1 VMS on host booking resource is meaningless - this VM will always get all the resources.

ESXi 4 requires 2 GB of memory for himself only, so if you are unable to install more memory modules then you should consider demotion to ESXi 3.5 - it is much less memory consumption.

  • When I turn on my computer with windows xp on it I get a blue screen that says dumping physical memory

When I turn on my desktop computer with windows xp on it I get a blue screen telling me that it is dumping physical memory.  Why it does this and what I can do to fix the problem?

    Hi KarenSellers,

-What is the exact and complete verbatim of the error message that you receive? Thanks for mentioning the same thing with the error code that is displayed with the blue screen.

Method 1: Try to start your computer in Mode safe mode and check if Windows loads successfully.

Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not work in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.

Check out this link to do the same thing:

Method 2: Use the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check if there is an error with the memory.

Refer to the section "using the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool" from the link given below for the same:

  • Use of the Task Manager physical memory is not not to use processes

I have seen this topic discussed it before, but I did not understand what is happening here.

-J' have one windows server 2008 with 8 GB or ram configured, with the limit set to unlimited and booking made 8 GB.

-When you look in the Task Manager, I see the physical memory to 88% and the bar bed to 7.10 GB.

-Adding all process memory usage, it is only about 2 GB.

-In another thread, that I read that it was because he had a deadline, and hot air balloon began.

-J' I monitor the server via SNMP and have alerted all the time that this server joined more than 90% ram usage.

-The Guest server is correct use of the physical memory Task Manager?

-If it is not, and is caused by the ESX host, how can I fix it to properly monitor the comment server.

The question here is how windows works,

You reserve memory and don't have no limits, so there is no balloon showing VMs to appear that they have high memory use when they are not actually in some cases.

Processes that Task Manager displays is not all that is running or being eaten, I know when working with SQL, you have FEAR that can use a ton on memory, but there is no process to show.

Best thing to do is to run RAMMAP a sys internals tool that will show you exactly what is using the memory in windows.

    Hello

In general the BSOD is the product of the problem of hardware or software problem. To check if it of software or hardware associated with deliver its necessary to reinstall the OS and check if the BSOD will appear using the new OS preinstalled.
Of course, it s painful to do that because the recovery procedure would format the HARD drive and therefore the data backup is necessary!

I don t think that the different input voltage might affect the functionality of the laptop computer because the laptop uses the universal adapter that supports entry 100V-240V.

BSOD can be caused by faulty memory modules so I think that this test of memory could be useful also

  • Slow down the Satellite C660 - physical memory 93%

    Hello

Asked me to replace a screen on my Satellite C660 sons, of whom one.
After testing the laptop, I noticed that it was incredible slow. I asked him why he was so slow, and he says he was always slow because he bought 10 months ago to Argos (it s her first laptop and it is not very computer savvy)

In any case, I ran a scam and spyware anti-virus and nothing was found.
So I decided to do a factory reset (f8) but the problem is still there.
My other son who lives with me as the same laptop (only difference is a pro) and the difference between then as night and day.

I noticed that physical memory is always about 93% without anything running in the Task Manager and its fan is constantly every minute or so.

    Suggestions regards D

What is the exact model number Satellite C660-xxx
RAM memory how this laptop stand?

For most system runs slowly because of the high amount of processes that are running in the background.
It s advisable to check the MSCONFIG Startup tab and disable some really important processes.
I also recommend cleaning with CCLeaner system and possibly the RAM should be improved if it s too low.

  • BlueScreen: Physical memory dump

Yes, until recently (18-20 November) my phone worked relatively well. I had a few updates around the 10 that I was not being updated with, and having done, I started to receive discharges of physical memory. My first solution was restoring to before I updated my computer, which worked. I reinstalled my updates after a good 4-5 hours, but ends up with the blue screen 10 minutes after a session shortly after. I looked at the thread of August, but these updates caused no memory dumps. On the side, I removed the update causing a bluescreen different I still have to meet, and I don't know if it's the Manager of my dump (KB9XXXXX, lost the related forum). I also try to avoid that at ALL COSTS because I know that damage dumps physical memory can make a computer to test.

And somehow my question of Windows Vista to put in Windows 7... ?

    CriticalComp,
Here are a few things I would say.

Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic to ensure that there is not a problem with the RAM.

And then perform a clean boot and test.  This can help determine if there is a conflict with a 3rd party software.

You can also run System File Checker to search all of the corrupted system files.

BTW - the update of Windows (and a few other forums) are combined forums, so all versions of Windows go on the forum itself.  Sorry for the confusion.

  • Total physical memory and the total virtual memory

    Hello

When I checked the repressive information of my laptop computer on which Windows XP SP3 installed, I discovered that RAM is of approximately:

    Total physical memory: 2.048 MB
    Available physical memory: 1.32 GB

    Total virtual memory: 2 GB
    Total available memory: 1.96 GB

As this screen shot in Arabic shows:

I don't really know what mean these four memories.

It would be very much appreciated

Physical memory is actual RAM that is installed inyour PC is fast enough with respect to access to the data

Virtual memory is not physical in terms that you can't touch it or remomve it. Vitutal is a section of hard disk space unused which is used on-site for faster physical memory that your PC does not have memory.

Because the hard drive is slower interms of access data to physical memory, your PC will see improved performance by adding or replacing existing physical memory with amounts more or more (512 MB or more)

Virtual memory allows your computer to always run, but at a slower speed when you run applications that have used all of the physical memory. Remember, even before starting a program already running the operating system and other services which each allocate a block of physical memory for themselves. You can see exactly how much is used by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL and display of the process tab and the performance tab.

You can easily determine what your need to add to your PC memory by visiting a site like Crucial.com which allows you to scan your pc for the type of memory used.

  • Too much physical memory used.

Hi, am windows XP 32 - bit professional edition on machine A Dell G280 with Intel Pentium IV 2.80 Ghz, with 512 MB of Ram, out of which 10 MB, I think that is used for graphics VGA or maybe. Thing is my system uses too much physical memory even when no ongoing work on this subject... ND who, at the time, is going painfully slow. Is it possible that I can release the physical memory usage? I would like to do a update Avast Anti virus installed.

with 512 MB of memory, you need to keep the programs that are not needed

at the time where the value manual or value on only when you manually start them.

do a disk cleanup regularly and Defrag the C; often drive.

    minimize Add-ons.

maintain the programs that start when XP does a minimum or none, but keep the anti virus

    program to start with XP.

If you have media players this auto-update automatically the value updated

    When manually update you them.

Look in the Task Manager, how much process is running and set the columns (view).

to show all related to memory. Find what is using a lot.

Avast can use too or not.

10 MB of graphics is not quite likely you have 32 or more.

keep about 15% space free hard drive at all times or things can get real slow or not

    not work at all.

the avast firewall maybe slowing down things or not.

run chkdsk /f he can fix something.

other people can respond with number and best thing to do.

That's just my opinion and some things that I do.

I don't think it's really important at the start of the question.

What is important is to know how to fix it.

If you get a blue screen of death (BSOD) when you play, it seems that you should take a look at your video drivers.

The chipset on your Asus GeForce 9500 GT is NVIDIA, so I visit NVIDIA site and let scan them online, take a look at your system and if there is one more late video driver for your system and if there is, consider installing it.

    Here's how:

I use the NVIDIA site and let scan them online take a look at your video system and see what he suggests for drivers and consider their analysis if they offer a new driver.

It is recommended to run the scan NVIDIA with Internet Explorer.

Here is the address of the NVIDIA page:

    http://www.nvidia.com/download/Prescan.aspx?lang=en-us

Read the instructions, and then click the DRIVERS GRAPHICS button to start scan and answered in the affirmative, if asked to install the plugin required to run the NVIDIA scan.

If following their indications do not straighten things, then follow these steps:

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, MSE, Comodo, etc..

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msinfo32

Click on OK and when the system info summary appears, click on Edition, select all, copy, and then paste the information here.

For information about video drivers, expand components, click view, click on edit, select all, copy and then paste the information.

This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.

There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and everything seems to be
information private for you, just delete pasted information.

When you have the time, I could do that too:

Perform scans for malware, and then fix any problems:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

    Hello

You did changes to the computer before this problem?

Step 1: Check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.

From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".
